About the Sonos Era 100 2-pack

The next generation in Sonos audio
The next generation in Sonos audio
These two compact and humidity-resistant Era 100 speakers let you enjoy the convenience and sound quality that made Sonos famous. These next-gen speakers offer some exciting upgrades over their predecessor, the Sonos One. These include built-in Bluetooth for even more listening flexibility and a 47% faster processor for improved stereo separation and detail. And the Era 100's mid-woofer is 25% larger, giving it stronger, richer bass.
You can place the speakers in separate rooms to begin — or add to — your Sonos wireless multi-room audio system. Or keep them in the same room and wirelessly pair them for two-channel stereo. You can also pair them with a Sonos sound bar like the Beam (Gen 2) or Arc and use them as rear-channel speakers in a home theater sound system.
Sonos control app
The free Sonos mobile app gives you quick, easy setup and user-friendly control of the Era 100s and other Sonos speakers in your multi-room system. You can create and select playlists from a variety of music sources and have them play in whatever rooms you choose.
Choose from a huge selection of music sources
The Era 100s connect to your home Wi-Fi for access to online streaming services like Spotify®, TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and more. And you can stream directly to this speaker from your smartphone via Bluetooth — a convenient way for family and friends to share content.
Control your Sonos system with your voice
Each speaker has a built-in far-field microphone array that lets you issue music playback commands with the sound of your voice. Sonos Voice Control uses on-device processing for unmatched privacy. Amazon Alexa compatibility lets you use your Sonos speakers to issue voice commands to smart home devices like lights, locks, and security systems.
High-performance sound
Each Era 100 has three drivers, each powered by its own Class D amplifier. Two angled tweeters with a mid-woofer generate a spacious stereo soundfield.
Trueplay™ speaker tuning for optimal sound
The Sonos control app also lets you activate Trueplay. This technology uses the mic in your Apple iPhone® or iPad® to measure how the sound reflects off your walls and furnishings. If you're an Android™ user, Trueplay will use the microphones built into the speaker instead. The Era 100 then adjusts its own settings for the best possible sound.
Compatible with Apple AirPlay 2
The Era 100s have AirPlay 2 built in. That means you can stream audio directly from your iPhone®, iPad®, or Mac® computer through your Sonos system. That includes soundtracks from YouTube® videos and Netflix movies.

Stereo Sound: The Sonos Era 100 delivers finely tuned stereo sound with clear highs and rich bass at any volume level. Three discrete class-D amplifiers precision-tuned for the speaker's unique acoustic architecture power its three-driver array that consists of two tweeters and one mid-woofer. The dual angled tweeters create a crisp and accurate high frequency response and stereo separation, while the one mid-woofer ensures faithful playback of mid-range vocal frequencies and deep bass.
Sonos Wireless Multiroom Audio Eco-System: The Era 100 is part of the Sonos wireless multiroom audio eco-system consisting of a family of wireless network speakers, players, and amplifiers. Start with a single Sonos product and add more Sonos products over time. With multiple zones, you can play the same or different songs in different rooms of your home. Compatible distributed audio sources include internet radio, online music services, local network music libraries, as well as hardwired inputs. Up to 32 Sonos devices and 16 groups can be connected in one system. The Sonos Era 100 is compatible with the new Sonos S2 operating system (OS) and does not support the older Sonos S1 operating system (OS).
- Sonos S2 OS Compatible Products: The Sonos Five, One SL, Roam, ARC, Beam (Gen 2), Sub (Gen 3), and any Sonos products released after May 2020 will only be compatible with Sonos S2.
- Sonos S2 and S1 OS Compatible Products: The Sonos Play:1, Play:3, Play:5 (Gen 2), Playbase, Playbar, Connect (Gen 2), Connect:Amp (Gen 2), One (Gen 1/2), Beam, Amp, Port, Boost, Move, and Sub (Gen 1/2) support both Sonos S2 and S1 operating systems.
- Sonos S1 OS Compatible Products: The Sonos CR200 Controller, Zone Player, Bridge, Connect (Gen 1), Connect: Amp (Gen 1), and Play: 5 (Gen 1) will only support the older S1 operating system.
