Features

UltraSafe Lithium Jump Starter: The Noco Boost Plus GB40 is a portable lithium-ion battery jump starter pack that delivers 1,000-amps (7,000 J3S) for jump starting a dead battery in seconds. The Boost Plus GB40 powerful lithium jump starter is capable of jump starting up to 20 vehicles on a single charge. It's rated for over 1,000 charge cycles and holds its charge level for over a year with minimal power loss. Its designed for a car, boat, RV, truck and more with gas engines up to 6 liters, and diesel engines up to 3 liters.

  • 12V Lead-Acid Battery Compatible: The GB40 is designed to jump start 12-volt lead-acid batteries down to 2-volts. If your battery is below 2-volts, the Boost LED will be "Off". This is an indication that the GB40 can not detect a battery. If you need to jump start a battery below 2-volts there is a Manual Override feature, which allows you to force "On" the jump start function.
  • Spark-Proof Connection & Reverse Polarity Protection: It features a patented safety technology that provides spark-proof connections and reverse polarity protection making it safe and easy for anyone to use.

Note: Most vehicles will immediately start. Some vehicles may require the GB40 to be connected for up to 30 seconds before starting. If the vehicle does not start right away, wait 20-30 seconds and try again. Do not attempt more 5 consecutive jump starts within a 15 minute period. Allow the GB40 to rest for 15 minutes before attempting to jump start the vehicle again.

Simple User Interface: Noco designed the GB40's user interface to be simple and easy to understand. LED status indicators display the internal lithium battery's charge level and charging status. Error indicators show when connected in reverse polarity or temporarily disabled for thermal protection. Or simply turn on the LED flashlight, recharge a USB device, or use manual override for deeply discharged batteries.

Heavy-Duty Battery Clamps: The included heavy-duty battery clamps span 23" in length, and capable of reaching most battery posts or chassis ground. It features a high-temperature silicone wire insulation that remains extremely flexible down to 0°F and withstands high levels of duress and even prolonged exposure to high temperatures.

100-Lumen Dual LED Flashlight: The GB40 feature's a built-in rechargeable, lithium-powered LED flashlight with seven light modes - 100%, 50%, 10%, SOS, Blink, Strobe, & Off. With multiple luminosity settings, it's immediately adaptable to a variety of situations. Use it's powerful flashlight will help you see your engine, changing a tire at night or even warn oncoming traffic when disabled and needing of roadside assistance.

Built-in 2.1A USB Output: The built-in 5V/2.1A USB-A port can power and charge your USB devices - such as smartphones, GoPro cameras, wireless headphones, and more. Devices that are used frequently, like phones and cameras, often require more power to run all day than the device's battery is rated for. The GB40's battery pack extends the life and running time of your device. Plus, powering your device from an external battery pack will reduce the internal battery's charge cycles, extending the usable life.

USB Charging Input: Recharge the GB40 using its USB-C input, the included cable (USB-C on both ends) and a device with a powered USB port - AC adapter, computer/laptop, etc. (not included). The time to recharge the GB40 will vary based on the discharge level and the power source used (actual results may vary due to battery conditions).

USB Charger Rating 0.5A 1A 2A
Charging Time 12 hours 6 hours 3 hours

Notes:

  • The GB40 comes partially charged out of the box and needs to be fully charged prior to use.
  • Due to FCC regulations, we recommend not charging and discharging the unit at the same time.

Charge LEDs: The GB40 has four Charge LEDs - 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. These Charge LEDs indicate the internal battery's state-of-charge (SOC).

  • The 25% Charge LED will pulse while charging and will be solid Red when the internal battery is 25% charged.
  • The 50% Charge LED will pulse while charging and will be solid Red when the internal battery is 50% charged.
  • The 75% Charge LED will pulse while charging and will be solid Yellow when the internal battery is 75% charged.
  • The 100% Charge LED will pulse while charging and will be solid Green when the internal battery is fully charged.

Rugged Compact Design: This compact, pocket-sized lithium jump starter is IP65 rated (with ports closed) to protect it against water, shock, dirt, and dust. It's 8X smaller and lighter than traditional battery booster packs and conveniently stores in a glove compartment, center console, trunk, or toolbox.

Protection Circuitry: The GB40 will display an Error Condition when a reverse polarity condition is present, a battery below 2 volts, or the internal battery overheating. The Error LED will be solid Red when polarity is reversed or will blink Red when the internal battery is too hot. The Boost Light will not come on if the connected battery is below 2 volts.

Auto Shut Off: The GB40 has a built in energy saving feature that will automatically turn the unit off after 7 hours. To continue using, simply power on the unit again.

