More details on the Viper 412V

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Viper 412V keyless entry system lets you add remote operation to your vehicle's existing power door locks. It features built-in door lock relays with ignition control, dome light supervision, parking light confirmation flash, as well as 2 auxiliary outputs for adding optional remote operated conveniences.

Door Locks: The 412V's built-in lock and unlock relays can integrate into most any vehicle's door lock system (additional parts may be required for some vehicles). Door locks can be activated with one of the included 4-button remotes and include other operational configurations such as:

  • Passive Locking: The Passive Locking feature, if activated, will automatically lock the doors 30 seconds after the ignition has been turned off. This feature requires that the Failsafe Starter Kill feature be turned on first to access Passive Locking. If the system is unlocked with the remote, it will re-activate the door locks in 30 seconds if the ignition isn't turned on during that time.
  • Progressive Door Unlocking (Driver's Priority Unlocking): The 412V can be configured to allow the driver's door to be unlocked with the first push of the unlock button and unlock the rest of the doors with a second push within 15 seconds. Additional parts will be required to wire in this feature for most vehicles.
  • Comfort Closure: This feature is designed to integrate with vehicles that can close the power windows or a sunroof by holding the key in the driver's door lock position. If this feature is programmed on, the door lock output will activate the Comfort Close output for 20 seconds. If during that time the system is unlocked, the Comfort Close output will stop.
  • Double Pulse Unlock: Some vehicles require two pulses on a single wire to unlock the doors. When this feature is activated, the Blue/Black unlock wire will output two negative pulses instead of one.
  • Double Pulse Lock: Similar to the Double Pulse Unlock, this provides a two pulse door lock output for certain vehicles equipped with a factory "deadbolt" lock system.
  • Door Lock Pulse Duration: Some European vehicles use a vacuum pump locking system that requires longer lock and unlock pulses. The 412V's default setting is 0.8 seconds, but can be changed to 3.5 seconds or 0.4 seconds. This last option is used by some vehicles to prevent the windows from moving during locking.
  • Ignition-Controlled Door Lock/Unlock: This feature allows the door locks to activate 3 seconds after the ignition is turned on and unlock when turned off.

Parking lights: The Viper keyless entry system includes a high-current parking light output, both positive and negative, to flash the parking lights while locking and unlocking. An internal jumper allows the polarity to be switched for either type parking light system.

Dome Light Supervision: The 412V can activate the dome light for 30 seconds after being unlocked with the remote control, allowing for better visibility at night. The provided Dome Light Output wire gets tied into the vehicle's dome light wire while the Dome Light Input wire gets tied to either +12 V or ground, depending on the polarity of the factory dome light system.

Ground When Armed Output: The Ground When Armed Output wire provides a 500 mA ground as long as the system is armed/locked. This is used for automatically activating optional add-on features such as a Failsafe Starter Kill relay or a window roll-up module.

Auxiliary Outputs: Two Auxiliary Outputs are provided on the 412V. Channel 2 supplies a 200 mA ground output when the Aux button on the remote is pushed for more than 1.5 seconds and will continue outputting as long as the button is held. This is most commonly used to operate a trunk-release or other relay-driven functions. When Channel 3 is programmed for use, it will output a 200 mA ground output as long as both lock and unlock buttons are pressed simultaneously, typically used for activating an add-on remote starter or window roll-up module.

Horn Honk: The Horn Honk Output wire will provide a 200 mA ground output to honk the vehicle horn once when locking and twice when unlocking the doors. It will also output pulses for 30 seconds if Panic Mode is activated. Vehicles with a positive horn system will require an additional relay (sold separately) to provide +12 V to the horn wire. Note: The horn will only honk when the system is in audible mode, by either pressing the Lock button on the remote a second time within 5 seconds or by pressing the Aux button prior to pressing Lock or Unlock.

Valet Button: A push-button Valet switch is included, which allows access to the programmable features such as Passive Arming and Door Lock Pulses. It also serves as an emergency override if a starter kill relay is installed and the Failsafe Starter Kill feature is activated. If the keychain remote is lost, the system can be "disarmed" and the starter kill relay released, by turning the ignition key On and pressing the Valet button once within 10 seconds. This button is also used to put the system into Valet mode which prevents it from automatically locking/arming and activating the Failsafe Starter Kill feature while having the vehicle serviced or left with a parking attendant. The Valet button should be mounted in a hidden location, but easily accessible by the driver. It will require drilling a 9/32" hole and needs approximately 1" of clearance behind it.

