Great addition to LG TV. Easy to install. Bought for elderly in-laws whose hearing is fading. They said they could hear things during movies they hadn't been able to hear for years.

Great for dialogue

This review is heavily biased toward dialogue clarity for movies and shows. I compared the LG SC9S to the JBL Bar 700 after first buying the LG as I became unconvinced the LG was the best for our needs. My interest in both was based on RTINGS.com website giving them very good scores on dialogue but the JBL a bit higher. I've been an audiophile since my teens and always preferred JBL's sound signature so I was expecting it would surpass the LG. I had both bars setup together under our 55" LG OLED with one connected to the HDMI ARC and the other to optical. This allowed me to compare the bars with the mute button on the remotes and my wife and I watched a variety of content for a week comparing the two. For each program/movie I'd optimize each bar for dialogue and then compare. I also switched their connections to ensure that was not a factor and it wasn't. The bottom line is both bars are excellent but in different ways. The JBL has a wider soundstage and a bit more heft to the bottom end but the LG excels on dialogue clarity. The LG has 8 different voice presets in the app with further adjustments for center and up-firing drivers as well as bass and treble whereas the JBL has only a 3 band equalizer and sub control which is very limiting. The JBL sounds good but when dialogue is muddy the LG provides adjustments to assist and easily surpasses the JBL. I returned the JBL and kept the LG and we are extremely pleased.
Pros: Exceptional dialogue clarity, multitude of adjustments through the app, exceptional build quality, impressive lows from a relatively compact sub, wireless rear satellites for less than $200.
Cons: Not the widest soundstage, app connection is glitchy but LG says they're aware and working on it, no volume level indicator on bar but does show on LG panels if connected through optical (not HDMI ARC).

Decent sound for its price, but no mids

I purchased this soundbar at discount as part of a bundle on a discounted LG TV (LG C3 OLED) during Super Bowl weekend sales. The setup was easy enough, although the bar came with extensive (and heavy!) mounting hardware to mount it directly onto the LG TV. I have a TV stand and decent cable management so I did not need this mounting and did not use it. The bar connects to the TV through HDMI-eARC, so on an LG TV it offers up a couple additional pre-configured sound profiles. Overall sound quality is decent- the bar (and its accompanying subwoofer) put out plenty of noise, but the lack of mids is glaring. I have had to fiddle pretty extensively with the sound settings in the TV to get the profile to my liking, and even then it's pretty unbalanced; the tweeters are very thin and tinny so I have to boost the Bass quite a bit to get anything resembling a mid tone, which then washes out a lot of the other sound. Also, this is picking nits, but the soundbar constantly blinks when muted. As someone who often watches movies or plays games through headphones, this is an annoying and unnecessary distraction. If you are someone who values tight integration (Both at the hardware and software level) for your TV+Soundbar, or are not picky about sound and can get this unit as part of a bundle, this is a product to consider. Otherwise, look up-market for a bar with better performance from Samsung or Vizio.

Great product and company

The before purchase customer support via Chat is a great tool. Rex was very knowledgeable and helped a lot. I could not be more pleased. This soundbar is in use with an LG 55" OLED television. Sounds great and allows us to operate the system with ONE remote...what a blessing. Next purchase will be the LG rear speakers

Good looking and better sound.

A must have to get beautiful sound and compliment to the LG OLED C series TV. Add a set of rear speakers and perfect. Only setback is missing 4 mounting philip screws 4mm X 26mm, got them at Home Depot for a few bucks and all good.
