Sound is better than the stock speakers, and will sound even better with an aftermarket stereo or amplifies down the road. Crutchfield provides the necessary adapters and brackets for the DIY individual. The install was straight forward, but had to use a glue gun for the tweeters.

great price, great sound!
Lane from Forney, TX on 1/10/2019
2016 Kia Sorento
I put these in the front door of my son's Sorento without adding an amp. Excellent stock replacement and fairly easy to install. I did have to put some thinking into the tweeter install that replaced the stock ones. I ended up breaking off all tabs except one and used hot glue to secure the other side. The sound is much improved with stock non-infinity radio. The system is louder and clear. The bass sounds great and with the built-in inline crossovers it makes install even easier. As usual the no extra charge harness, bracket and crutchfield research saves me time.
Pros: Great sound for stock replacement. built-in inline crossover. great price.
Cons: a little amount of planning when installing tweeters.

Daniel from Beaufort, SC on 12/31/2018

I mounted the tweeter exposed but flush with the door panel. I love the sound. My factory tweeters are completely silent next to these. The speakers do not handle bass, you must use high pass filter if using an amp. This is a good entry level component system. Catch them on sale, and you wont be disapointed.
Pros: Great tweeter, good sound overall
Cons: Cannot handle bass at all. You must filter it out if using an amplifyer as the supplied crossovers are not very good.

Good set of speakers. Installation on my 2013 Prius C said to splice or solder the wires. Below is a picture of my easily reverse-able workaround. Note that these speakers frequency range, and they do not hit really low bass. They really came alive when I installed the 45w 4 channel alpine in line amplifier.
Pros: Good Speakers
Cons: Not direct fit. Required modifications on wiring.

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 and needed to upgrade my stock speakers. My head unit is a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX. I installed the left side first and played it against the right side and it was so much clearer with decent bass. The plus on the installation was the I didn't need the speaker brackets. I haven't installed the tweeters yet but I'm planning on putting them above the seatbelt strap. Very happy with the sound from Alpine. .
Pros: Great replacement and so easy to install. I didn't need the speaker bracket.

Easy install and fantastic sound! After hearing these speakers I've decided I need to replace the stock rear door speakers to get the most out of my system. I'm so happy with Alpine that I'm going to order the Alpine's that are complimentary to these for the rear. The only thing that was a bit of a problem at first was the lack of clear instructions. Found some better direction on YouTube.

Polymer speaker should be better last longer than the stock paper Expected less fabricating. Little suggestion / direction for installation. Crutchfield directions of little help for my 2003 Tahoe. Alpine performance better than stock but not what I expected from past experience with Alpine. The stock installation had separate treb/bass power feeds. I question using only one of them per the wiring diagram - am I missing out on some of the system power? Could I have run the provided crossover with the treb feed? Or would it cause impedance issues? Dunno. Was not confident in Crutchfield assistance.
Pros: Polymer speaker should be better last longer than the stock paper
Cons: -Expected less fabricating. -Little suggestion / direction for installation -Crutchfield directions of little help for my 2003 Tahoe. -Alpine performance better than stock but not what I expected from past experience with Alpine

Good stock replacement choice
Rich from SE Massachusetts on 4/16/2018
2007 Toyota Tundra
Recommended by Crutchfield to connect to the SONY XAV-AX100 receiver in the dash & front doors, along with Rockford Fosgate Prime R1525X2 in the rear doors. They are an obvious improvement in weight, build and sound over the stock speakers in my 2007 Tundra Double cab. I made the decision not to add a subwoofer in addition and I'm content with the sound. Note: For this vehicle you don't need a back strap to install the tweeters in the dash. The sales person at Crutchfield told me I did and I had purchased two. Instead, you will need to fabricate-out of a sheet of semi-rigid plastic or the like (I used the lid from a pail of screws)- the shape needed to fit the space, then cut a hole for the tweeter and two small holes for the screws. Also note that the left and right plastic shapes, are similar but will not be exact mirror images. On this vehicle you will also have to cut off the existing connectors leading to the tweeters, test to see which two out of the four wires lead to the same-side door speaker and then make appropriate connections with connectors. The tweeters are directionally adjustable so you might want to listen for a bit to direct them the way you like prior to replacing the grills, as the sound will be reflecting off the windshield. For mounting the front door speakers on this vehicle you will not be using the smaller mounting device with the embedded threaded nuts, only the main mounting part. I had to call the helpful Crutchfield techs to determine this.
Pros: Improvement in sound.
Cons: Instructions provided not complete, though several conversations with Crutchfield techs got me through it. Careful connecting wire harness to lugs-they are soft and may bend if forced with a tight fit.

These sound great. The highs are crisp and the mid bass sounds clean. However, the low end bass was a little lacking. This is fine because I plan on adding subs for the low end. Overall, great speakers that are easy to install and sound 10x better than any stock speaker! Also keep in mind the tweeters mounting diameter in the case is 2" and outside the case is 1.5"
Pros: Highs are great. Mid bass is great
Cons: Low end bass is lacking Crossover cable could be longer.