Q
How many cold cranking amps does this have?
ray  Dec 29, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Ray, and thank you for your question. There is no CCA listed for the GB40 booster, but its just a booster for the times your battery does not have enough energy to start your vehicle. You might get CCA information from the manufacture, but if its not listed anywhere, you might not. I have this GB40 myself, and have jumped 7 times on a single charge. Temperature matters as well as colder vehicles use more energy to turn the motor over.

Q
Can you store it inside your car without any problems? The owner's manual says not to store in temps over 122 and never over 178 or around there. What's the point in having a jump starter if you can't keep it in the car?
brian  Jul 11, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Brian, and thank you for your question. The operating and storage temperature is at 122 degrees. The warning is to let one know operating this under any conditions above 122 degrees may result in injury, or damage to the unit itself. I personally own the same GB40, and have kept it in my car since day one in summer and winter. It gets above 122 degrees in my vehicle in the summer months, and have had no issues to this point and its been over a year now. Like a battery, this will lose energy faster at higher temperatures.

Q
Will it still charge a car if it's under 32 degrees ?
rosalie  Feb 12, 2021

A
I started my Subaru Forester yesterday when the car temperature was 29 F. The car started immediately. Without the NOCO booster, the car battery could not quite turn over the engine. The NOCO booster was also at 29F. I have not tested it < 29 F.

I charged a car when the temp was around 24 degrees & the Noco GB40 was in my trunk ice cold & it charged the car with no problem.

How long does it take to charge boost box before charging?

This is NOT a charger, it's a jump starter. It only took a few hours to get mine fully charged, but it had sufficient charge on arrival to have helped start a car.

when i first got my Noco boost i think i charged it for six hours.

How easy. tell me the steps to hook it up to my wife's car battery?

It doesn't work. My wife's car had a dead battery, and I followed the instructions carefully. The unit was fully charged, but my wife's car still wouldn't start. A fellow from the auto dealership showed up with a different brand, and my wife's car started right away.

Red cable to positive + and black to the other polo on switch and done
alex  Jan 21, 2021
A
Easy, just follow the simple instructions given in the manual enclosed with the unit, which it's only different in the connection process. Positive with positive, negative with negative, push the on button and wait for the bars to light up completely. Start the car. Hope this helps you start your wife's car.JADF

Correcting my response from yesterday. Just pulled mine out of the vehicle, it's made in China. Sorry for the previous misinformation.
thomas l  May 20, 2020

Designed in USA but unfortunately it is made in China, but it is a great product.

Sad to say but China
chase  May 19, 2020

Their headquarters, design, and engineering are in the US but manufactured in multiple countries. Mine specifically was made in China. I love these, I've had five of these types of devices and these are the only ones that have worked well for me. I was most impressed by it starting a 4.7l v8 where the battery was completely dead, dash lights weren't even coming on. I will say I'd get the gb50 if money is not an issue.

Q
how often do I have to charge my unit?
jesse  Oct 25, 2019
10 answers
A
Not very often. Depending on use. I like to TOP OFF mine every three months or so. With NO USE.
arno a.  Oct 26, 2019
A
In my experience, very rarely. I've had mine two years and I think I've charged it twice in that time, with one actual use for jump-starting and otherwise just sitting in the car toolbag. If it isn't used it will hold its charge for a very long time. I'd say check it periodically and you'll probably find that it will only need charging after being used a few times or after a long period of storage.
david  Oct 26, 2019
A
I haven't needed to charge it very often, maybe once every 3-4 months, especially if I have used it. Fortunately, I have not needed it often, but when I have, it's always come through. If it hasn't been used, I have noticed that after about 4 months it still has at least 80-90% charge left in the lithium ion battery, which is plenty for several jump starts. So far, very happy with the unit.
dale  Oct 26, 2019

After using this unit a few times, I fully charged it and have not used the unit for over three months. I just checked the unit today and it is still fully charged.
ben  Oct 26, 2019
A
Not a lot. I have used mine about 5 times and fully charged it twice.
migdalia  Oct 26, 2019
A
You should charge it every time you use it. In this way, it always has full charge. Even though you do not use it, it keeps the charge for a long perid of time.
ada de  Oct 26, 2019
A
I only charge my unit after I use it,or if it's showed its low on the indicator ,
bret  Oct 26, 2019

I gave this to my son as a gift. I was at his home a few months later when his neighbor needed a boost but car was parked where his cables wouldn't reach. My son pulled this "Genius" out of his truck (he had never needed to use it after the initial charge) and used it to start his neighbor's car. So, every few months should be sufficient to re-charge it, depending on either really cold or hot weather. I would certainly err on the side of making sure it's charged before going to the wilderness or taking a road trip. Hope this helps.
robert  Oct 26, 2019
A
I charged my unit only two times since December 2017, amazing product , very handy and easy to used.
