I'll start off with my setup. I am using this in a business where the furthest distance between a customer & a speaker is about 18 feet. Background Music playing 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. I have six 200watts, 8ohm, easy to drive 92dB, Def. Tech. AW6500 [now discontinued] speakers. I also have the OSD Pre-1 (preamp purchased from Crutchfield) in mono mode RCA out to the BUS input on the Russound. Speakers are hooked up in stereo mode [this leaves me with a 4th zone available for two more speakers in the future] meaning I'll bet getting 50 watts max per channel. On the Russound, I have all channel levels dialed to about 75% [mainly to limit volume from the preamp so that the employees don't play music too loud]. POWER IS MORE THAN ENOUGH to cover the listening area. On a busy day, I don't ever need to go past 75% on the preamp volume. The sound is crisp, clean, & distortion free. Russound does not get hot like the Denon did, but I still have a top exhaust fan unit just in case. The only thing I'm not use to are the tiny speaker connectors, had to attach a 14awg wire towards the end of my existing 12awg wiring, and even then I feel like at any moment it'll just slip off. Oh well, at least the amp doesn't get moved and the front of the amp has status lights for each zone in case a wire slips off and causes amp to go into protect mode. So far in the near month that I've had it, its perfect. Just hoping for long term reliability.
Pros: 50 watts is PLENTY of power does not get hot removable rack brackets price
Cons: speaker terminal

Great amp, nice price
Crutchfield customer from Nashville, TN on 9/21/2021
Nice piece of gear. It was easy to hook up and was exactly what was missing from my outdoor setup. Powers bigger speakers nicely. Amp does kick out without a signal (between songs), but does come back up quickly.
Pros: Easy connection, rack mountable, great sound quality.

Product works fine so far. I'm not sure about long term durability/reliability. I wish I would have bought the Niles 12 channel amp.

Excellent whole-home amp at a great price
Crutchfield customer from New York, NY on 6/19/2021
This is a fantastic amp! Sound is clear, mid- and upper-range is tight and bright, and bass is full and rich but not boomy. It's extremely well made--very "premium" build quality, and thoughtfully designed (the removable speaker wire clamps/mounts were a godsend in my tight cabinet). I hooked up three old Airport Expresses and now have wonderful, modern three-zone Airplay2 sound in my 4 zones, so I can play to any or all rooms and control everything from my iPhone. (I wish they made a model with several built-in Airplay2 receivers! Would be Juke killer... esp. since the Juke amps are only the older Airplay v1.) So glad the Crutchfield reps recommended this amp! Did a lot of searching - their customer service and expertise is second to none.
Pros: Superb build quality. Full, rich sound. Easy connections. Smart auto on/off. Good price for such a pro amp!

Very nice multi-channel amp. I used this with two Sonos Connect boxes to feed 4 different speaker pairs. I like how each channel can be adjusted individually as well as grouped to the main bus or separated on its own. I used it with 3 grouped channels on the bus and a standalone channel. The unit does come shipped with the volume all the way down on all channels so make sure you adjust that before installing it and wondering why it isn't working. haha. I also like how the unit is rack mountable, though I didn't use it in that configuration. I would definitely buy one of these units again.

Great amp, easy set up but turn gain levels up right away
Tom from Bronxville, NY on 12/22/2017
This would have been a five star review but the fact that there was no mention about the amp being shipped with the gain level controls set at zero. Left and right screw dials are potted all the way down out of the box. Yes, I should have noticed it sooner but it is not obvious to a layman. There are no volume dials, just the gain level screws. After getting the unit connected to my speakers there was no sound and I wasted a good half hour troubleshooting every component in our system only to have an "Oh, #%&*! moment" when I realized the gain level was at zero. The rest of this amp is wonderful, including the set up. Very easy. The speaker terminals are removable so you don't have to go crazy matching your speaker zones if they are not labelled. Just switch them around. The amp runs very cool and that is perfect because we have it in a small closet. Note to Russound: put a warning sticker on the unit or manual alerting us non-pros to the fact that the amp ships with the gain set to zero.
Pros: Compact size, runs very cool, clean sound.
Cons: Gain level controls are potted to zero out of the box so be aware of that or your will have no sound after connecting speakers. Use a small screwdriver to turn up the L and R levels.

Great multi-room amplifier for a great price
Patrick from Frisco, TX on 9/2/2017
This is a great little amplifier that is well priced, very well built and functions extremely well. I especially like the fact that if a specific channel is shorting due to positive and negative wires touching, it does not blow a fuse or stop amplifier operations, but instead, gives a flashing LED light to indicate a problem status. The only downside is the speaker terminal connections, which require tightening with a screwdriver, from above, which is difficult in tight spaces. However, this produce deserves an overall great rating.
Pros: Well built, nice features, good sound
Cons: screw terminal speaker connectors