Vast improvement over factory. In the past I have used Infinity References. These are relatively close without the ability to adjust the tweeter with a button. I also find the Alpines less edgy/sharp. Hard to know if it is the difference in interior and radio or the speaker. I am very happy. Lots of mounting options included. Watch out for the speaker mounted crossover/filter, it might interfere and require mounting modifications. I found tweeter wiring and inline crossover lengths to be adequate.
Pros: Many mounting options Vented driver magnet
Cons: Woofer mounted filter (not a huge con) Weak speaker connection lugs No standard wire included

These speakers were pretty easy to install. They're a big step up from factory and have good clarity. The have a pretty good punch to them but it would be much better paired with a sub. The tweeters are harsh and sort of tinny, it's hard to find a sharpness to your sound without it being harsh at the same time. My aftermarket jvc head unit put out a good amount of power and they handle it very well.
Pros: Good clarity, nice punch, nice power handling, easy to install

Mehhh Standalone speakers, Awesome Paired with Sub
Karl from Taco, WA on 5/29/2017

Installed these in a 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Special Edition. This car had the stock "upgraded" 6 speaker setup with tweeters next to the door handle. Also using the "Premium 120 watt 6 disc head unit. I used the stock tweeter bracket, removed the old tweeter. Removed the Alpine tweeter housing and hot glued new tweeter to the old bracket. Seems legit to me. The woofer adapter Crutchfield supplied went in the garbage, was not even a close fit. I used the bracket Alpine included in the box, and made it work. I then installed two Alpine SPS-410s in the rear doors. When I first fired up the stereo, treble blaster city, took a few min and tuned them in and not too bad. These speakers are very clear and pronounced. They do not have much low end at all. In fact I about lost all the low end from the stock speakers. Adding bass in the eq will cause clipping and distortion to these speakers. This forced me to by a Alpine Type S 10 , Alpine 500w @ 2ohm amp, and line out converter. .... Oh bummer :/ All together WOW Awesome! Super Cool, Excellent....Some what more Expensive than originally planned.. Would Do again 9/10 paired with a Sub. 3/10 stand alone

THE WORST COMPONENT SPEAKER IN THE MARKET

I just got mine last week. It was installed in my 2013 CRV EX. My head unit is a PIONEER AVIC 5200NEX. I also added a 4 channel amp 45x4 RMS Alpine KTP 445U. I was shocked how poor this component is. I cant feel any midbass, once i bring the volume up, tweeter gets too loud and will start pierce my ears. I will try to return this speakers ASAP. I have been an Audiophile for decades, I am also a professional musician. I know what speaker should sound and this gave me nothing but waste if time and money. Dont be the next victim. Just a big tip, before you buy any speakers, always audition it first and read specs and reviews. Try different brands and ask for professional help. This speaker is usually marketed as a good sounding component with or without amp and definitely this is not true. Again dont buy
Pros: Its cheap
Cons: Sounds worst than a factory, tweeter sounds louder than midbass, when you add volume tweeter will pierce your ear. Very poor quality, no midbass at all. My iphone speaker sounds better

Installed in my 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse as a replacement for some 18 year old Infinity Kappa component speakers that were just worn out. The woofers are literally a drop in replacement in the doors; I didn't need to use any of the adapters. The tweeters did require me to widen the prior holes I had drilled in the dash trim in order to surface mount them. No problem using the provided template. Also, the tweeters are meant to be wired in parallel to the woofers, but that is not how the Eclipse is wired. I installed them directly into the car wiring harness. I combined this component system with Alpine SPR-69's in the rear quarter panels, all driven by a Clarion XC-1410 300W amp and the sound is incredible. The rest of the system is a Sound Ordnance B-8PTD amplified subwoofer and a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X797.

Great sound, high failure
Kelso from Savannah, MO on 2/4/2017
these are a great addition to changing the entire Sound Stage of your vehicle. the low to mid-range is precise and the high-end is very apparent. as much as I love these as a replacement, the tweeters are very delicate or they are not a very reliable driver. I have two sets of the 610c and they are in different vehicles. One is driven by me and the other is driven by my spouse. I have had one Tweeter failure in each vehicle. the systems are not used to turn up for loud volumes other than occasional "oh I like that song". other than that it is quiet listening. these are a very high sensitivity as well. I think that anyone who installs these in their vehicle will enjoy the reward however the high frequency failure rate is quite high in my opinion.
Pros: Clear, articulate, high sensitivity, clean install options
Cons: Tweeter failure rate very high. Needs high frequency level dropped about 2db

Massive improvement over stock 2012 Nissan Leaf speakers. Added tweeters directly to door between door handle and a-pillar. Looks like it came that way if you didn't know better. Let the OEM tweeters installed and no loss from doing so. For the price you won't be disappointed, but don't expect it to rattle the car next to you. This is the second set I've installed into my vehicles, and feel like its a good balance between price and improvement over OEM, yet simple enough you don't have to get into an entire system build.

Excellent speakers for the price point. You should use really them with an amplifier for the best results. Using them with my factory head unit there was virtually no bass response. Once my amp was installed (45W RMS) they really came to life. The lack of large external crossover helps simplify installation.
Pros: Clean highs and mids for the price.
Cons: Will most likely need more power than your factory head unit can provide to maintain bass response.

Great Speaker, but doesn't actually fit.
Bheilig from Pittsburg, KS on 7/7/2016
1996 Dodge Ram 1500
I bought these through a third party vender, but used Crutchfield for fitment instruction. Crutchfield only mentions that you have to Re-drill mounting holes and Holes for tweeters (which is expected with a component speaker set). But if you have a 1994-2001 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500 Regular Cab Pickup and you're mounting these speakers in the lower rear position, you need to know that the speakers are "6-1/2 and the standard mounting size in that position only allows for a "5-1/4 or maybe an even "6 comfortably, without modification. If you still plan on getting these, which I recommend, you will need to either buy or make a bracket or pound the sheet metal surrounding the speaker opening flatter on the bottom and top edge due to the surrounding rise. Good luck and enjoy!!
Pros: Great Sound quality, Crisp Highs, Smooth Mids, Hearty Lows! Perfect!
Cons: Not Alpines fault, but "6-1/2 didn't exactly fit my application.... oops! I made it work!! Tweeter connections before and after the bass blockers is odd, should have just left the connections out to allow consumer to connect their own way!