LED Status Indicator: A dash-mountable blue LED is provided to display the status of the keyless entry system at any time, as well as provide visual confirmation while programming optional features. Multiple LEDs can be wired together in a series configuration, but care should be taken to never wire blue LEDs with red ones. The LED indicator requires drilling a 9/32" hole and approximately 1" of clearance behind it.

Will this work on a 2000 express van with factory power door locks?
lynwood  Sep 11, 2023
1 answer
A
I do show that the Viper 412V is compatible with your 2000 Express Van with factory power door locks, Lynwood. The Viper unit is essentially a universal install item with relays built-in, it will require hardwiring into your vehicle. We do a courtesy review of all security and remote start related orders here at Crutchfield to make sure you have everything you need if you are tackling the job yourself!

Q
Does this kit work with a Subaru Baja 2006 with Manual transmission?
luis  Mar 23, 2023
1 answer
A
This could be used for keyless entry with the 2006 Subaru Baja. The transmission would not matter as this is not a remote start system. It simply uses the same remote as other systems from Viper that do perform remote start functionality.

Q
Will the Viper 412V Keyless entry system work with a manual 2013 Ford Fiesta S?
sam  Feb 27, 2023
1 answer
A
Yes. As long as your vehicle already has power door locks, the 412V can be used to lock/unlock the doors. Keep in mind that this system is NOT a remote starter. It simply uses the same remotes as other systems from Viper that do offer remote start.

Will this work on a 2010 f150?
wayne  Nov 16, 2022
1 answer
A
Yes. This will work as a keyless entry solution to lock/unlock doors for a 2010 F-150. The vehicle must already have power door locks. If power door locks are not present, actuators must be installed to use with this system.

Does this model support older diesels with a glow plug light integration?

Greetings JT321, and thank you for your question. We do have a specialized group that works with keyless entry, remote start, and alarms. You can can call 800-324-9695 and ask to speak to a specialist. Honestly I don't think it matters if the vehicle is gas, diesel, or EV, this is only a keyless entry system.

Q
would this work on a 96 Honda Accord LX ? I don't have the original key or original radio for the car. My car has never had a security system or keyless entry
shawn  Oct 12, 2022
1 answer
A
This would be compatible with your Accord. Keep in mind that this system will only offer keyless entry functionality to lock/unlock the doors. The doors must already have motorized locks. If door lock motors are not present, we can recommend actuators to install in the doors. Feel free to chat or call at 1-800-324-9695 for help from our advisors.

Q
With this fit a 2019 Honda Civic sedan si?
johnathan  Jul 15, 2022
1 answer
A
This Viper 412V Keyless entry system is essentially a universal unit, Johnathan. We don't qualify these units in our Vehicle Guide online as they can technically be hardwired to almost any vehicle, and do require extensive splicing to install. We do recommend installation by a qualified pro. We have a specialist group of heavy hitters that go over all of our keyless entry and remote start builds, so if you call us at 1-800-324-9695 we can set you up with a callback to see if this would work! These Wizards don't man the regular phone lines, but they can take a look at your Civic Si's wiring and see if this would be an option for you. Give us a shout Johnathan!

Q
Why does my alarm continue to go off without reason?
jose  Mar 03, 2022
1 answer
A
Must have been wired up wrong, only time any sort of alarm goes off with this system is when I hit the panic button and then it's just my horn with lights. My truck does not have a normal alarm for like anti theft or anything tho so possibly something went wrong when wiring the panic mode aspect of this system allowing the alarms contacts to remain close. Does it stop when you lock/unlock rig or is it randomly turning on or is it constantly on?

A
If you have power door lock you should be able to tie it in. Just make note that this is only for a remote door lock and not a security system. If you do not have power door locks Crutchfield has a universal power door lock kit you can install that I used in my car and it wasn't to hard to install.

Will it work with my 2017 Corolla SE which doesn't have power lock feature? Thanks.

A
You would have to add power locks to your vehicle. You should 100% give an advisor a call to go over the necessary gear to accomplish what you are wanting, as remote start, keyless entry, and security systems are some of the most complex car items we carry! https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
I have a 1970 that has power locks, but obviously not keyless entry. I'm looking to install a viper alarm also. Do I need this also or will the alarm provide keyless entry?

A
It depends on the specific alarm model and if it provides keyless entry (most do). You may also need to add some door lock relays (again; depending on the model) For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx
