Loving Fosgate Speakers!!!

Amazing sound quality! I am very pleased with the upgrade. Very clear and vivid sound! :) Easy to install and came with all the wiring and mounting accessories in the boxes!

Fantastic Clarity and Upgraded bass for stock head unit

Absolutely loved these so far. I installed this set on my 2021 Subaru WRX and the sound difference is crazy. I previously added a subwoofer to my system but a problem I ran in to was that when there was any distortion sensed from the speakers I spliced into (needed for running a stock head unit), the stereo would cut both bass and volume to save the crappy stock speakers. Since installing these, I have not had that issue once plus they sound amazing. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that is questioning wether or not if they want a component speaker setup.

Great sound, insane difference over stock!

The install was so easy and the sound quality is fantastic. We don't even have an amp or sub hooked up and the bass is amazing. We didn't think the tweeters would make much of a difference and almost opted out of installing but glad we didn't. They actually tied the whole system together and the quality is unbelievable. This was purchased as a gift for my daughter who hates her car but she just found a new love for it.

Disappointed

I recently upgraded my cars speakers with some sound ordnance p67cb components. I was pretty happy with the quality, but I was curious if spending a little more would yield a noticeable sound improvement. Once I these Rockford's in, I found the tweeters WAY too loud. Like, I thought the crossover had to be broken loud. I ran into this problem with the sound ordnance speakers too, but the crossovers came with a tweeter level switch, which brought them down to a comfortable level. I mistakenly bought these thinking they would come with that switch, but no. For more than double the price, I would expect that! I had to lower the high end a LOT in the EQ for them to be anywhere near comfortable, and even then they still sound a little harsh. The sound quality is clear and contains good bass otherwise, but is it double the quality of the lower end set? No, not even close for me, but I guess that's the thing with audio. It's very subjective, so my sound preference may be another man's bleeding ear. I might let them break in for a little while, but I think I'll end up trying another set. Maybe new tweeters.

I am pleasantly surprised at how good these sound for the price point. The bass is solid, and the tweeters sounded better than expected. Definitely worth every penny.

Five Stars for Crutchfield!

No Hardware

I just received P164-SE. No hardware. In the box 4 speakers, 4 tweeter mounts, 2 woofer grills, 2 crossovers, and wire. No screws, nuts, clips, nothing. Off to the hardware store.

Excellent Speakers

Installed on a Chevy Silverado 2021 Custom, 7" LCD non-Bose. Way better than stock speakers. Happy Crutchfield included free mounting bracket. I used butyl seal tape on the mounting bracket to seal to the door. Also bought speaker rings from Amazon and placed around speaker to seal it more. Passive crossovers made installation a little harder, I had to cut the speaker wire at the kick panels and not much wire to work with - I used Posi tap connectors, you just patience and a small needle nose plier to help with holding posi tap connector. Not sure if passive crossovers makes a huge difference but too late now, they are in and speakers sound great.

A definite upgrade from stock

Only had them in less than a week but noticed a difference from the stock speakers. Once they break in should notice a big difference. Will be getting an amp soon so that should really make a difference. If you don't have an amp, remember they have a break in period to really come to life.

I never knew speakers had to be broken in, but it seems that these speakers sound better after a few weeks. They replaced factory speakers with cracked diaphragms, so any ol' speaker would be an improvement. At first, I was unimpressed with the bass output, but it seems to have gotten better with a bit of time. If a lot of bass is your thing these may not be the speakers to choose, but then again, they're 6-1/2" speakers so bass is limited. The sound output is very clear, I've noticed that I can understand spoken words with less volume. As for fit, the tweeters snap right into the factory mounts without any modification. The Crutchfield supplied wiring adapters do not include an adapter for the tweeter, so you'll be forced to choose either using the included crossover or devising a way to using the factory tweeter wiring. I chose to use the crossover, which seems to be fine. Overall, I'm satisfied with the speakers.

