Features

Ported Wood Cabinet w/ Full-Range Mono Driver: The Tivoli Audio Model One features a furniture-grade, handmade, real-wood cabinet that is both beautiful and acoustically inert. The Model One uses a single 3.0" heavy-magnet, long-throw full-range driver for great sound. The 3.0" full-range driver is mated to a frequency contouring circuit that automatically adjusts output over half-octave increments, resulting in musically accurate tonal balance and bass response. The enclosure's down-firing port provides added efficiency and bass-response.

Henry Kloss Analog AM/FM Tuner with 5:1 Analog Tuning Dial: The Tivoli Audio Model One is equipped with a Henry Kloss analog AM/FM tuner for precise radio station tuning. To take full advantage of the AM/FM tuner's high sensitivity and selectivity, the Model One uses a precise analog tuning system with a geared-down 5:1 ratio analog tuning dial for accurate, easy selection of the maximum number of stations. The 5:1 tuning gear ratio provides easy, accurate tuning. A front-panel LED tuning indicator illuminates amber and is brightest when the best tuning has been achieved (some listenable AM stations will not light the tuning indicator and should be tuned by ear for the clearest signal). The tabletop radio's internal FM and AM antennas provide good reception in most applications. Locating the Tivoli Audio Model One near a window will provide better reception. The unit is also equipped with an external FM antenna and features an external AM antenna connection.

  • Internal/External FM Antenna: The Model One BT features a built-in FM antenna. An alternative to the tabletop radio's built-in FM antenna, is the pre-installed telescoping external FM antenna.
  • Internal/External AM Antenna: When listening to AM, rotate the Model One BT itself to align the internal AM antenna for improved reception. There is a 3.5mm external AM antenna input for connecting an optional AM antenna (sold separately) to achieve even better AM reception.

Audio Connections: The Model One AM/FM radio is equipped with the following rear-panel audio inputs and outputs.

  • Auxiliary Input: The Tivoli Audio Model One features a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting an external device (such as your CD player or MP3 player), so you can listen to audio from the connected device through the Model One's mono speaker.
  • Record Output: The radio's 3.5mm record output (fixed) lets you record music from the built-in AM/FM radio to a connected tape-deck or CD recorder. You can also use the Model One's record output to the connect the AM/FM tabletop radio to your home entertainment system.
  • Headphone Output: The Model One radio is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone output for connecting a set of stereo headphones for private listening. Connecting headphones will mute the Model One's mono speaker.

Source Knob: The Model One tabletop radio is equipped with a 4-position source knob - AM, FM, Aux, and Off.

Volume Knob: The Tivoli Audio Model One features a rotary volume control knob which operates the volume level for the unit's mono speaker and headphone output.

AC Power Adapter: The Tivoli Audio Model One operates off of standard household AC current using the supplied AC power adapter with attached 68" cord. The unit features a front-panel LED which illuminates green when the unit's power is 'On'.

Placement: Place the Tivoli Audio Model One on a flat, stable surface (do not block the bottom bass port). The Model One radio is not video shielded and should be kept at least 5" away from a computer monitor or television. The Model One can be positioned vertically, as well as horizontally. Placement in a bookcase, cabinet, or close to walls or corners may increase bass response.

Q
Looking for info. Just got rid of the near $200 cable bill and went to an outdoor antenna for tv, and I'm looking for an AM/FM radio solution to add to my Polk 9500BT surroundbar with Bluetooth sub. Will this little radio's record out jack on its back side connect to one of my Polk's analog source jacks and allow me to play the radio through the sound bar? Or is there another way? The Polk rocks for what it is and I'm looking for an affordable and easy radio connection to it and this little unit looks sharp and would be the perfect fit to both ear and eye if I can hook the two together. Thanks for any info given.

I don't have blue tooth, not able to answer your question. I went thru 2 radios that were defective, the third works ok has pretty good reception.

I have a Tivoli Model One connected to my JBL sound bar and it's awesome... Although the radio has one speaker, the output on the rear is stereo.I could not be more pleased. Satisfied customer

Both the rec out and headphone jacks would give you audio out from this radio. Keep in mind the jacks are mini 1/8 size not RCA. If you use the rec out jack you would need to turn the volume on the radio down so you would only hear audio through your sound bar. Nice looking little radio that sounds pretty good.
mark  Apr 20, 2020
A
Yes you can. I do not know any reason why it would not work. Only thing you need to turn down the volume . I would start with volume totally down. Otherwise you could wreck or ruin your sound bar. Now I do not know if your sound bar will let you switch back and forth. That is something you would have to check out.

John H., I'm pretty unsophisticated about this stuff, but I can tell you that I connected the Tivoli radio to a portable CD player. It worked fine, with the CDs playing through the radio. Whether it would play sound through the device you connect it to is something I don't know. I'll also tell you that while I like the style and sound of the radio, tuning it manually can be trying. Good luck. Jack G.

Q
Does this radio have : 1) electric cord or run on batteries? 2) I have poor am/fm radio reception; does your radio have superior am and fm reception or does it rely only on an external antenna which will improve most radios? thanks, Jim

A
it has a cord. it has a small wire external antenna. reception is good and sound quality is excellent.
thomas  Feb 12, 2018
A
It uses a power cord only.Recption for Am and F Recption is adecuar with supply antena.
antonio  Feb 12, 2018
A
Hi . This radio comes with a cable to connect it in 110AC. It does not run on batteries, but if it has a 12 V DC input that can be connected to a 12V car battery with the correct connector. The FM reception can be improved with an external antenna. For AM reception you can rotate your radio by placing the front of it to the south or north or east or west because the AM antenna of this unit (like most receivers with AM) is only Bidirectional and not Multi directional.

Uses electric cord. I use a Terk indoor antenna with excellent reception.
james  Feb 12, 2018
A
The Tivoli Model One uses AC power (electric cord) and has excellent FM reception with the included antenna. I researched this radio extensively before purchase and was completely satisfied with the performance, quality and purchase price.
frank  Feb 12, 2018
A
1) This uses an electric cord, no battery option. 2) I use the straight wire external antenna that comes with the radio and get good reception, but then I live in a major metro area.

Q
Where can I purchase an a.m. external antenna?
james  Jul 16, 2021
2 answers
A
Ever since Radio Shack went out of business, this question is a bit more difficult to answer. You need a plug-in antenna with a 1/8" plug on one end (a "banana" plug), and this might just be available at your local Wal-Mart, in the electronics dep't. Hope this helps.
charles s.  Jul 21, 2021
A
You could clip a 10-15 feet of wire to the telescoping antenna with an alligator clip or purchase an external antenna from Amazon or other electronic shops. Placing the radio next to a window also helps.
