Features

Model 30 Integrated Amplifier: Featuring a fully discrete, two stage design for minimal interference, and unique Marantz HDAM technology for signal purity, The Marantz Model 30 integrated amplifier offers exceptional sound quality. Its been designed to replicate the sensitivity and feel of a vintage analog amplifier even when simply adjusting the volume. The Model 30 can handle 8 and 4 ohm speaker impedances.

  • 8-Ohm Power Rating: 100 watts x 2 channels (@ 1 kHz with 0.05% THD)
  • 4-Ohm Power Rating: 200 watts x 2 channels (@ 1 kHz with 0.1% THD)

HDAM Technology: The Model 30 is built on its own discrete circuit board, the Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Module, or HDAM. Marantz HDAM-SA3 technology is comprised of dozens of independent parts, each hand-selected for pure, detailed Marantz sound. By custom-curating hundreds of individual parts, rather than adoption an off-the-shelf solution, the Model 30 HDAM significantly outperforms standard integrated circuits to create the unique musicality you always expect from Marantz.

Two Independent Power Supplies: The Model 30 boasts two independent power supplies for the best separation between the preamplifier stages and power amplifier stage, where signal levels are still low and the audio signal is sensitive to any distortion; and the power amplifier stage, which drives the speakers with high signal levels and current.

  • Toroidal Transformer: The Model 30 power supply circuit, designed exclusively for the preamplifier enables a stable power supply that is not affected by fluctuations from power demanded by the power amplifier stage. An oversized toroidal transformer, known for it clean supply, is dedicated exclusively for the preamp to ensure high purity. A double-shielded steel case is mounted around the transformer to suppress the leakage of flux that could affect peripheral circuits.
  • Instantaneous High-Current Power Supply: The power supply for the power amp stage is designed to deliver high current instantaneously to the switching mode amplifier. This ensures full control over connected speakers to follow even the hardest bass attacks and provides clean power for the reproduction of the finest details.

Robust Construction: The solid chassis is constructed from thick, heavy, non-magnetic aluminum panels and a rigid steel top cover to eliminate added interference. Sturdy, brass machined independent input terminals for CD and Phono, plus Marantz original high-quality, high-purity nickel-plated speaker terminals ensure the best signal possible.

Exquisite Sound Tuning: The Model 30 continues the renowned heritage of exquisite Marantz amplifiers. Tuned by the Marantz Sound Master who channeled his passion, experience, and extraordinary ear into the amplifier design. Hundreds of hours of thoughtful Sound Master tuning ensure the exquisite detail and musicality Marantz always delivers. Marantz engineers select and optimize each component through careful listening in dedicated Marantz facility in Europe and Japan. During development stage, every part is carefully selected, tested, and validated by the Marantz Sound Master to ensure you get that perfect Marantz sound every time you listen.

Phono EQ Stage with Input Impedance Selector (MC/MM): The Phono EQ stage in the Model 30 can be used with both moving magnet and low-output moving coil cartridges, thanks to a built-in MC head amplifier. The phono stage uses two-stage amplification that combines Marantz HDAMs with JFETs in the input stage for lower distortion and high input impedance. This configuration allows the non-negative-feedback design to be further simplified by the deletion of coupling capacitors which further reduces distortion and enhances signal purity even more. In order to optimize sound performance when using a moving coil (MC) or magnetic moving (MM) cartridge, and to accommodate all configurations as much as possible, the Model 30 is equipped with an input impedance selector.

  • MM: Use this setting for all MM type cartridges
  • MC Low: Use this setting for an MC cartridge of less than 50 ohms.
  • MC Mid: Use this setting for an MC cartridge of 51 to 99 ohms.
  • MC High: Use this setting for an MC cartridge of 100 ohms or higher.

Line-Level Inputs & Recorder Output: The Marantz Model 30 is equipped with five line-level analog audio RCA stereo inputs (labeled "CD", "Tuner", "Line-1", "Line-2", and "Recorder". In addition to the five line-level audio inputs there is also one analog stereo RCA output (labeled "Recorder").

Power Amp In & Pre-Out: There's also a stereo RCA input (labeled "Power Amp In") that lets you use the Model 30 as a standalone stereo power amplifier for additional system configuration versatility, along with a stereo RCA preamp output (labeled "Pre Out") that let you connect the Model 30 to an external power amplifier.