Notes:
- If you have have both, older "legacy" Sonos products and newer Sonos products in your system, you have the option to create two separate eco-systems - one that will be controlled with the older Sonos S1 controller app and the other that will be controlled by the newer Sonos S2 controller app.
- Click here for more information regarding Sonos "Legacy" S1 versus the new Sonos S2 Operating System and App.
Trueplay Tuning: Trueplay software within the Sonos S2 app dynamically tunes the speaker to the unique acoustics of the room. The layout of a room, and where a speaker is placed, can have a significant impact on the sound that you hear. Trueplay measures how sound reflects off walls, furnishings and other surfaces in a room, then fine tunes the Sonos speaker to make sure it sounds great no matter where you've placed it. When tuning the Era 100, Apple iOS users have two different Trueplay options to choose from: - Quick Tuning or Advanced Tuning. However, Android users can go through the Quick Tuning process only. The Sonos Era 100 speaker already sounds fantastic, but Trueplay brings you even closer to how music should sound. Completing Trueplay tuning for a room takes approximately 3 minutes from start to finish. Trueplay can be used with a single speaker setup, two speakers configured as a stereo pair, or either of these configurations with a Sonos wireless powered sub added.
- Quick Tuning: Quick Tuning uses the built-in microphones on the Sonos Era 100 to tune itself for its current location. The microphone switch must be on in order for your speaker to go through Quick Tuning. Trueplay's Quick Tuning feature is available for both Apple iOS and Android OS users.
- Advanced Tuning: Apple iOS users can choose to go through the Advanced Tuning process. The Sonos app uses your Apple iOS device's microphone to perform a more precise tuning of the Era 100. In order to perform Trueplay tuning, the Sonos S2 app for iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 8.0 or higher is required. This includes iPhone 4s and higher, iPad 2 and higher, as well as iPod touch 5th generation and higher. Trueplay tuning is not available if the "VoiceOver" feature is enabled on your Apple iOS device. Trueplay's Advanced Tuning feature is currently not compatible with Android.
Note: You will need to retune the Sonos Era 100 speaker using Trueplay, if you move the speaker within the same room or to another room, or change the configuration of the speaker setup (going from a single speaker to a stereo pair for example).
Equalization (EQ): After tuning the Era 100 speaker, you can adjust equalization (EQ) settings from the Sonos S2 app on your compatible Apple iOS or Android OS device. EQ adjustments include Bass, Treble, and Loudness. These EQ settings must be configured in the Sonos S2 app and are not available from the speaker's top-panel controls.
Wireless Speaker Pairing: The Sonos Era 100 supports wireless stereo pairing, can be used as wireless rear surrounds for compatible Sonos soundbar, and offers wireless connection to a compatible Sonos powered subwoofer. The compatible Sonos soundbar speaker and/or sub must be utilizing the same Sonos S2 operating system and S2 controller app as the Sonos Era 100, since the the Era 100 does not support the older Sonos S1 ("legacy") OS and app.
- Stereo Pair: You can wirelessly pair two Sonos Era 100 speakers to create an even wider soundstage with even more detailed stereo separation. Each speaker will smartly adjust to mono and act as the Left or Right speaker in a wireless stereo setup. You can only stereo pair a Sonos Era 100 with another Sonos Era 100; you cannot stereo pair a Sonos Era 100 with other Sonos speakers.
- Rear Surrounds: Two Sonos Era 100 speakers can be wirelessly paired together to create wireless rear surrounds for your compatible Sonos soundbar speaker - including the ARC, Beam (Gen1/Gen 2) and Ray - all sold separately. You'll need two Sonos Era 100 speakers to create a wireless surround pair; you cannot mix and match a Sonos Era 100 speaker with other Sonos speaker to create wireless rear surrounds. The Era 100 is not compatible with the Sonos Playbar or Playbase.
- Optional Wireless Sub: The optional Sonos Sub or Sub Mini (both sold separately) can be wirelessly paired with the Sonos Era 100 to enhance your system's bass response. Add the Sonos Sub to a single Sonos Era 100, a pair of stereo Sonos Era 100s, or a set of Sonos Era 100 wireless surrounds. The set-up procedure for the Sub adjusts the crossover automatically so it seamlessly integrates with the Sonos Era 100 and the rest of your Sonos speakers. Through the Sonos S2 Controller app, you can also set the phase and level of the subwoofer to match it the rest of your Sonos speaker system.