Textbook bad speakers, could not stand listening to them
Promit from Baltimore, MD on 7/1/2016
2013 Subaru Impreza WRX
I'll start with the good: Alpine includes all the accessories and wiring to install these things very easily. The whole thing is plug and play. * The main thing that's bad about the speakers? The sounds they make. Extended break in did not help. I bought a calibrated measurement mic and ran frequency sweeps to see what was going on and confirm that I wasn't imagining it. I tested at various volumes to make sure it wasn't an amplifier issue. * Alpine pulls off the trifecta of cheap showroom audio: harsh highs, recessed mids, and overblown lows. Funny enough, the response actually measures basically flat between 40 Hz and 400 Hz, save for a cabin null. That's admirable, except that it's sitting at about 6 dB above the rest of the spectrum. That's quite a bit of bass boost, but at least it's flat. Then the response plummets to something like -12 dB in the 400-800 midrange, which messes up vocals completely. Lastly, the tweeter soars to a horrifying +12 dB at 4 kHz, right in the "icepick" range of the treble. Finally the response levels out before plunging into the -10 dB range above 10 kHz. * This isn't just a bad speaker. This is a textbook example of what cheap audio, meant to sound appealing in a showroom setting, is designed to sound like. At first listen they seem great. Low extension and bass boost, a spiky tweeter pretending to be "detailed", and mids that know nobody is listening. Crutchfield recommends using an amp with these. An amped system deserves bet
Pros: * Easy to install.
Cons: * Harsh tweeter * Overly loud low end * Recessed mids

Best deal going, easy install, great sound. Used the mounting rings in front door (predrill three 1/8" holes) and factory tweeter location. Mounted rear door speakers directly to the door panel with the oem screws and hole locations.
Pros: Super easy install and The crossovers are small cylinder shape. Makes for easy mounting inside the door panel. Great sound!

The bass response for these speakers are extremely lower than my factory setup. The highs seems better except for the blown speaker that came out of the box. I was so disappointed with these speakers that I actually shut my radio off on my hour drive to work

Great sound. Much better than factory tweeters
Jordan from Louisville, KY on 5/13/2016
2004 GMC Sierra 1500
I installed these on my vehicle about 2 weeks ago now to replace my factory front door speakers that buzzed. The sound is very noticeably different on the high frequency with the tweeters producing more crisp and sharp tones rather than the softer warmer tones from softer tweeters. They appear to be good quality. I installed the speaker baffles and would recommend purchasing them if you are installing speakers on a vehicle like mine. So far they have been a big improvement over the original speakers and I feel they are worth the price so far, but I don't have very much use on them yet.
Pros: Great sound quality, especially in comparison to original speakers. Appear to be made with durable materials, but still have good response.
Cons: They are on the more expensive price range for me. On my vehicle installing them in place of the original tweeter requires a little extra work since the cutout hole for the original is larger than the Alpine tweeter. Not a big issue though.

Sound Great, but
Droidianslip from portland, OR on 3/6/2016
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
I had to knock my five star rating because of the way the tweeters came equiped. The Woofer and attached cross over used four spade connectors. Two for the AF coming from the stereo deck and two for the tweeter. The tweeter had one 1/8" spade connector, but the other wire had some sort of dagger fangled thing that only loosely fit the hole in the spade connector on the woofer. Removal was impossible without damaging the woofer connector, but too loose for a reliable long term connection. Wire cutters and a new 1/4" female spade connector and wire crimper was the only way to fix. Hack the factory connector off install new one. I also had to use a hole saw to drill a new installation hole as they didn't fit the factory tweeter location. I understand component speakers are a pain, I'd call it bordering on insanity.
Pros: They sound great, big huge improvement over the stock 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Crew cab stock speakers
Cons: Supplied connectors for the tweeter were a joke, mounting options were a joke as well

Alpine for life
Sk8Board from Louisiana on 12/28/2015
I love these speakers, I have a 2005 Honda S2000. And after 6 years of owning it I got tired of the speakers that were in it. I've had alpine speakers before so I knew what to expect. When I was younger I had an Alpine Type R 12" sub in my 300zx and that thing hit so hard. I grew out of that phase but the sound in the s2000 was missing something. Went pick a pair of these up from a local big box store today and got them installed. And found out that my speakers I had in the car were Kenwood components 5.5" and they had nothing on these as far as clarity and bass. Just with a head unit these are more sound than I could have imagined for my s2k. Thinking about getting them for my daily driver Acura RSX as well because I love them so much!
Pros: Unbeatable sound for the price, alpine always delivers!
Cons: No cons!

Speakers seem fine but wasn't plug and play. In order to put these speakers in you will need to purchase a bracket and drill one hole in the bracket or use the bracket given with the speakers and drill 2 holes into the door and attach with a bolt and nut. Crutchfield suggest a bracket used for another car and after playing with it trying to figure out how to attach it to the speaker, we decided that it may be more secure drilling a few holes in to the door. If you are not comfortable with this, use Crutchfields suggested bracket and note you may need more screws depending on how you want to secure it to the speaker. Also, you will have to cut some of the plastic out of the Subaru tweeter housing to fit the tweeters in. Even so we found the casing doesn't snap back in as easily because the tweeter is a little deeper. It seems stable enough though and doesn't look awkward. I guess we will see how well it stays in place as we drive. The speakers seem to work better than the factory installation, we will have to have our daughter let us know about this ;o).
Pros: Seem like a nice setup
Cons: Not a perfect fit but manageable

