These are good shallow mount subs. I've put the power to them for years and they hold up good. Just installed 2 more in my truck for a total of 4.
Pros: Shallow mount 2 or 4 ohm Strong coils Good for trucks
Cons: Expensive but worth it

Not what you expect from Rockford Fosgate.

This sub woofer is not of the quality I have come to expect over the years from Rockford Fosgate. The build quality is generally poor with some separation and very uneven bonding of the poly-foam surround. This speaker has a low output, I built a custom sealed box with .9 cubic feet and powered it with a RF 500 watt rms amplifier and got very poor performance. The speaker bottoms out very easily and has a ton of distortion being powered and enclosed to RF's specs. I am returning this speaker and have purchased this subs big brother the Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-12 also from Crutchfield I had a great customer service experience in getting my new sub and returning my old one. The Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-12 is incredible its night and day compared to its little bro, Excellent build quality, superior, materials, and most important Killer performance it hits hard and clean with minimal to no distortion and has an incredible amount of output for a shallow mount, It hits like two twelves in a band-pass ! I am super happy with both my new sub, and my experience with Crutchfield
Pros: none dont buy this unless you have no other choice Absolute Garbage ! Shame on you Rockford Fosgate !
Cons: Everthing

I put it in my car cause I haven't run the wiring on my truck yet, but it works well.
Pros: Heavy bass great quality. Directions. For wiring
Cons: It is a little different setup from a standard sub I was unsure how to wire it at first

Just got one of these hooked up today. I must say I couldn't believe the sound that this one sub puts out in my truck( 2001 ford f350 crew cab). I bought it in a pre fab enclosure and it sounds amazing. It'll crank as loud as the head unit will go and no distortion, crisp clean bass, and hits the lows fairly well. If your looking for something that's not gonna break the bank and sounds great. This is it!

Rockford 12 ' s low profile not low on bass.
Charlie from Tallahassee, FL on 9/10/2014
This is the bass I always wanted in a thin package. In a custom cabinet I found online, two of these fit behind the seat of my crew cab Ford F250. Nobody knows they are there. With 500 watts rms running mono @ 2 ohms, these have a solid, clean bass that is as perfect as I have found. No distortion at higher volumes either.
Pros: Nice thin fit. Clean sound. Solid construction.
Cons: Probably gonna get a ticket now for loud stereo....
