Rockford Fosgate TM400X4AD
Joseph from Bulverde, TX on 4/8/2025
This little Power beast plays plenty loud and puts out some clean sound! Rockford technology at its finest. I am running it in my 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser to front and rear Focal K2 Power separates. The amps are hidden behind the rear panels, which makes for a clean install. If you are looking for something simple without any custom mods, this is a great solution.

not for me, it screwed up my RF head unit
John from OMAHA, NE on 10/21/2024
Well made unit but ... there was no mention that it comes with no power cable and you must buy the amp kit. After finding that out and after hooking everything up, the radio lost FM tuning and volume and was ether full blast or nothing at all, my RF head unit didn't work correctly at all. I disconnected everything and went back to just the radio and RF speakers front and back and the head unit works just fine. I'm sure a pro could figure this out but I already spent 700$ on the set up. Color me disappointed.
Pros: well made and small enough to fit under the fairing
Cons: Comes with 4 speaker wires with no ends on two, the other two are RC, no instructions worth anything, no power cable, no mounts unless you get the amp kit, and after all that it still doesn't work.

Good amp ruined by poor product design
Thomas from GILBERT, AZ on 6/15/2024
2022 Nissan Frontier
Fantastic amp but the positive and negative power wire inputs are nearly a dealbreaker (zero stars). The 8 gauge amp wiring kit FROM Rockford Fosgate is WAY too thick to fit into the tiny + and - power connectors. I ripped my hair out for weeks trying to make a solid connection. Bought 8 gauge to 10 gauge reducer / adapters and even they were too big to fit into the tiny openings. Grinded them down to about 12 gauge and they fit but would not stay secure. I live near Rockford Fosgate's headquarters in Tempe so I drove there! The super friendly and kind tech guys said, "yeah they're tight" but couldn't offer a solid solution. Ended up carefully shaving the 8 gauge wire down to about 12 gauge to make it fit securely. What's the point of their expensive amp wiring kit if it doesn't work with the amp?? Extremely poor design that literally BREAKS an otherwise great amp. I would not buy this amp again.
Pros: Sounds great
Cons: Wiring connections ruin this amp Amp runs extremely hot all the time

Powerful Performance, but Handle with Care
Skyler from Otsego, MI on 6/7/2024
2021 Ram 1500
The TM400X4AD BUMPS! There is no question about the power of this unit. It provides very nice clear crisp audio and it drives my 4 channels very well. The clipping indicator lights are fantastic to know when you're pushing just a little too much, nice added feature. However, this unit gets very hot. Its in a well ventilated area, and within the first 20 minutes, its too hot to touch. I've read similar reviews saying the same thing, but it needs to be known - I would not run this amp without a cooling system of some sort. I have purchased computer fans to keep this unit cool and run air over the cooling fins. The power is nice, but I don't trust the longevity, heat is the #1 killer of electronics.
Pros: Powerful amp for the footprint Small compact size Feature rich
Cons: Longevity is questionable Runs very hot

Pros: Small. Waterproof. Big sound.
Cons: The power and ground terminals suck. Says 8AWG wire required and it's too large to fit the terminals in the connector. Had to get reducers to fit. The input and output connectors are identical. Some engineering changes are due for this Rockford Fosgate amp

Rockford Rocks my Camaro!
Randy from FRESNO, CA on 2/15/2024
2005 Chrysler 300
There is not a lot of storage room in my 2002 Camaro SS convertible so I was looking for an amp and setup that would not infringe upon that limited area. I wanted a powerful but compact amp to install in the original mounting location for the factory Monsoon amp. I experimented with a few different amplifiers and finally opted for the Rockford TM400X4ad. I used a Metra 70-2002 radio connector and pinned it correctly for the speaker wires which allowed me to easily tap into the factory wiring harness from the original amp connector, allowing me to use the existing speaker wires. 4 gauge power wire runs from the battery to a circuit breaker and then up the right side of the car to a 60 amp fuse and the amp. I routed the RCAs from the head unit up the console, through the carpet between the rear seats and into the trunk area. After fashioning a mount out of 1/8" ABS plastic, I screwed the Rockford to it and then mounted it to the original bracket. It is just the right size for squeezing back into the stock mounting position!
Pros: Love the built in clip lights for set up which made that chore easy. It was good to see that, on the input side, my Kenwood Excelon DMX958XR did not clip all the way up to its max volume. This amp screams and provides plenty of power to the front CDT Audio ES-60CV.2 speakers and the rear Earthquake Sound SWS-6.5" shallow mount woofers
Cons: Not too crazy about those captive c-clamp connectors in the power plug. You need a thinner insulation 8 gauge wire to fit inside the slot that leads to the actual connectors. Most of my 8 gauge cables did not fit. Fortunately I had a bit of 8 gauge Esoterica wire from years ago that did fit. I still found it difficult to adequately secure the power and ground without them trying to back out. I fastened down those wires to my mount with zip ties so they are less likely to work loose.

