First Sonos Experience - Seamless!
DAK from Seattle, WA on 6/11/2025
Purchased the Era 100 after considering numerous wireless speaker recommendations and reviews, to replace an Onkyo receiver and a pair of twenty year old Bose 201-Vs. Primary use is streaming a few local radio stations and Spotify, and setup was easy to configure. Have found that controlling Spotify between desktop app, mobile app and Sonos app itself has been seamless. Using free version of TuneIn for radio, which has also been a snap. Importantly, sound quality is excellent! Very happy with my purchase!

Having problems with Sonos and Apple?
JCM from Philadelphia, PA on 6/11/2025
I've been having issues with my Sonos system and Apple for a LOOOONNNNNGGG time, but this thing solved it. I have to admit my early speakers were Ikea Symfonisks, but they were still plug directly into my router. Despite having Sonos gear directly attached to the router, I was still having problems getting my Apple music to play, but having this with AirPlay connectivity really did the trick. I'll say better than my two roams have as well. This was easy to set up right out of the box and I can now enjoy ALL MY music.
Pros: Easy to install, sounds great, small
Cons: None

Excellent Sound, Seamless Experience - Sonos 100 + Crutchfield = A Win
Nicholas from Woodacre, CA on 6/8/2025
The Sonos 100 delivers outstanding sound quality for its size. The clarity, depth, and balance are impressive-vocals are crisp, bass is punchy but not overwhelming, and the mids are rich. Whether I'm streaming music, listening to podcasts the Era 100 performs beautifully. Setup was fast and easy with the Sonos app, and the added Bluetooth and line-in options give it great versatility.

Great product, great sales support
Bruce S from Forest Hills, NY on 5/27/2025
The sound from this speaker is great. I put it in my bedroom. I have very very expensive B&W speakers and Mcintosh amp and pre-amp in my living room and it's hard for me to tell the difference in the quality of sound. Maybe I am delusional!!! I initially wanted to avoid connecting this wirelessly and Lee in sales was a great help because he said it was easy to make a wireless connection using Spotify from a phone or computer. He was right. The reason I bought this from Crutchfield is simple. You have great customer support and a great return policy and the prices are competitive. I didn't need tech support for this product because it was easy to set up the speaker on my own but if I needed you folks, it was a comfort to know I had your support. To me, that is worth a lot of money. A real lot.
Pros: Great sound Easy to set up. Great support system at Crutchfield if you need it. Competitive price.

Sound and "line in" great; won't do stereo with a Sonos One.
David from Brooklyn, NY on 4/23/2025
It sounds great. I think the Era 100 does not look as nice as the older Sonos One - but that might just be personal preference. The Era 100 is taller. I assume they upgraded the speaker components some and needed the extra height and the change in shape to do that. I was a little disappointed to find out it will not pair as a stereo pair with the Sonos One I had. (I had realized the sound might not be perfect given somewhat differing speakers, but I was willing to accept that. But, the app states that it will not set up a stereo-pairing of dissimilar speakers. So, if I want stereo, it looks like I'll have to get a second Era 100 and put the Sonos One in a different room....) The use of the Era 100 as a "line in" way to connect a CD player to any Sonos speaker, however, DOES work. That is a great economical way to be able to add non-streaming content.

These have a rich and robust sound. Vocal clarity is excellent, tone density good. Two make for a nice stereo pair. Even a single unit projects well outdoors - I have one on my expansive roof terrace and it fills the air with music. Great value, especially when on sale.
Pros: They rock
Cons: ERA 300 is noticeably more transparent ( but maybe not as much fun ). Also double the price...

Sonos Era 100
Guest from Palm Desert, CA on 3/7/2025
These have lost connection to my WiFi mesh twice since installation two months ago. No other connection problems with any other WiFi speakers, cameras, iPads, etc. Sonos 100's disconnect requires reset of modem, router and speakers. Same thing happens to my Sonos Sub which disconnects almost monthly. Strangely enough, so far my ARC Sonos speaker seems stable with WiFi, but it has an unpleasant habit of coming on by itself at 2 or 3 in the morning. Such a shame as these are pretty nice sounding speakers. Have had many neophytes tell me Sonos are quirky speakers. I'm not going to buy anything Sonos makes until fixes are in place.