Heavy-Duty Binding Posts: The Marantz Model 30 integrated amp is outfitted with a set of heavy-duty binding post terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana plugs (single only). You can connect a single pair of 8 ohm or 4 ohm loudspeakers.

Headphone Out: The Marantz Model 30 features a front-panel 1/4" headphone jack for connecting a set of headphones. When the headphones are plugged into this jack, audio will no longer be output from the connected speakers or from the pre-outs.

Tone Controls: The Marantz Model 30 integrated amplifier offers Bass, Treble, and Balance controls.

IR Remote: The included IR remote provides wireless operation of the Marantz Model 30 integrated amplifier, as well as as Marantz CD player, SACD player, and/or Network audio player (all sold separately).

Remote In/Out: Remote control input  and output jacks let you directly connect the Model 30 integrated amplifier to other Marantz components for easy system control. The remote input and output consist of a mono-RCA jack.

Auto Standby: With the Auto Standby Mode turned on, the Model 30 integrated amplifier will enter standby mode after approximately 30 minutes (continuous) of no output from the speakers, preouts, or headphones.

Q
I'm considering either the Marantz Model 30 or Model 50 to drive my pair of Wharfedale Evo4.4. Can you tell me the pros and cons of each with these speakers?
randy  Mar 31, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Randy. Thank you for your question. I honestly do not see any cons when speaking of Marantz amplifiers. The Model 30 has more power, and support for moving coil phono cartridges. Amplifier classes are different on the two. The Model 50 uses class A/B, and the Model 30 transitioned to class D. The signal to noise ratio typically is better on A/B amps and in this case, its 6db higher on the Model 50.
thomas  Mar 31, 2024 (Staff)
Q
You state that this is a class AB amplifier, but I seen more than one professional reviewer labeling it as a Class D amplifier. Marantz calls it a "switching amplifier". Which is it, class AB or D?
richie  Aug 08, 2023
1 answer
A
This Marantz Model 30 is a class AB amplifier confirmed, Christopher. It is good news that Marantz refers to it as "switching" as that is also a confirm that it is not a class D amp. Most folks tend to prefer the AB design over the class D for a warmer, more musical sound at the expense of more heat created during usage. This is also a big reason why we love the warm, soulful sound of these Marantz integrated amps!

Q
Can I connect subwoofer to this Amp?
phuong  Mar 14, 2022
4 answers
A
Yes you can. It doesn't have a "subwoofer out" at the back. Its called something else but you can use that.
saurabh  Mar 14, 2022
A
Yes in the pre out, it has to be with rca right and left (double rca) cable. Not like single rca cable as the av receiver that have a mono rca sub out.
alexis  Mar 14, 2022
A
The amp does not have a dedicated sub-woofer output. The manual indicates (P.10) that the PRE OUT connection can be used to feed a subwoofer, but I don't have any first hand experience with that.
vann  Mar 14, 2022
A
YES. Actually I am using dual subwoofers. There are connectors. Check manual.
steven  Mar 14, 2022
Q
Could you connect this to rel t5x via high level input?
noel  Nov 08, 2021
1 answer
A
It sure could, but a better way would be to use the mono low level input on the back with the sub and the preamp outputs on this Marantz integrated amp.

Q
Would the nice remote included with the Model 30 also control a standard Marantz CD player such as the CD6007? (I know it can control the new matching SACD player...)
doug  Mar 20, 2021
2 answers
A
It gives you a basic control, but I think not all functions of CD6007 will be accessible from the Model 30 remote. For example I use mine to control PM6006 and I don't have all inputs on the remote.
vladimir  Mar 20, 2021
A
Good question. I have not tried it with the cd6007 since it has its own dedicated remote.

Q
I have purchased both the Marantz 30 and 30n amplifier and SACD player, one of them awhile back, and the other recently. Can you confirm the warranty on each really is five years, except the optical? Warranty in box says 3 years!
dennis  Jan 30, 2024
1 answer
A
While the included paperwork does list 3-years, the warranty is 5-years on 30-series models Dennis. If you have any issues with your products purchased from Crutchfield, we provide lifetime Technical Support and are always here to help.

