Zero volume control; zilch, nada, nothing. The "volume" knob adjusts connected device BLUTOOTH VOLUME. Most phones have something like 10-20 volume steps which is not enough and that by being unable to directly limit the amplifier volume, there is no safeguard that prevents a moron friend or child from maxing their device volume and blowing everyone's hearing. I would have given this 5 stars if not for the terrible terrible choices made that resulted in the "volume" knob as is being sold. I genuinely think that JVCKenwood is fraudulently advertising features for the unit and that the irregular change in volume that occurs when transitioning from mid to higher levels is inexcusable from a company that has been putting out quality audio equipment for something like 45 years. I could go on for quite a while about the deficits of the product as I "upgraded" from a kenwood exelon head unit that is top tier for features and implementation. I cannot think of a single feature of my exelon unit that isn't exquisitely implemented. I cannot discuss the M5024BT without first highlighting the glaringly poor implementation of volume control that sours the product overall. All that said, I am strongly considering keeping the unit installed as is allows me to do what no other product on market does, completely delete everything from the DIM slots in my car. The sound quality is great. I have no complaints about the output volume.
Pros: Flexible configuration, compact size, minimalist controls, sufficient power to overcome wind noise well beyond the legal speed limit
Cons: ZERO DIRECT VOLUME CONTROL, massive irregular jump in output volume around 55%