Perfect match to a Veloster
APR from Indiana on 10/24/2015
2013 Hyundai Veloster
These speakers are perfectly driven by the factory dimension audio system (whatever wattage it is, I've found conflicting reports) without needing an amp, in a Veloster Turbo. Thats kind of a rare find. I normally expect to have to bypass the factory amp in my cars whenever I swap out the speakers. Its hard to find good information on what speakers fit this role for the car on the internet, but trust me. You will get so much more clarity if you use these when (and not if) the factory speakers blow. They were junk. And only 2 years old! In any case. You also will not need to worry about dynamatting or deadening, as the car is pretty well insulated and my pretty critical ears don't detect any. The job to install them however, should be left to a professional. In the installers words "If I knew how hard this was going to be beforehand, I would have charged you double". It took 5 hours to install the door speakers and rear speakers. Apparently the veolster is not the easiest thing to take apart. It seems that manufacturers have made what should be simple into a gigantic task that, even if you're good with the tools, has a lot of room for mistakes.
Pros: Fantastic bass clarity, not booming. Great treble and highs. Tested with a variety of music (cannibal corpse, blink 182, orbital) to try and find something to complain about. I couldnt find anything to complain about.
Cons: I can't stress this enough. Pay somebody to do the install if you have one of these cars.

Installed in my 1998 GMC Sierra Z71 pickup. These Alpine speakers have the quality sound that you would expect and were reasonably priced.
Pros: Very clear sound and easy to hook up.
Cons: The tweeters would not fit in my door where the factory tweeters were located, so I left them out. I had to use an adapter to mount the regular speakers in the door and the adapter didn't match up right with the mount area on the speakers. The speakers grille mounting holes lined up outside the diameter of the adapter when I went to mount the speakers. It was very frustrating but I eventually got the speakers mounted to the adapter. Be prepared to drill some holes in the adapter to make it work.

The mid bass is fine and clear, just what I expected. But the separate tweeters are way to bright. I had to turn down the amp and turn the treble on the head unit nearly off. They need a better crossover on the tweeters, they are way to over powering and bright.
Pros: Better than the factory I had which isn't saying much
Cons: Lacking a decent crossover for the separate tweeters.

Good sounding speakers
Dave from New Jersey on 2/11/2015
2005 Subaru Legacy
For the most part these are pretty good speakers. In my current install they are not powered by a separate amp but an alpine UTE 52bt head unit, in this setup they are not very impressive on the low end. I added a kenwood ksc sw11 powered sub to make up for this since I don't want to lose space to a typical sub install, this has made up for the low end deficiency pretty well and there is a nice full sound now. My other complaint is that the highs are a bit brittle and were quite honky before spending time getting the eq right. The tweeters seem a bit overpowered for the woofer so i plan to look into options for balancing that out. All in all these are good speakers but if I didn't have a head unit with a comprehensive eq I may feel differently. Even though the sound is quite good if I had it to do over I would try a different set.
Pros: Clean crisp sound particularly upper mid to high frequencies.
Cons: Low end weak and highs were brittle/tinny even painfully honky before spending time with the eq

Awesome Speakers! You won't be disappointed
MKov608 from Pensacola, FL on 1/1/2015
Car: '07 MINI Cooper; standard sound system. I'd buy these again in a heartbeat! This component speaker set sounds 10X better than the factory speakers or my initial attempt to replace them! The Crutchfield representative I spoke with knew exactly what my frustrations were with the old speaker setup, and his recommendation concerning these Alpine speakers was spot on! Thanks!
Pros: The woofer fits in the doors w/ out an adapter, so the door panel fits back on correctly; the sound is much better than the JBLs I had. I made the mistake of going with 2 pairs of coaxial speakers in the doors. After reading the audio section on an internet website (MINI Forum), I read that two pairs of coaxial speakers can cause problems. Crossovers are mounted on the speakers, but there is an in-line component too, so don't forget to install it.
Cons: Cons: It took a little while to construct adapters for the tweeters using the universal plastic panel kit, but with the aid of my trusty Dremel tool and the 565 multipurpose cutting kit, the install came out perfectly. Installation instructions are nothing more that a series of cave-man drawings on the exterior of the box. Some text instructions to go along with the pictures would be nice.

Good bass response!
Isaac T from Stevens Point, WI on 7/15/2014
I find the bass response from Alpine's Type S speakers to be excellent! Always impressed, even when running off a headunit's internal amp power (20x4). Off of the power pack, or even better a full 4ch amp these really come alive. They're very smooth, BUT a little brighter than their coax-counterparts. Mounting the tweeters are ear level on-axis can be a little harsh as some reviews mentioned, best to mount a little lower, like midway in the door panel of following the windshield's curve. This becomes less apparent when amped properly anyway, though. The crossover aren't anything to write home about either, but are easy to fit, of course since they're in-line. the tweeters also offer lots of mounting options. I like Alpine flush mount hardware more than almost any other brand.
Pros: Excellent bass from a speaker Good price and power handling Crossovers are small Works OK from headunit power, works great on an amp's power Come with Chrysler mounting brackets Good mounting hardware for tweeter
Cons: Crossover aren't amazing Tweeters can be tinny depending on mounting

The factory speakers have a single pair of wires leaving the head unit and somewhere in the dash they separate and the tweeter and woofer are wired in parallel. Worse than stock
Ralph from Richmond, CA on 4/27/2014
Purchased these for the front door with some SPS-510's for the rear. They sound worse than the stock speakers in my 2001 4runner Limited, muddled is the best description I can come up with. Using an Alpine head unit and a Rockford Fosgate PBR300x4. Swapped the paper-coned 14 year old stock speakers back in and they sound so much better. The Tweeters also are extremely tinny sounding and overpowering as others have said. I tried to muffle them by putting some foam in front of them and that helped a little.
Pros:
Cons: Tweeter is too loud and tinny. Cones are muddled sounding. Installation required cutting and drilling.

