After 3 years, disappointing

Bought this for the Salamander 5-shelf stereo rack about 3 years ago. The drawer is functional. It's great to have a place to keep record brushes, stylus cleaner, remotes, and other accessories handy, and much better in a drawer than just setting them on an empty shelf. But this particular drawer is falling apart after just 3 years of light use. The back is coming off and the drawer sliding mechanism isn't working as well as when I bought it. If I'm careful when I'm using it, it's fine. But it's certainly disappointing that a $200 accessory is so mediocre.

If this were shipped assembled, instead of flat-packed, it would probably be a 5 star product. The cam-locks need some coaxing to function, and even still the pieces don't line up perfectly. As-is, with the provided hardware, I wouldn't feel comfortable loading it up to stated weight capacity. With a little wood glue and a mallet, it should be fine. It does look good and fits the rack nicely. Drawer slides are of good quality, as well.
Pros: Good slides. Looks good on the rack.
Cons: Provided hardware could be better. Fits are not perfect. Doesn't feel as stable as it should as-is.

Salamander Designs Archetype Media Drawer

This drawer is a great addition to the Archetype A/V stand. It's well made and the drawer slides are smooth. I have the black stand and this drawer matches perfectly. It's nice that this drawer can be added without disassembling the stand. The instructions aren't great but there aren't many pieces, and if you've put together Ikea furniture you won't have much trouble.

Utter Waste Of Money

Do absolutely anything with the money you would spend on this and be further ahead!!!! Construction is real cheap ! Instructions are poor, pictures only ala Ikea, but worse. Posts that attach to the front panel were seemingly suppose to have a groove for a flat head screwdriver to twist into place. Mine were completely flat. Tried to use a tack hammer to put in place and immediately blew through the core and outer substrate. Do NOT buy this!!! Beyond disappointed. Had this product been made of metal, it might be worthwhile. If I were able to assemble this drawer, I still would think it was not worth the cost!!!

Poor construction. I had to use a Dremel tool to make the bottom fit. Poor instructions. Once built, it is OK, but does not slide as smoothly as it should.
Pros: Good size and not super expensive
Cons: Mine was poorly constructed Poor instructions