Whole Home Tunes
Stephen from Coppell, TX on 12/20/2024
Added two Era 100s to my back porch seating area. they hooked up immediately to my app and even offered to set up in stereo automatically. They sound fantastic - I could not be happier. My whole house system is now complete: from the Sonos control app I can control music selection and volume levels throughout the house. 4 Sonos ports (as component input to older legacy stereos in primary bdrm/bath, workout room, outdoor grill area and main 5.1 system); Sonos Ones in kitchen(2); 2 Era 100s on porch; Single Sonos Ones in 2 other overlap areas and one rover - usually in garage. ...with Tidal high fidelity source the tunes are flowing and sound really, really good. Thanks to Crutchfield for being my "go to" source of equipment and information for over 30 years - we are rockin in Dallas.
Pros: Great full spectrum high fidelity sound, customer service helpful when needed
Cons: ? Could be less expensive ?

The Curthfield service has been very good, especially the two-day shipping to California. As for Sonos, powerful sound despite its size, happy with my purchase. If I had to find a downside, it would be the connection with my TV, but I'm not sure if the TV is the problem.

Easy Setup - Excellent Audio
Chris from Manassas Park, VA on 12/18/2024
Quick and easy setup in the Sonos app, which works well these days for those wondering or seeing older reviews reporting issues with it. Had both of them powered up, recognized in the app, firmware updated, two new zones added and playing music in about 10 minutes. Easy to select/deselect one, multiple or all zones in the app to adjust your listening locations on the fly. Sound quality is what you'd expect from Sonos which is top-notch. On paper they are an upgrade over the One SL model and in-use that appears to be true. Great range and surprising how much bass they produce.

I had already owned a Sonos Era 100 speaker. I added this speaker to make a stereo pair. I have found the sound produced by these speakers to be very good and the set-up of the speaker easy, especially as it was my second experience with setting up a Sonos 100. I use these speakers typically with Apple Airplay 2 and my various Apple products, and they work without problems in that regard. I am very satisfied with this speaker.
Pros: Good sound, easy setup, easy connection to Apple products with Apple AirPlay 2.

Sonos is still my go to whole home music solution
Cary from New Jersey on 9/7/2024
I have been a Sonos user since 2015 and absolutely love it. My home has 5 different zones and I just added the 6th in my office with a pair of the Era 100's. I was shocked to read about the issues with the app but for whatever reason I hadn't had any issues until about 3 weeks ago. Since then it seems to have improved enough where there are a few hiccups, the most annoying is that when you open the app, it takes about 30 seconds for it to recognize your system. Once in the app everything works fairly well. I installed the Era 100's last night and it only took about 5 minutes and worked flawlessly. Only issue was the new speaker tuning. I may have done something wrong so I proceeded to just tune the bass and treble myself and the sound was excellent, considering the size and price of these speakers. I understand Sonos is fixing the bugs on a continuous basis and It looks like they're almost there. I still recommend Sonos as a fabulous whole home sound solution.
Pros: Great sound, good value, easy to install, simple to use
Cons: Some relatively minor flaws in the app but perfection is close at hand

Good Speaker, Lousy App
Kevin from INMAN, SC on 8/17/2024
This is a good quality speaker. I'm listening to it now from the other room and it fills the house with deep bass and clear midrange. My problem is with the Sonos app. It took several hours to get it working on initial setup because it WILL NOT WORK until it installs the latest updates and the app would not download and install the updates. The problem was not with my internet. I tried using the app on two Android phones and finally got it working with my iPad. After successfully connecting I saw this message from Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos. "We know that too many of you have experienced significant problems with our new app which rolled out on May 7, and I want to begin by personally apologizing for disappointing you. There isn't an employee at Sonos who isn't pained by having let you down, and I assure you that fixing the app for all of our customers and partners has been and continues to be our number one priority." It goes on from there. This message was dated 7/25/24. Today is 8/17 and the app is still very balky. It often says my speaker isn't recognized even though it is working with voice commands. I'm tired of rebooting my router to get it back. As a former software developer I know a thing or two about testing your software before deployment. I hope that Sonos will indeed "fix it" soon. In the meantime, that is my only complaint. But it's a big one.
Pros: Good Speaker
Cons: Bad App