Great for tweeters in the A-Pillar
Sam from Madison, WI on 3/30/2014
I loved this pair of speakers! I had them in my Frontier for 3 years with daily abuse and they held up perfectly. Let them break in and you will love them too.
Pros: In-line crossover means you won't have to run a ton of wires if your tweeter is in the A-pillar or dash instead of the door. Bass response is good (Once they're broken in) Sound good with minimal power (14RMS from deck)
Cons: Tweeters were a little bit harsh when wired in with the woofers normally. In my truck I was able to wire the tweeters as the front and the woofers as the rear and then fade to the rear a bit to get them how I liked them.

This system was a great improvement over the old factory speakers. Much tighter base and I can actually hear the highs, now. If I were to do it all, correctly, I would install an amp because the speakers need more power, than the original system, to sound their best.
Pros: Relatively easy installation. Greatly improved base response.
Cons: Hot gluing the tweeters into the factor grill locations was a downside and the woofers had to be placed, just so, to ensure the screws would hold in all four places.

Great speakers for the price. The sound good, have nice range and are easy to install - the crossovers are small tubes that zip tie neatly to the wiring harness.
Pros: great sound, especially considering the price
Cons: installing separates is more work

This speaker was an excellent match for my Alpine MRP-F240 amplifier and Alpine Alpine SPS-406 in rear. The bass was better than I expected and the tweeters are awesome! Installation was a easy, my only minor challenge was determining which adapters to use. Over all I am very satisfied with sound quality and installation.

Great Component Speaker for Lowe Price
AlD from Poughkeepsie, Ny on 9/27/2013
I currently have these attached to the factory head unit of my 2012 GMC Sierra - and are a significant improvement over the factory paper speakers (which were not horrific - considering this is a basic Work Truck). I did not use the factory tweeter mounting positions, but rather I drilled a 2" hole into the door 'sails', which allows you aim the tweeters at the occupants, rather than the windshield. The factory head drives these just fine for now ... but I will be installing a dinosaur Hafler amp to wake the system up a little. Will also be looking to upgrade the rear pillar speakers behind the front seats (standard cab) at that point too.
Pros: Neutral, well balanced sound...not harsh or boomy. Reasonably priced.
Cons: None yet ...

Does not work well with factory Stereo
J.O. from Austin TX on 9/7/2013

Does not work well with factory Stereo. Sounds "tinny". The rear speakers recommended by Crutchfield work great. I called tech support and the Tech new right off the bat that my factory system would not drive these speakers. Hmmm.... Not very pleased. Now I have to buy a new stereo and an adapter for the steering wheel controls.
Pros:
Cons: In spite of recommendation, these do not work well with the factory stereo.

Great speakers for the price. Very pleasant balance!
Gyakusetsu from Denver, CO on 9/4/2013
2009 Volkswagen Jetta
These speakers are a great upgrade from my factory ones. After overhauling everything else about my system, I figured it was time to finally ditch the cardboard Volkswagen 20-watt speakers and get something that could handle more power. I can easily say I was not at all disappointed by these! the sound quality is very clear and detailed with the separate tweeters. Bass response is a little lacking, but nothing a subwoofer can't fill in for you (mid-bass is very nice). I have these hooked in to a 75-watt/channel amplifier and they BUMP! Even with the volume up as high as I can stand it, the soundscape is clear and full and the dynamic range is at a comfortable level that doesn't pain you to listen to. Silk tweeters balanced very nicely via the crossover. Crossover is easy to mount/ziptie to something in your door. I stuck mine to some existing window control wires and have heard no interference when using the windows. The crossovers are pretty well shielded and let the tweeter actually produce a decent amount of sound without over-emphasizing the super high-end treble that makes my ears hurt (anyone with plastic tweeters knows what I mean... yuck!!). I know these aren't the greatest possible speakers in existence (I wish Klipsch made car speakers), but for the money, you'll definitely be satisfied. Best example of clarity: analog/vinyl-esque clicks and pops... made me think something was wrong with how I mounted the tweeters... but they're just that good!
Pros: clear, loud, well built, comes with TONS of extra mounting hardware for any situation. Foam adhesive pads and circles were a nice touch and hold my tweeters in place very nicely in factory locations.
Cons: Tweeter wire is VERY long. I suppose it is better than being too short, but I had to get clever with zip ties and tucking to get it all out of the way. Kind of a con... but if you ever have to disconnect the terminals, you have to insert a flat tool in the terminal connectors to get them undone or else they will NOT come off.

Alpine Speakers
Crutchfield customer from Corpus Christi, TX on 8/27/2013
2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
This is my first time buying Alpine speakers, but I've always heard nothing but good things about Alpine and these speakers are no different. I've had them installed for a little over a week now with no issues. Got an Alpine Receiver matched with the Alpine Power Pack for my door speakers. Have these installed in the front doors of my Chevy Silverado Ext. Cab. Easy install. Speaker harnesses make it a clean install with no wire splicing. These things are loud!! Lots of clarity with no distortion, even at high listening levels, which you could expect from a good set of component speakers such as these. I have a 10" sub @ 200 Watts RMS in a sealed enclosure, so I'm not using these door speakers for bass. This system meets my listening standards. I listen to everything from metal, to rock, to country, and sometimes the occasional hip hop song. I like it very loud, crisp, clean sounding like it was meant to be heard. Arrived when expected. Great price. Very satisfied with my purchase. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Big improvement over the factory speakers
James from Buffalo, NY Installed in a 2011 Chevy Malibu on 8/21/2013
2011 Chevrolet Malibu
What a difference these speakers make! I've installed many speakers in my vehicles over the years, Sony, Polk, Pioneer, and Kenwood. These Alpines are by far the best. The speakers are very crisp and accurate. They're great for acoustical music and vocals. Instillation of the woofer was a breeze with Crutchfield's speaker mounting bracket. I stealth mounted the tweeters in the factory location. It did required some minor cutting of the plastic around the factory speaker bracket, but it wasn't a big deal. I then used some epoxy to glue the Alpine bracket to the inside of the pillar and the tweeter slipped into the bracket. You can't go wrong with these speakers. The sound is phenomenal and the installation was relatively easy.
Pros: Great speaker for the money.

