Easy to set up and use
Ken from Lenexa, KS on 1/27/2025
I have owned three prior Marantz pre/pro's. Just like the others, the AV10 was very easy to set up and so far no bugs of any kind. It does seem to have a somewhat limited output on XLR. Using the same amps, I had to turn this unit up to around 75% to reach appropriate volume for movies. The previous AV 7706 ran at about 45%. This is odd since the professional reviews note very good voltage output on XLR. I have compensated by adding 12db to digital inputs. Only complaint is that at $7000, Dirac Live and a good calibration micophone should be included, not extra cost.
Pros: Easy setup, no bugs, great sound
Cons: Dirac Live and a good calibration microphone should be included at this price point.

They call it 10 for a reason
Rex from Makaha HI on 1/23/2025
I decided to invest in the top-of-the-line Marantz AV10, and I was genuinely blown away by the sound quality. It was so impressive that I even upgraded my speakers to fully immerse myself in that rich sound and I made good use of the four independent subwoofer outputs along with the Dirac room correction program. Had it ended there, I would have easily rated it 6 out of 5 stars. However, just 15 months after purchase, my AV10 wouldn't fully power on. When I reached out to Marantz customer service, I felt reassured by their quick response and troubleshooting steps. After exhausting all their suggestions without any success, a technician informed me that I need to send it to an authorized service center. Unfortunately, there is only one service center in the State of Hawaii, and lucky for me it's located on Oahu because that's where I live-I called them as instructed but never received a response. A trip over there revealed that the service center no longer exists! When I informed Marantz about this shocking news, they were just as stunned as I was. After several back-and-forth calls and waiting days for updates on where to send my unit, they finally provided me with a return shipping label for FedEx ground-destination East Coast. Shipping from Hawaii takes about nine days! When I asked if I could purchase a replacement while waiting for them to receive my defective unit, they said no but assured me in writing that a replacement would be sent.
Pros:
Cons: they said no but assured me in writing that a replacement would be sent once they received mine. Now it's nearly two months since this saga began, and I'm still without a replacement AV10. I have been straight up lied to and largely ignored throughout this process. There seems to be little or no concern from Marantz regarding my newly built home theater being non-functional without the AV10 despite my persistent emails every couple of days. If it were possible, I would give Marantz 0 out o

so far, so flagship good
Curt from Orange County, CA on 11/20/2024
Our 2020 AV7705 was out of warranty and diagnosed as a faulty HDMI board. Sadly, spent some money on a repair that didn't work (at a local authorized service center), and hesitantly chose the AV10 as a replacement, 5 year warranty would have come in handy for the previous pre. With regards to sound quality, the AV10 is the big leagues and our AV7705 was triple A ball, which really surprised me. Details in movies with Atmos soundtracks are extremely crisp, whether it's leaves falling or bullets whizzing or car chase zooms, the sound-field and depth is pretty incredible (7.1.2 in-wall KEFs, XLR connected to some MM7055s). Even things I've heard 10 million times are more alive, horns and especially the tuba in The Simpsons opening theme makes me double take each time I hear it, where was that over the decades? And that's "old" source material too. ;) Video (BD, streaming) is fine, but it's connected to a currently uncalibrated LG C9 so I can't report much until the pixel peeps. Zone 2 HDMI out works great with an HDR 4K LED TV (Furrion) and Dolby Vision enabled in the Main Zone at the same time, a scenario that presented trouble for the AV7705 at the end of days. For those who have scoured the Internet doing their pre-sales diligence and want to know about current manufacture dates, mine was August 2024, ordered in November. So far no regrets with this purchase and the warranty keeps me sleeping at night, eagerly waiting for the next movie we're watching.
Pros: it good! sounds are crisp and detailed, noticeable upgrade from AV7705 new shiny video abbr. but mostly VRR for the games (eARC works but our AV is a hub for all for a reason) 5 year warranty is stellar, have had good service from Marantz et all over the years, close to a service center
Cons: only time will tell if our hesitation was warranted regarding the previous experience with a short-lived predecessor, but that 5 year warranty is a soft comfy blanket i can't imagine using the rackmount ears (sold separately), it really should require a 4-post. Use a shelf IMO, 2- or 4-post. Also it long.

A Terrific Processor
John from Camarillo, CA on 11/10/2024
The Marantz AV 10 is a terrific processor. I paid for a Dirac Live license and am very impressed with the sound quality. (I have not used Audyssey yet.) The sound stage seems a bit more cohesive than what I heard with the NAD MV17 V2 running Dirac Live. Dialog is clearer as well, though the NAD is a high performing unit. The Setup Assistant makes the Marantz extremely easy to configure. And the Marantz manual, unlike the NAD manual, is comprehensive and easy to follow. I haven't tried the HEOS app with the Marantz. Be careful if you plan to put the AV 10 in a cabinet. This unit is big. It's nearly 50 percent greater in volume than the NAD MV17 V2.
Pros: Excellent sound quality and easy to configure.
Cons: Very big.