Exceeded expectations!
Josh from PEORIA, AZ on 1/16/2024
It has been over a decade since I've had a full surround sound system. I have a reference 2-channel system (McIntosh components and KLH model 5 speakers) that has always made me happy enough for video. I purchased a Sonos Arc a year ago with the larger sub and I was very impressed with the way the Arc threw sounds around my spacious living room. The room is far from ideal, and the speaker placement is terribly high, along with the TV, but you learn to deal with what you have. When the Era100's went on sale for a bundle, I decided to try them out as surrounds. Since the Arc was mounted so high, I have not been able to fully hear the Atmos effects but when I plugged in the Era100's as surrounds, I immediately heard a spaciousness from behind my couch that I did not expect. They remind me of a good di-pole surround and effects like rain and wind seem to envelop the entire back side of the room. I love that! When the soundtrack asks for specific pinpoint effects like a gun shot or a door slamming behind you, it is very clear and accurate as well. Finally watching live sports is really fun with the college football band playing right behind you but the sound of the game coming from the Arc and not bleeding into the surrounds. Music sounds good so far. I have not listened to any spatial audio or Atmos tracks but for now, the clarity is fun and dynamic range seems great for the size of the speaker. Highly recccoment.
Pros: Fantastic surround effects Good dynamic range Excellent fit and finish

Good sound quality overall with expected limitstions due to size
Scott from Mammoth Lakes, CA on 1/7/2024
Bought this speaker for my small apartment to replace a Sony SRS-X55 that I'd been using for several years. Midrange clarity, detail, and separation is noticeably better. Overall quite satisfied with the sound quality, especially the mid range as you'd expect from a speaker this size. Low end is pretty impressive for a speaker this size. Struggles a little with rapid fire low end (thrash metal, etc). You'll need a more substantial setup for that. Part of my goals with this one was good sound quality at low to moderate volumes and not annoying my neighbors with excessive penetrating bass, so this fits the bill pretty well. Will need 2 for any significant stereo separation. Sound (especially bass) varies at different locations around the living area, so I'm still fiddling with the placement and the room tuning feature. Overall quite satisfied with the upgrade from my old speaker (which performed surprisingly well to begin with!).
Pros: Great midrange and vocal clarity, separation, and detail. Overall great sound quality for the size.
Cons: Limitations with heavy rapid fire low end. Will need 2 for any significant stereo separation.

Old guy buys a smart speaker
Stephen from Western New Jersey on 1/4/2024
Here's why I chose the Sonos Era 100 as my first smart speaker (at age 71): 1 It's gotten universally glowing professional reviews. GTS. 2 It looks great in any space or decor. I have it in a bookcase but you could put it literally anywhere and it would work. 3 Sonos is an independent company, not a mega-data monster like Amazon, Apple or Google. Voice commands do not get uploaded or recorded. If I need some information I've got a dozen other tools to get it. So just music, please; thank you. 4 Sonos's app, web site and YouTube channel look and work the way they should: friendly, informative, easy to navigate. That sounds like a no brainer but we've all experienced the opposite way too many times. 5 Expensive? Maybe a little. But if it lasts 5 years (and you resist subscribing to "premium" services) that's one dollar per week for the music and sound you want. You can afford that.
Pros:
Cons: Annoying loud "canned" responses to your voice commands that appears to have no fix at the current time. Minor annoyance. Deduct 0.25 star.

Matt from New York on 12/8/2023
I never got this speaker working. I have $1000's invested in my Sonos system. Sonos has decided to make the current models incompatible with the previous models. What does this mean? Unless I trash my perfectly good and working speakers, unless I decide to toss my $1000 speaker system and upgrade to Sonos's all new speakers. I will never be able to add a new speaker. What about adding an older model speaker? Sonos now forces upgrading the app before adding ANY speaker (even older models) and the new app is incompatible with the older speaker. So, I'll never be able to add an old speaker or new speaker (to my current system). This is not a policy dictated by technical limitations. It would be beyond simple to have both generations working side by side. Warning to customers: beware that any time Sonos wants to pump up there sales they can (and historically have) brick any current (and perfectly working) model, in hopes that customers to purchase all new speakers.

The first of many!
Jennifer from Evanston, IL on 12/8/2023
I bought this Sonos Era 100 to replace an old portable Bluetooth speaker that was no longer keeping a charge. The sounds quality is similar if not better to what I had before, I love the compact design and sleek look. I plan to get a full system through my home and link the speakers together for full sound immersion. I'm by no means a sound expert, but the quality is clear and it was easy to set-up so I'm happy!