Nice sound upgrade
JFM from Colorado on 8/16/2013
2004 Volkswagen Jetta
These speakers provided a nice upgrade to the factory VW speaker system in the 2004 Jetta wagon. Fuller bass range and crisper mids/highs than the OEM stuff (even with the factory Monsoon head-unit/amp). Installation was fairly straightforward except for a few variances from the MasterSheet. For the front doors, these speakers are not compatible with the adapters provided-- but an easy workaround is as follows: -per the MS, remove the factory speakers and place the speed clips (with a bit of hack-saw ingenuity, not mentioned in the MS) -the speakers come with mounting brackets/rings ; break off the tabs along the outside of the "ring"; use a properly sized drill bit to drill out the threads of the brass mounting eyes. -align the mounting slots on the speaker rim over the brass holes and those two things over the speed clips. -use the long screws included with the speaker kit to attach the speaker + mounting ring to the door (via speed clips) It is also possible to replace the tweeters in the "sail" with the included tweeters. Remove the sail (one screw and a clip). Use a knife to separate the in situ tweeter (this an irreversible process) from the sail. Use contact cement or similar adhesive to attach the tweeter to the sail. Re-wire with your choice of connectors. Rear door tweeters can be replaced in a similar but not identical fashion. Rear door installation of the larger speakers is as in the MS.
Pros: Great sound and a lovely upgrade. Plays nice and clear at higher volumes.
Cons: Slightly more vehicle modification than expected, but not too difficult.

Great sounding component speakers. Installed them in my 01 GMC Sierra, replacing factory speakers. Bass speakers mounted easily with provided bracket. Tweeters were a little more involved as the factory tweeters were integrated into their mounting. I used a rotary tool to remove the tweeter from the bracket, then mounted the new one with one of the many mounting options provided from Crutchfield.
Pros: Good bass for the size of the speaker 6 3/4 overall the set delivers a nice crisp sound.

Bright with bass at right settings
joc1394 from Hagerstown, MD on 7/15/2013
I bought these to replace the stock "Premium" Pioneer speakers installed in my 2007 Honda Civic EX Coupe. The stock pioneers were more than adequate, considering that most stock sound systems are not that great. However, after almost 140,000 miles of use when the stock headunit became possessed, it was time to overhaul the entire system. I hot glued the tweeters into the stock locations in the dash, which has worked well for over a month. These speakers sound very good, although I needed to carefully set the crossover on my new JVC headunit around 60Hz to get the best bass out of these. If you don't set the crossover and send all frequencies to these, they don't sound quite as good. If you're looking for better bass, there are better choices out there. You will probably need to have a sub installed with these to get the real low-end. NOTE: These fit the front doors of my 2007 Honda Civic EX Coupe, as expected from the Crutchfield "Fits My Car" tool, but NOT the rear deck location as indicated... They were too deep and hit the rear torsion bars for the trunk lid.
Pros: Crisp, bright sound with just a touch of bass with proper crossover settings. Excellent clarity.
Cons: Just a touch of bass...you'll want a subwoofer to go with these.

Replaced my factory spkrs in my 2008 crew cab chevy 3500 (without Bose) front doors w/pillar tweeters, when I purchased these I thought I would have to add speaker wire between woofer & tweeter ,turned out I didn't have to. I removed my old tweeter , used a hot glue gun to hold new tweeter in place (seems to work just fine) I still have factory deck but these sound a lot better than factory. I also replaced rear speakers at the same time , the factory deck don't seem to push much wattage to rear channels, but altogether it sounds better than factory by far !! If I upgrade to a new deck and a 4 chan. amp (around 50 amps per ch.) I think it would improve a lot , and get full perf. out of all 4 speakers . But sounds good now w/ no distortion even at high volume ranges
Pros: Easy install even with running new wire to new tweeter.Sounds great !

06 Tacoma Double Cab Front Door Install
Bill from VA on 6/12/2013
2006 Toyota Tacoma
These Alpine component speakers are sounding great. I listen to everything from Metallica and Rage to Waylon and Cash to Eminem. All of these different genres sound good! Installing the woofers was a breeze. The tweeters on the other hand took some time. I was able to take tin snips and cut the factory tweeter away from the bracket, then use a dremel to file down the pieces I cut. The Alpine tweeters fit through the opening and the lock nut screwed on and hold them in place very nicely. By doing this I didn't have to make a bracket, the factory one with the new tweeter went right back on the door. I mistakenly found out that if you cut the factory tweeter wire, at the speaker, tape the red and black wire off, and plug the factory tweeter harness back into the factory plug it came out of it, will allow the new tweeter and woofer to work by attaching the Alpine woofer and tweeter speakers together like they should be. I didn't have to cut, splice or connect any wiring other than from the factory tweeter I had taken apart anyway. Maybe just by having the factory tweeter harness connected keeps the speaker circuit in tact. All I know is it works! and sounds great! All the electric windows and door locks work too! lol
Pros: Sound quality

The treble is excellent, and the high mids are very clear and concise. Still tweaking the EQ settings on my stereo to get it perfect.
Pros: Clear treble, and mids.
Cons: Not quite so much lower mid bass levels. That's probably because I don't have it hooked up to an amp, just my aftermarket Jensen head unit. Factory speakers were louder, however didn't sound nearly as "complete"

2011 GMC Sierra Install
AJB from Maquoketa, IA on 2/24/2013
2011 GMC Sierra
Great speakers for the money. No comparison to factory junk speakers after you install these youll see how terrible they are! Real crisp highs and mids and decent base. Wouldn't say its quite as nice as the Bose system in the Denali's that ive rode in, but not far behind with not having an amp and installing to a factory radio! Installation took a little time but wasnt terrible, running the speaker wire through rubber between the door and the A pillar is a tight fit but it will work. I wanted to mount the tweeters in the factory location so had to do that. A little modification was required to fit the tweeters to the widow pillars, trim the inside of the tweeter grill with a exacto and hot glue it in place it will just barely go in there but it looks like factory when its done. I paired these up with the two way 610s in the rear doors which were simple to install very happy with all of it sounds great!
Pros: Sounds great real nice improvement for the price(front and back)
Cons: Can't think of anything but a the time it takes to install plan a half day for the front anyway

TrentM from Miami, FL on 2/2/2013
Bought some to go in the front door and back seat locations, and they fit and sound great in both locations! The back seat location will only use the mid-range speakers. Once again, however, Crutchfield is incorrect. For the front door locations, you do not have to bypass the Monsoon amp. The stock speakers are mounted coaxially, but are set up as component speakers, so they get both a mid-range and tweeter signal. Just look on Google for the wiring diagrams so you know which wires are for the tweeter signal, and which are for the mid-range.

Couldn't ask for more
Dan from Des Moines, IA on 10/16/2012
I bought these speakers to put in the front door of my 98 Chevy Prism, and I could not be more impressed. I custom mounted the tweeters in the top of the door using a 2" hole saw to cut a spot for them. The tweeters were far easier to mount than I was expecting because of the ring that they came with to screw on behind the door. All I had to do was cut the hole, and screw on the ring! It improved my sound stage drastically and added an incredible amount of clarity to my music that I didn't even know I was missing before. FYI I have subwoofers so I have no idea how these speakers perform on the lower end of the bass. However, speakers this size aren't made for super low frequencies so that wasn't something I was looking for to begin with.
Pros: Fantastic clarity in both the high, midrange, and mid-bass frequencies. Everything was fairly easy to install.
Cons: The mounting bracket Crutchfield sent didn't work with these speakers because the screws included were too short. However, I was able to use the bracket that came in the Alpine box. Everything worked out great in the end.

Installed these speakers in all 4 door panels, in my 2008 Chevy HD Crew Cab. I flush mounted the tweeters towards the top of the door panel, which required a 2" hole drill bit. I replaced the factory radio with an Alpine 2 DIN stereo (CDE-W235BT). I am powering the new components with a 4 channel Alpine amp, which is rated at 75 watts per channel. For a subwoofer, I chose the JL Audio 8" microsub powered by a 300 watt Alpine mono amp. These speakers sound awesome. The sound is truly amazing over the factory Bose system they replaced. I couldn't be happier.
Pros: Great price, sound, and quality
Cons: None that I can think of.

Awesome Highs
AdrianM from Coachella Valley, CA on 7/17/2012
2000 Dodge Durango
These speakers were a bit of a pain to install. Alpine sends no directions and the supplied Master Sheet was less than helpful, except for pulling off the door panels. For my model of SUV, 2000 Durango, I had to use the factory spacers and take apart the stock assembly. No big deal but as a first timer and no directions it took me some time to figure out what to do. The left window bracket will prevent you from installing speaker in the front door so you'll need the spacer. I put these in with a 4 channel amp. I turned the amp all the way to zero across the board during the install. When I first turned on the stereo I was thinking, "Yeah that sounds alright." Then I tuned the amp and what a difference, it was like opening the door to a concert in truck. For the rear doors I put in Polk Audio's DXi650s. They are a great compliment to each other as the Polk pick up a bit more of the base. I'll be adding 2 Kicker 10's to this system with it's own dedicated amp splitting the power. Half going to each 10. These speakers will eventually be used to only pick up the mid's and highs. If you plan to use these speakers definitely get an amp to power them, your factory deck won't cut it, and you'll be glad you did. Also, the directional tweets are a nice touch, but you'll need to be creative about where you're going to mount included crossover.
Pros: Great sound, lots of extra parts to help with install
Cons: No directions from Alpine of Crutchfield to assist with install. You may need to be creative.

Alpine SPS-610C
claytown24 from Landenberg, PA on 7/11/2012
I bought the Alpine SPS-610C and Alpine SPS-610 speakers a few weeks ago, upgrading all front and rear door factory GM speakers in my 2006 Pontiac Torrent. I replaced the front component speakers with the Alpine SPS-610C, and the rear with the Alpine SPS-610 two-ways. The sound difference is amazing! I am pleased with the difference. I am totally happy with my Alpine SPS-610C speakers, but one thing I am not happy about is the tweeters. As someone has already mentioned, the tweeters are almost too overpowering. Not enough bass and too much treble for me personally. Also, when I turned the volume up on my head unit (Pioneer DEH-3400 UB), the tweeters would make this annoying crackling noise- I could barely turn my speakers up past 30 on the volume level- even after reducing treble. After trying to mess with the audio settings for quite some time, I finally gave up on the tweeters and put the stock tweeters back in. The stock ones do not crackle, even with the volume up, which kinda upset me because aftermarket tweeters, I would think, should be able to handle that kind of power. Other than that, the woofers are great, and the two-ways are great as well.
Pros: Great sound, woofers & two-way speakers can handle well at high volume
Cons: Tweeters aren't the best

01 Extented Cab Silverado Installation
Norm from San Bruno, CA on 6/24/2012
2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Excellent upgrade from stock "Premium" sound system. I used SPS-610C with XTC baffles in the front doors and SPS-406 with 800hz Bass blockers, XTC baffles in the rear, retained the stock radio. Sounds great!! THANKS Kevin. As soon as I save up my allowance I'll be getting a new receiver. an Alpine CDE-HD137BT maybe.
Pros: Easy to install. The hardest part was getting the door panels off, with breaking them and repairing the damage a previous owner did. Everything is included from Crutchfield, wiring adapters, generic instructions. Excellent customer service. THANK YOU THANK YOU
Cons: Alpines instructions. REALLY pictures only, I can read. Lots of left over parts with NO explanation as to where, when or why to use them.