Horrible sound, OEM was better

Installed these speakers, they are absolutely horrible. Half the bass and volume of OEM, tons of distortion. Installation is in a 2000 Trans am. I want my money back!

So let me start off by saying I don't normally give reviews but I must on this one. I originally bought the JL C1-165 and JL 400/4 but once I got them hooked up I was sadly disappointed and didn't know what to do next. After talking to Crutchfield CS (very helpful and friendly) they told me to just send them back and get something new. So I looked at so many options my head hurt and narrowed it down to the RF, Hertz, and Focal. Normally I would have said that RF was not in the same category as the Focal and Hertz but I WAS WRONG.... These speakers hooked up to my JL amp and tuned in blow my mind. These things are worth the $$$ and much more. The highs are crisp and clear (and not overly bright) and it hits the lows as any good mid should. Trust me when I say if you want good quality sound these are they way to go. I've payed 2/3 times more for Hertz and Focal in the past and let me say these sound just as good. I'm a freak about good sound theses deliver. Please do yourself the favor of giving them a good quality amp. I didn't test them on the deck as everything was already installed but the way they sound on my JL is awesome. So there it is. Hope it helps others when looking for new speakers. And 5 stars to Crutchfield!!!!!!! P.S. Dyno your doors if you can, these things will thank you.

They Rock

These speakers are great. Clear as a bell. I was able to pop out the factory tweeters from bracket and with a little modification I was able to install new tweeters in bracket.

Honestly I wasn't expecting such clear sound from these. The tweeters can be bright if you want them to I backed them down a little and they sound really good. You can hear things you haven't heard before. The woofer has exceptional bass with it without an amp. I'm running these on a rf 300x4 and wow I'm impressed.

Great speakers

I put 2 sets of these in my bmw 325i and connected them to Rockford R300X4 Prime 4-Channel Amplifier and added 12 inch P3 subwoofer and fosgate mono class D 750 watt amp for sub. Kenwood 2 din dvd head unit. This is loud clear and shakes my neighboors windows You not only hear the music but you feel the music while sitting car.

Speakers sound amazing in my 2010 Tacoma. Found out the hard way that the speakers had been changed once before and harnesses cut so installation was not as easy as it normally would have been. Tweeters do require some fine tuning as are a bit overpowering if left untamed, but with the right EQ settings they sound great.

Awesome highs!

I put these speakers in the rear doors of my 2007 GMC 2500HD to replace a coaxial set of JBL's (I don't remember the model). My original amplifier went out and I wanted to put components in the rear. I paired them with a Rockford Fosgate Prime R400-4D 75x4 and they sound AMAZING! I have a component set of JBL's in the front that I plan on replacing with these in the near future. The highs are extremely crisp and are not over powered by the mid's or by my set of 10" subs under the rear seat. The JBL's sounded great but I bought an amp with a lower RMS wattage and needed speakers to match. I'm very pleased with the set up so far and I can't wait to replace the components in the front to get the wattage matched up! I mainly listen to 80's style rock so the RF's were the way to go.

Absolutly Incredible

had a f-type jag 2016 for 2 weeks which had a meridian sound system and these speakers running off a Rockford amp. Kicks the blazes out of the meridian system,these sound incredibly good when amped up off a good amp.i cant get my head around how good they sound.and it all fitted straight in the original speaker mounts in the car which is a bonus.best system I ever had and ive had some really good systems.

Big sound, small package

What impresses me the most about these speakers is the way they sound so much bigger than they really are. I've installed the mains in the bottom of my front door (where the factory speakers were) and the tweeters are in the trim panel at the top by the mirrors. To hear them, you'd think there were two more in the area somewhere. The crossovers do exactly what they need to do, and the sound that's delivered is astounding. Of course, anything that replaces a factory speaker will sound 100 times better, but it's the way these speakers deliver that sound that makes the biggest difference. It's not just what I expected; it's well above that.
