Intelligent control

When you add a sensor, it shows up in the multi-room display on the T9 thermostat's touchscreen — or in the free Resideo mobile app. Place a sensor in your office, or baby's bedroom, and prioritize settings in one or more of these rooms at a time based on a schedule you set.

Or base settings on whether or not someone is actually in a room. Smart room sensors can tell if someone is just passing through, or actually hanging out in a room. Your ideal temperature can literally follow you and your family around the house.

More details on the Honeywell Smart Room Sensor

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Smart Room Sensor works with Honeywell Home T9 and T10 Pro Smart Thermostats. The sensor sends temperature, humidity, and motion data wirelessly to the host thermostat. It must be added (programmed) using the thermostat's setup menu, and identified by the room where it has been installed. The Smart Room Sensor operates on 2 "AAA" alkaline batteries (included), and comes with an adhesive wall-mount. The sensor is 2-5/8" square and 3/4" deep, and weighs 2.1 ounces with batteries.

Sensor Operation: Up to 20 Smart Room Sensors can be wirelessly connected to the host thermostat within a range of 200 feet using Honeywell Home's RedLINK technology. Each Smart Room Sensor monitors the temperature and humidity in the room and sends it to the thermostat. When that room is "prioritized" (at the thermostat or on the Resideo-Smart Home app), the temperature data is averaged with the temperature of other prioritized rooms and at the thermostat to determine whether the HVAC system increases the overall heating or cooling of the home.

Motion Sensing: The Smart Room Sensor uses a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor to detect motion in the room up to about 20 feet away. The sensor's occupancy algorithm is based on how many motion events it sees within a certain timeframe. If a person walks through a room, the sensor tells the thermostat that the room is occupied for ten minutes. If no more motion is detected, the Smart Room Sensor determines the room is no longer "Active." If the user has chosen to use "selected sensors" instead of "active sensors" in programming the thermostat, the motion detection element no longer comes into play for that room and sensor.

Installation: The Honeywell Home Smart Room Sensor requires no wiring or hardware to install. It can be mounted on a wall or placed on a tabletop. If wall-mounting, the sensor should be placed about 5 feet above the floor on an inside wall and away from air vents and direct sunlight. The included wall-mounting bracket has a 3M Command™ adhesive strip for easy application and removal. Once installed, the Room Sensor must be paired, added, and identified by the thermostat. The thermostat's touchscreen can display the room's temperature and humidity readings, as well as the sensor's battery level and signal strength.

Battery Life: The Smart Room Sensor is powered by two "AAA" alkaline batteries (included). The estimated battery life is approximately 1 year.
