Features
Overview: The Directed 556UXL immobilizer interface lets you install a remote start module (sold separately) in vehicles equipped with an RF (Radio Frequency) based immobilizer system. This type of system uses a small chip embedded in the ignition key (transponder) to transmit a very low-power RF signal. This signal is picked up through an antenna that's looped or coiled around the ignition switch which is then sent to the immobilizer's transceiver. This allows the immobilizer to enable the ignition switch and fuel system. If an attempt is made to start the vehicle and the transceiver has not received the correct code, the ignition and fuel system are disabled. The 556UXL will bypass the immobilizer system only while the remote start is in use, maintaining the factory system's integrity when not being used.
Note: One of the vehicle's coded keys or key FOB must be permanently installed inside the 556UXL for operation.
Compatibility: 556UXL can be used with most RF based vehicle immobilizer systems, and any Remote Start system that can provide a Status/GWR negative (-) ground output while the remote start is active. Check here to see if your vehicle is compatible.
Connection Type: The Directed 556UXL can be configured for either a Standard Immobilizer or for an Alternate Immobilizer system.
- Standard Immobilizer Interface: This method is used for most
current vehicles and requires the included Transponder Loop Harness to be
installed around the vehicle ignition switch housing.
- Note: The Transponder Loop must be placed in front of the factory receiver ring and not on top of or behind it.
- Alternate Immobilizer Interface (Option 1 & 2): This rare
connection method is used with immobilizer systems that have a 2-wire
factory antenna harness. For this type of installation, the included
Transponder Loop harness gets cut off, with the bare-ended wires connecting
directly to the factory antenna's 2 wires. Option 1 and Option 2 use
the same basic wiring with only a variation in the 556UXL's
Black/Red wire connection.
Notes:
- Alternate Immobilizer Option 1 cannot be used with European vehicles.
- Alternate Immobilizer Option 2 can be used with European vehicles.

If you have to use this type of bypass, the UXL is the only way to go with today's larger, bulkier keyfobs. Installed one in a B6 Audi and it did the job of holding the key and circling the transponder at the ignition perfectly. :)