Mounting Options: Designed for versatility, the Sonos Era 100 can be positioned almost anywhere in your room. It can be placed on a tabletop, desktop, countertop, speaker stand (such as the 616E100SB; sold separately), or even on a bookshelf. The Era 100 can also be wall-mounted using an optional wall-mount bracket system (616E100MB; sold separately). The Era 100 is even designed to withstand high humidity, such as in a bathroom with a running shower. However, the Era 100 is not waterproof or water resistant.
- When the Era 100 is placed next to a wall or on a shelf, leave at least 1.0" of space around the back of the speaker for best performance.
- If using two Era 100 speakers as a stereo pair, place the speakers 8' to 10' apart. Your main listening position should be 8' to 12' from the paired speakers (less distance increases bass, while more distance improves stereo imaging).
- If you using two Era 100 speakers as surrounds, place each surround speaker about 10' from your main listening position with the speakers angled tward the main seated listening position. Also, leave at least 8" of clearance around each speaker for optimum performance.
Detachable AC Power Cord: The Sonos Era 100 comes with a 6.5' AC power cord that plugs into the bottom of the speaker and into an AC wall outlet or surge protector (sold separately).
Note: The Sonos Era 100 speaker is not battery powered.

Direct Control: Some compatible online music apps even allow you to stream audio directly from within their respective app without using the Sonos S2 app. Services that support direct control on Sonos include Amazon Music, Tidal, Spotify, Pandora and iHeartRadio. Amazon Music will require that this Sonos Skill be enabled in the Alexa app before using.
Capacitive Top-Panel Controls: There are capacitive touch controls on the Sonos Era 100 speaker that control basic playback functions - such as Play/Pause, Volume Up/Down, Previous/Next Track, Group/Ungroup Speakers, and Mute/Unmute Microphone.
Automatic Software Updates: The Sonos Era 100 supports free automatic software updates so you will always have the newest features and music services to enjoy. Simply register the Era 100 and Sonos will automatically notify you when software updates are available through the Sonos S2 Controller app.
System Requirements
Internet Service Provider: You'll need a high-speed, wired internet service provider connection such as cable, fiber, or DSL. Wireless internet connections such as satellite, mobile hotspots, or 4G LTE routers can experience delays between the internet connection and Sonos and are not supported. Using these types of connections can cause music to not play, skip, or cut out completely.
Wireless Setup: All Sonos products support 2.4GHz WiFi (802.11 b/g) and Open, WEP, and WPA/WPA2 Personal WiFi security standards. Some newer Sonos products support dual-band 2.4/5GHz WiFi (802.11 n/ac/ax) and WPA3.
- The network must not contain enterprise access points that have been configured to require certificates or other forms of enterprise authentication. If you are using multiple access points, make sure they are all set to the same 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless channel.
- Networks using wireless range extenders are known to cause issues with Sonos systems that are configured in a wireless setup. If you need to extend your home WiFi to use Sonos in a wireless setup, we recommend using a WiFi mesh router to do so.
- Sonos cannot connect to guest networks or networks that use a Port page to login.
Wired Setup Requirements: A Sonos system operating in a wired setup will require one of your Sonos products to remain connected to the router via Ethernet cable at all times. If your Sonos system is in a wired setup and you use a WiFi mesh router with multiple wireless nodes, we recommend wiring your Sonos product directly to the primary wired mesh node. Avoid wiring any Sonos products to the wireless mesh nodes. If you are on a corporate or advanced network, it must not block Spanning Tree Protocol (STP).
Note: Ethernet over Power devices (also known as HomePlugs or Powerline adapters) are not supported by Sonos. While they may work for some systems, they tend to cause intermittent problems with Sonos. EoP adapters create an added delay between your network and Sonos. If the internet connection is too slow or the delay is too great, it can cause your music to skip or cut out completely or your players to drop off from the network.