Great Value

I was looking for an upgrade from the stock 6.5" speakers and I decided to get these. They are easy to install yourself, though don't count on the directions packet as modifications are not included in the instructions. However, the tweeters are small and fit nicely between the metal door frame and the vinyl covering, and the screw on retainer makes installation a cinch. I would recommend using a drill press if you nee to drill a hole and you will need a 2" cookie cutter bit. Oh, and get the grills. Highly recommended for the price.
Pros: good value, clear, thoughtful setup, easy installation

2009 Acura TSX Tech Package
Brandon from Pataskala, OH on 6/5/2012
I have a 2009 Acura TSX Technology Package. If you too have one you understand the need for upgraded speakers. The Alpine SPS-610C is a great upgrade. The sound is so much clearer. I did not need an aftermarket amplifier. The Alpine speakers are completely compatible with my factory set up and the installation is simple. Everything still looks stock. I would highly recommend this upgrade.
Pros: Excellent sound. Price doesn't break the bank.
Cons: None

These replaced the OEM speakers in a 1998 Nissan King Cab. The original speakers stopped working so I thought I'd try this as a replacement. Install was easy and sound better than the OEM ever did.
Pros: All good

GREAT SPEAKERS!!!
MichaelH210 from Houston, TX on 3/31/2012
I must say, these are quite the speakers. They are constructed very nicely and you can tell from the sound that they produce! WOW! I shopped around for a WHILE reading many reviews on various speakers and finally went with these. Boy, am i glad i did! For this price, i dont think you can find a better speaker out there! and to my surprise these speakers have a very decent amount of mid and high bass, but the low is lacking a little, although that is expected with a 6 1/2" speaker! I have these in my front doors along with the 2-way 610's in the back doors, all powered by my aftermarket sony deck. Overall a great buy and i would definitely not hesitate to buy again. and again. and again!!! You can definitely be confident in your purchase of these speakers!

Sounds great

Speakers fit well and sound very good. Install took longer than I had hoped, but notes said some customization would need to be done. First door took a couple of hours the second door took 20 minutes!
Pros: Sound good and had all the tools to make them fit. I would buy again.
Cons: Tweeter was a complete new install cutting a hole in the door trim -- looks great though. Took a while to figure out.

Alpine SPS-610C
BR from Louisiana on 2/20/2012
1996 Toyota Tacoma
I just have them running on a factory deck so I know the quality is going to subpar. Overall they sound great even on factory setup. Can't wait for my deck to see what they can do, but sound is really crisp no rattle they handle miss very well, the tweeters are crystal clear for your highs. The speakers will handle some bass if your not running them on a dedicated amp. Verdict is great product for the money if you want clean sound without breaking the bank.
Pros: Clean sound for price
Cons: Tweeter crossover kinda bulky.

Excellent sound quality, far better than the "old" Bose they replaced.
Pros: Dollar for dollar an excellent value. Great sound quality for the dollar. If you're going to add Amps, I would take a step or two up from these.
Cons: None really.

Awesound
Leon B. from Dallas,TX on 10/14/2011
After careful consideration and a little help from the audio geeks at "The Field" I made the purchase. Installation was the easiest in my 2002 Nissan Pathfinder (rear doors) the adapters were spot on perfection. Now, the sound...the sound is great highs, mid's and lows are all showcased with this pair. Once the wife gives the green light they will be my choice for the front doors as well. Get this set and enjoy your music all over again.

too bright, too sibilant
RonO from Atlanta on 8/27/2011
The woofers sound fine, but in my install the tweeters are in sail panels. The tweeters are overpowering the woofers and even the subwoofer in my install. Reducing the treble setting to -5 helped, but the balance of the tweeters to the woofer is still way out of balance. The tweeters are very sibilant. After a couple weeks of installing them, I built -6 db L pad circuits to tone down the tweeters. This has helped to improve the balance. Perhaps if the tweeter were mounted closer to the woofer, it may improve the balance out of the box. If I had it to do again, I think I'd look for component speakers with a real crossover network that has a built in l pad adjustment.

Great Quality
I must say this kit was a big jump from pioneers or anything I had before the quality was outstanding, it comes with a lot of different parts incase you didn't have tweeters before and your mounting some for the first time along with a lot of brackets and things to help the install. No real instructions that I could find but I have installed before so it wasn't a problem. One major thing though please if you are amping these do not push them right away, wear them in little by little till you get the right power and pitch you desire otherwise they are bond to blow. Another thing, just because they say peak 240 don't put that kind of strain on them I have mine running at 160 watts at 45 Hz and they sound great.

Awesome upgrade from factory speakers
Jim.D from Sydney Australia on 4/21/2011
Installed the alpine sps 610c components in the front doors of 2008 ford falcon using the factory head unit and they sound 300% better than stock speakers. They have great highs mids and pretty good lows. Sound much better than i expected. They compliment the sps 600 coaxials in the rear doors. Also have the ktp 445 45watt x 4 power pack amp. Would highly recommend these speakers for the price