Great sound quallity, Wifi needs work
Michael from Scottsdale, AZ on 12/5/2023
Sound fidelity of unit is great but establishing and maintaining a wifi connection is not great. Unit will drop the connection when connected via the Sonos app on my Windows machine. Era 100 does not always appear on my tuneblade app (installed on my PC) - not sure if this is a tuneblade or Era issue. Initially, could not connect to my Wifi network until I removed the Wifi extender from my network. NONE of my other wifi devices have an issue with this repeater (new Macard extender). If you don't care about using the Wifi connection, then I would rate the unit as a 5.
Pros: Very impressed with sound quality
Cons: Establishing and maintaining a wifi connection is not easy or reliable. Sonos charges a lot for the USB to phone jack adapter.

Amazing sound from a small speaker.
William from Kissimmee, FL on 12/3/2023
I decided to purchase this speaker after hearing similar Sonos speakers being used in stores that were playing music. They produced great sound for such small speakers. The Era 100 did not disappoint. It produces amazing sound from such a small speaker. I am also impressed with the Sonos network on how the speakers integrate together. I liked the sound so much that I am considering going with the Sonos Arc and two of the Era 100's as my primary home theater. I'm very impressed so far.
Pros: Sound quality. Ease of setup. Adaptability.
Cons: None so far.

Fantastic Alexa Speaker
John from San Diego, CA on 12/2/2023
So far, I like this speaker a lot. I am using it as an Alexa smart speaker. Microphones pickup my voice well and the speaker sound quality is excellent.
Pros: Alexa integration works well for the most part.
Cons: Some Alexa skills aren't working, especially NPR.

Sonos Era 100
Jim from Little Rock, AR on 12/1/2023
Just my third day with it. Enjoying it thoroughly. Suggest your literature distinguish which Sonos app to download before beginning to set up the speaker. I spent $24.99 before calling your set up people. They led me to the correct app. But, my $24.99 was gone.

Do not recommend
Fred from SAINT LOUIS, MO on 11/29/2023
So disappointing. Purchased this speaker to replace my Sonos 1 which bricked during an update. Unfortunately, the Era 100 is not compatible with the rest of my system. I now have two separate systems having to run two separate apps. I've made a significant investment in Sonos with five Sonos 5's, and this will be the very last Sonos that I purchase. I do NOT recommend.
Pros: Easy setup and intuitive app. Support for most streaming services.
Cons: The company does not stand behind their products and you will end up with a mountain of e-waste in just a few years. If you don't mind filling the landfill with your old speakers, this system is for you.

Great sound and Applesque in the eas of set up. Have built out my Sonos system after hearing my son's Play 5. Great value for the price and the sound is excellent. Highly recommend and enjoy!
Pros: Excellent sound and super easy set up. Great complement to my Sonos Arc (swapping out the Play 1's for the Era 100's). Oh, and the Sub Mini puts this all on a higher level.

Wowza
David from Portland, OR on 8/29/2023
I spoke with two different advisors at Crutchfield asking for help in choosing between the less expensive Sonos Roam and the slightly more expensive Sonos Era 100. As this was only going to be used in the garage when using the elliptical, I didn't see much need in spending the extra amount for the Era. So I bought the Roam. Silly me. I awoke the next day, "What was I thinking?!?!" I need that extra bass to get motivated to exercise! So I quickly contacted my trusted advisors and canceled the Roam and ordered the Era 100. Super glad I did!! Man, this thing rocks!! I'll be elliptical-ing faster and happier than ever now.

I currently have 4 other Sonos One speakers and wanted to try the upgraded 100 and it does not disappoint. Like all other Sonos products, the setup is a breeze. The sound is much improved from the One. Better clarity all around from highs down to lows.

Purchased Sonos ERA 100. Arrived when expected. Easy to set up. Sound is excellent for a singular, small speaker. Fills up a big room (20' x 35') with cathedral ceilings quite well.
Pros: Good sound Works with Alexa and many other streaming accounts (Spotify, Sirius, etc)
Cons: Cannot stream music stored on my other devices

The New Standard From Sonos
Mike from TARPON SPRINGS, FL on 4/10/2023
Have a Sonos One and a Sonos Move. I didn't think they could top the sound and quality of the Move or the One. I was wrong. The new Sonos ERA 100 checks all boxes and then some. The sound is remarkable for a speaker of this size. The highs are there, the mid range is there and the low end is fantastic especially at lower volumes. This thing pretty much smokes any other speaker in this size range. Sorry Apple. I tried the new Homepod. Not even close. The Sonos app is good once you figure it out and the Bluetooth feature is a welcome bonus. You will not be disappointed with this speaker.
Pros: Sound Quality / Build Quality