Victory Cross Country Tour 2016 - Volume with System Protection
Crutchfield customer from Sullivan, MO on 2/28/2020
Installed on 2016 Victory Cross Country Tour, under front fairing, across aluminum fairing frame using aluminum sheet metal bought at the hardware store, and drilling and threading hole on brake side of frame. This powers Polk MM525, 5 1/4" speakers in front fairing, and Kicker 5.25 in speakers in tour pack/trunk. This replaced the previous (short lived) Rockford Fosgate PBR300x4, that kept blowing the speakers, and was over heating. This helped as it has its own fan, and provides more power for the volume I wanted at high speeds, and maybe most importantly has signal clipping indication, which shows the maximum I can turn my system to without damage.
Pros: Fans for overheat protection, while in slow traffic. System protection with signal (clipping) indication. Power for volume.
Cons: Power and ground wire connectors not sized properly for recommended wire size, could be bigger.

Big clean power, small chassis design
Brian from Port St Lucie, FL on 10/28/2018
Replaced a 20 year old volfenhag amp that was rather large. This amp is just as powerful with a much smaller footprint. The wiring and installation was very easy and the sound quality is very good. Glad to see that technology is making big power out of small chassis designs. Recommend to others.
Pros: Very small chassis which makes it easy to mount, clean powerful amp. I turned it up to max level for 30 minutes continuously, the amp got hot but never cut off. I am impressed. My kicker amp when it gets hot shuts off to protect itself.
Cons: None to talk about

Sounds good, but there's fitment issues
Len from Dayton, OH on 5/3/2018
I installed this amp with the amp mounting bracket on a 2013 harley road glide. The head light wouldn't fit in the fairing afterwards. I was told by customer service at rockford fosgate that they're aware of the fitment issue and that I'd need to cut a one inch square off the amp bracket for the head light to fit. I cut the bracket as instructed and the headlight still doesn't fit because the amp is in the way of the head light. I disconnected the left head light so it would fit back in the fairing and am only using the right head light at the moment. Maybe I will put the amp in the bag and remove from the fairing so both head lights will work. With the fitment issue this deserves one star. But after adding the RF 6x9 bag speakers with this amp, along with focal front speakers and aquatic head unit with serius. It does sound very good. Hence 2 stars instead of one
Pros: Good sound
Cons: Does not fit in fairing of 2013 road glide as advertised. Maybe I'll install in a bag

Disappointed
Crutchfield customer from Astoria, NY on 11/9/2017
I was so excited when the amp arrived Wednesday just in time for my big trip Friday( 3 day weekend ) I installed the amp everything was smooth until I turned it on to check it before puttin the roadglide fairing on and no left channel. Ok maybe I did something wrong I pulled out the amp checked all connections and found that the speaker output plug coming out of the amp is the cause when pressure is applied it works when released the left speaker shuts off . I put the bike back together using the rear outputs until Crutchfield sends me a replacement when they come back in stock date unknown. I was so mad I recorded the event and will be posting a video on YouTube about it unless someone makes this right for me. Right now I feel like this is just another overpriced piece of junk!
Pros: Easy install, no cutting wires
Cons: Mine doesn't work

Great for 2015 Harley Ultra Classic
Paul from Florida on 12/14/2015
Installed this on my 2015 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic and what a difference it has made. I also installed Focal speakers and tossed the hog tunes speakers in the trash! When I pump up the volume, you can hear the music two blocks away. I am a happy camper.
Pros: Very clear and no distortion. LOUD! It will blow you off the bike.
Cons: Must get the radio flashed at the Harley shop with the instructions supplied on Rockford Fosgate web site. Once the flash is done you need to select the two channel mode. Once the flash is done, the head unit looses the front and rear fade capability and does not send out rear speaker signals. The Amp in 2 channel mode does send the output signals to both front and rear speakers. Once you fine tune the Amp, you will have one heck of a sound system.