I like it!
James from MANSFIELD, OH on 3/13/2024
I got it from Crutchfield a week or so ago. Five stars so far. I upgraded from a Denon 7200WA to the AV10 and AMP10 with XLR connections. I have Polk LSIM speakers that were kind of meh. I am finally happy with my sound system. I ran the Audyssey setup and it a more than acceptable job with the calibration. I enjoy watching movies at home so much more!
Pros: Excellent sound quality and sound field.
Cons: Cost, if I can complain about anything.

Marantz AV 10
Scott from Concord, CA on 1/9/2024
Super easy setup but I was upgrading from an AV7005 separate so that made the hook up easy. The on screen set up wizard was super easy and I was up and running within 1/2 hour. Just follow the prompts. After using it for a week there has been zero issues and the sound quality is excellent! I've yet to tried Dirac because I've blown my wad on the AV10, and a Rack mount, but that is surly on my list. Expensive but with it, IMO!

No onscree display of volume setting... for some at least.
Monte from Austin, TX on 10/11/2023
Unfortunately I cannot give them more than one star on the AV10 but fortunately, the problem will not affect most users. The problem is the onscreen volume setting display. You have two options, the top and the bottom of the screen. For most users this is not a problem but if you are using an anamorphic lens, it is a problem. You will not have onscreen display for volume because it will be off the imaging device. Even though this should be an easy firmware fix, they do not promise it will ever be fixed. This is the response from Marantz... "We understand your points when you use the an anamorphic lens with volume bar. The volume bar is cut when vertical stretch of video signal at the projector. Our CS team feedback your idea, however it is out of specification for AV10 at this moment. We cannot promise it will be update. Please understand." Well, no I don't understand and that's the reason for the one star review. This would be a simple fix and with a processor of this level, a fair number of users will have the anamorphic lens. They really need to reconsider. I didn't buy mine through Crutchfield, I got it from a local store in Austin TX but people considering the AV10 need to be aware of this issue.
Pros: Great sound, nice user interface, well built.
Cons: No on screen display of volume level when using an anamorphic lens.

The Awesome AV 10
JOHN from MINNETONKA, MN on 7/4/2023
I wasn't sure how noticeable of an upgrade this would be over the Denon 3700H AVR, which I was using as a pre-pro. I spent several months comparing specs and reviews between the Marantz and others (including the beastly Denon AVR-AH1, which I would use as a pre-pro). Finally, the independent bench test results of the AV 10 won me over. And boy, am I happy with the AV 10! To be fair, there isn't a huge difference with some of my content. But with my SACD's, the soundstage now has much more presence and realism; and my SVS PC-12 Plus subwoofers are somehow more "musical", if that makes sense. And recently released 4K movies look sharper, with richer colors, on my Samsung QN65Q90T. I spent 3 long days with setups and repeated runs of Audyssey (not because it should take anywhere near that long, but because I'm an idiot). Finally, nirvana! It is a significant investment, but now I can see and hear that it was well worth it. The AV 10 presents itself as a top of the line unit, and in terms of build quality, wide range of options, and most importantly performance, it does not disappoint. I am running a 7.2.4 set up, with Emotiva amps and SVS and Def Tech speakers, using fairly decent Audioquest for cables. If you're running a medium to higher-end system, I highly recommend using the AV 10 as the "brain". Thank you for this product, Marantz, and for the always excellent service, Crutchfield.
Pros: Top notch build quality; impressive range of options; amazing performance
Cons: Cost is daunting, so make sure you do your research

Marantz AV10 Game Changer
Todd from Severna Park, MD on 3/29/2023
I've always had AVRs throughout the years but decided to change up and go with separates. Coming from a Yamaha RX-A3080 with external amps I decided to give the AV10, although its pricey, a shot. Well first impression: Outstanding in everyway. A huge difference in overall fullness and sound quality. Don't get me wrong the RX-A3080 is a great AVR but I could never get the subs and mains dialed in together using YPAO and REW. The AV10 with Audyssey MultEQ-32 and or MultEQ-X completely integrated the subs and mains. The sound is now much more full and rich. Dirac is also available with the new firmware update but does not provide the bass module, expected in 2024. I tested 2 channel stereo with Flac hires music via built-in HEOS and the HEOS app, Pink Floyd's Pulse DVD on multi-channel, John Wick 3 for Dolby Atmos. All performed extremely well. I also tested Roon and that works fine although it only streams using Airplay to the AV10 which is only CD quality. My system is a 7.2.4 with some room treatments and now I can finally say I have a complete immersive home theater. Only negative for me is I use Qobuz and currently this is not supported on the AV10. Hopefully that can change with a future firmware update. I would highly recommend this new AVP. What do you have to lose? 60-day return policy.
