Excellent NOCO Product You Can Count On For Years

I purchased this to replace a NOCO GEN1 ten-amp onboard charger that I had installed under the hood of my Silverado pickup in 2009. That charger put a stop the initial short battery life (2-3 yrs.) I had in the pickup due to the slow drain caused by its security monitoring and remote sensors. That drain is enough to kill the battery if the truck isn't driven for a month, and it often isn't used more than once a month as I have multiple other vehicles. Keeping that battery charged with a NOCO has meant battery life improved to eight years. A recent severe thunderstorm was the apparent reason the NOCO GEN1 failed after so many years. My 2006 Silverado still looks new with only 14,000 original miles. After the first battery died, I also purchased a NOCO GB70 lithium Boost charger in 2010 that I take with me in whatever I'm driving. The GB70 is a really light battery booster that will start any car or pickup in the event of a failed battery. So far, I've only used it twice and once was to recently help a woman start her car at a grocery store. Her battery was completely dead and the GB70 allowed her car to start in seconds. As I use AGM batteries, I like the new NOCO GENPRO10X1 has a dedicated switch for battery type with auto memory upon reconnection of the power cord. The additional lights offer some additional insight into the actual battery condition that the old NOCO GEN1 didn't offer - it only had an amber power/charging light and a green light to show a fully charge

Pros: Lighter and smaller than its predecessor, the NOCO GEN1, the NOCO GENPRO10X1 needs less room under hood for secure mounting. Roughly 2 pounds lighter than the NOCO GEN1. Better monitoring of actual battery condition. Can be used with new lithium batteries that have a built-in charge management system. Works to improve poor battery condition due to sulfation and stratification. Charges batteries with as little as only 1 volt of charge remaining.

Cons: It comes with a smaller gauge power cord than its predecessor. Battery connection cord has no quick connect like some other NOCO products.
