Stinger Heigh10 Tacoma Package
Jonathan from Ontario, Canada on 5/28/2025
Disappointed by the Stinger Heigh10 Infotainment System I purchased this unit a few months ago for my 2019 Tacoma, excited by the sleek design showcased in advertisements and YouTube videos. The product looked promising, and I had high hopes for an upgraded driving experience. Paired it to my S24Ultra and the Waze and Google Maps display was noticeably blurry, text and lines appearing out of focus and colors looking completely washed out. The main menu screen of the unit is sharp, vibrant, and impressive, but w/ Android Auto drops the resolution far below 720p, nowhere near the quality I was expecting. I wiped my phone to factory restore & repair and still same disappointing display. Reached out to Stinger's customer support, and after several back-and-forth emails with different representatives asking for proof via images, they provided no solution. I realized that their promotional materials only showcase the head unit itself not how maps actually display. It became clear that this unit is not optimized for Android Auto. Strangely enough, Apple CarPlay offers a somewhat sharper image, but even that lacks the vibrancy of the home screen. This infotainment system fails to deliver especially considering that my son's car recently got a cheaper one online, and it looks way sharper and vibrant than this Heigh10. At this price a huge disappointment.
Pros: Unit looks nice and with harness kit install is very simplified
Cons: Waze and Google Maps display was noticeably blurry, text and lines appearing out of focus and colors looking completely washed out. The main menu screen of the unit is sharp, vibrant, and impressive, but w/ Android Auto drops the resolution far below 720p, nowhere near the quality I was expecting. I wiped my phone to factory restore & repair and still same disappointing display.

Would not recommend

Not worth the money. I had this unit installed a year ago. You cannot turn off the hands-free option for the phone without disconnecting Bluetooth. Every time you get in the vehicle your phone will automatically switch to Bluetooth regardless if you want to or not. The only way to make that stop is to disconnect Bluetooth so every single time you get in the vehicle you have to reconnect your device to the head unit. MAJOR inconvenience. You're supposed to be able to customize the color of the back light on the buttons but mine will only go to a specific shade of purple and cannot be changed. The preset channels for the radio continually delete themselves. I have called customer service and the guy was surprisingly rude considering how expensive these units are. If given the chance, I would not buy this unit again nor would I recommend it.

Love this head unit

Absolutely love the OEM fit of this unit and Crutchfield did a fantastic job ensuring I had everything needed for the install. It's been long overdue to upgrade the original factory unit in my Tacoma, love the Apple car play, and the maps are fantastic for navigation with the 10" touch screen. Screen itself is very responsive so you don't have to "mash" down on the screen. Unit is ready for stereo upgrades including more cameras. I did, however, run into an issue with getting my SiriusXM satellite to work, think I may need an additional adapter but haven't tried contacting Crutchfield just yet, no worries, I can still use it through the Apple CarPlay.

Contacted local install shop. Was told that they were going to charge $650.00 to install. Looked at multiple YouTube videos and installed it myself. Took my time and install the head unit myself . Everything worked as flawlessly.

Looks great and the screen is fantastic. The CarPlay works great doesn't freeze up or move slow. Sometimes I have to turn the car off and turn it on again because the phone won't connect to the stereo. The power output for the speakers is pretty weak but other than that it is a great stereo.

Easy install. The reverse camera in my 2019 Tacoma is blurry. I put it in yesterday and driving home today it said this device is not supported or something. The phone is not near as clear for the people I am talking to.
Pros: Easy install
Cons: Lots.

Stinger RB10TAC16B Toyota Package
Crutchfield customer from Hebron, KY on 1/2/2023
The Stinger does fit, look OEM, and is plug and play.but that is where the good ends. The external mic is inoperative, the AM radio reception is strong, but there is bleed over from other stations making it unlistenable. The power output is pathetic. Sound is week, OEM radio sounded better. I've addressed these issues both with Stinger and crutchfield. Stinger blames the installer and offered no resolution. Crutchfield ran me in circles testing test tones to confirm what I already know. The Stinger was part of an entire new system. Hertz Miele front components, Morel coaxel rear door speakers, JL audio jd4 amp for all door speakers and a JL audio powered sub. The JL audio sub and amp were professionally installed by a local car audio shop,(who also confirmed the system doesn't sound right). I'm lost on how to troubleshoot any more. I am a customer, not a pro audio installer. I've been trying to talk with a specific tech at Crutchfield but he is difficult to get in contact with after he tells me to test something else. OVER $4,000 into this system and it sounds terrible, no bass, no depth, very hollow. I've been trying for a few months to get the system sounding properly but life gets in the way and so does trying to get in contact with Crutchfield tech and the pro audio shop who installed the amp and sub. Very disappointed and frustrated. I guess it's all my fault, I'm the one who purchased this equipment, thinking I could make an awesome sounding car audio system. Nope.

Huge Stinger Upgrade for 2016-19 Tacomas
Stephen from Reidsville, NC on 8/24/2022
2016 Toyota Tacoma
Major upgrade from the Entune 2.0 in my 2016 Tacoma. If you have a 2020+ Tacoma this may be a downgrade depending on trim level. Finally have the ability to run CarPlay and take that plastic phone mount off my dash. Looks great, functions well, and easy to use. Instal was super easy and can be done yourself with help from a YouTube video. You will lose the stock vehicle diagnostic pages like gas mileage, maintenance reminders, and driver settings like door locks and lights. Make sure those are set before you remove the old head unit. Also on the dash display you will lose the navigation page and the music page. All steering wheel controls are retained and they work perfectly. Overall, it was worth the price for me to bring my truck into this decade.
Pros: CarPlay, easy install, kit has everything you need.
Cons: 15 second boot up, Bigger screen means lower stock back up camera resolution