Q
I purchased a Rotel 1572 mk2 from Crutchfield to power Cornwall speakers. It didn't meetmy expectations so I returned it. I am reading good reviews about the marantz 30 but I am also considering a McIntosh MA252. I do not want to buy and return again. In your opinion which amp do you think would work best with my speakers?
tony  Jan 21, 2024

A
i would go with the Mac if you keep those speakers. Tubes sound good with Klipsch.
alan  Jan 22, 2024

The Marantz has met all my expectations and I am very pleased with it Love the phono section Pure analog too Good value for the $
alex  Jan 22, 2024

Hi. You have great speakers. I bought my first Cornwall speakers in 1979. I currently have Bowers and Wilkins 704S3 speakers. I'm completely satisfied with my Marantz Model 30. I think you will love it with your Klipsch. Plenty of good, quality power. Looks great. Easy to use. I may change speakers in the future but my Model 30 is here to stay. It's all analog, which I wanted. If you need digital connectors this probably not the one for you. I also got the Marantz CD 60 to go with it. Good luck with your journey. Now, I miss my Cornwallis.

Hi it's Bill. I'm running the Marantz model 30 with Klipsh Forte 4s and it sounds amazing. I too was going to go with McIntosh integrated amp, but the Marantz Model 30 was reviewing more positively, so I went that route. The Forte 4s needed 200 hours of play time to come to full sonic beauty, and a big thing, I changed out my speaker wire for new 100% copper speaker wire - and the entire system came alive. I'm running a Rega RP1 turntable, a Marantz said player (30n) and the integra 6 disc cd changer and couldn't be happier. I was going to 'split' the Model 30 and just use the preamp and use a different tube power amp - but I keep listening to it and there keeps being nothing broke - its a nice warm sound, but with plenty of clarity and immediacy as well. Very well rounded. Also there is a newer review out on the Model 30 which is stating its expected to be heirloom quality equipment - because of the sound it emits. I really wasn't interested in Marantz equipment, but this is an awesome sounding integrated amp. I believe the Cornwalls are 100 watt per channel speakers and very efficient as well - so it feels like a good match (the Cornwalls were my second choice). All the best.
william  Jan 21, 2024
Q
Would the Model 30 be a good match with Klipsch Heresy IV speakers?
robert  Jan 11, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Robert. Thank you for your question. Pound for pound the Marantz Model 30 is one of the best integrated amps in it price point. Perfect match power wise for the Heresy's.

Q
As there are no "digital" inputs into this unit, will I be able to hook up my Marantz ND 8006 CD player to the unit? Perhaps explaining what is excluded because there is not digital input would help too
bruce m  Dec 13, 2023
2 answers
A
The nd8006 has analog output so you would easily connect it to the CD iRCA inputs
timothy  Oct 08, 2024
A
The only means of connecting your ND8006 would be via its RCA preamp outputs. I would recommend using the FIXED preamp outputs on the ND8006 to connect into the CD preamp inputs on the Model 30.

Q
Does the remote for the marantz model 30 have controls for bass, treble and balance?
daryl  Jun 25, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Daryl, and thank you for your question. The Marantz Model 30 has a button to turn on/off the tone and balance controls. The actual adjustments need to take place on the Model 30 front panel.

Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget.

Q
Is there a home theater bypass on the model 30 or the model 30n?
kevin  Aug 12, 2021
1 answer
A
The Power Amp In connectors are the inputs that turn this into a power amp (no preamp processing) so that it can be used in a home theater system
jason  Aug 14, 2021 (Staff)
Q
Are there any subwoofer connections? If not, what is the recommended method for connecting a subwoofer?
brent  Apr 24, 2021
3 answers
A
"The preouts are variable so they would be ideal for subwoofer output (as the record outputs are fixed and won't change output level with volume)." Also, some subwoofers have speaker level inputs which you connect to the speaker terminals.
william  Apr 30, 2021
A
While there is not a "sub out" jack per se, you can connect a subwoofer by way of the Pre-Out jacks on the Model 30 to the "line level" jacks if your sub has those available.
robert  Apr 24, 2021
A
Maranrz Model 30 amp has pre-amp output you csn use to connect your subwoofer(s), but I own REL T/5i and use high-level output because it is revommended way for or RELs.
