Very nice replacement

Overall very nice unit with amplifier goes well with the JL component speakers in my doors and the powered MTX subwoofer under the passenger seat. Install was fairly easy and I did call tech support when camera and steering wheel didn't initially work and steered me in the right direction.
Pros: Nice touch screen and amplifier with subwoofer controls
Cons: None so far

Advice for this Install
Priscilla from W Hampton Bch, NY on 9/12/2023
2012 Ram 1500
Overall my installation went very well. For a RAM 1500 the removal of the panels is super easy. When all was said and done I fired up the truck and everything worked perfectly. Be advised that I highly recommend that you lay out the wiring harnesses before you begin to make sure that you understand all of the connections. Have extra butt splices on hand and do not hesitate to call the Crutchfield tech support line if needed. They are very helpful. TAKE YOUR TIME! Another piece of advice that the Alpine directions do not tell you is that you have to have the parking brake engaged to access your settings on the radio unit.

I like the unit a lot. The compact size of the combo is amazing. This is replacing a Kenwood unit that expired about a month after the warranty ended. My only concern deals with heat. Just playing at a reasonable volume, the amp was putting off quite a bit of heat. I don't know how it will cool when hidden in the dash. Time will tell. Alpine has always made a quality product.
Pros: Display, size, ease of wiring.
Cons: heat

Awesome Upgrade!
Charles from Rock Hill, SC on 5/1/2023
I recently installed the ILX-407 and KTA-450 amplifier in my 2013 F-150, and I am very impressed - wish I would have done this a long time ago! The installation was completed without any problems and was even easier, thanks to Alpine's 'power stack' design. By having the KTA-450 mounted directly on the back of the ILX-407 head unit, makes for a clean installation by eliminating the need to run extra wires. Needless to say, this package delivered a huge audio improvement over the factory radio!

Alpine iLX-407 and 4-channel Amp Package

I've always wanted an Alpine. Now I have one. Crutchfield's products and support are unparalleled. I haven't been a huge buyer in the recent past but have loved them and bought from them since I was a kid and now that I'm putting some new electronics in my car and probably my house soon, will find myself as a more regular customer once again. Crutchfield always stands ready to provide tips and advice that you might not have otherwise considered. They are also patient, which is nice. As for Alpine, they have a feature built into them where one of the wires has to be wired to the parking brake (at least on Jeeps anyway); if it's not, Alpine's products lock you out of some features on the stereo/head unit. Some of those features are obviously necessary for basic functionality. Ostensibly this is to prevent you from 'distracted driving' and that is annoying. It's probably more of a CYA to help prevent lawsuits in the event of an accident and driver's blaming Alpine for it. But this is entirely an annoying feature of Alpine and not a reflection of Crutchfield. That feature will take some getting used to but is manageable. I will say, however, that unless other manufactures across the board also have similar lockout features, it would make me think long and hard about buying another Alpine for that singular reason alone. In the meantime, I will enjoy the package I bought for years to come.
Pros: Crutchfield's support, as always.
Cons: Alpine's annoying lockout feature on their head units to supposedly prevent distracted driving.

This head unit touch screen is super responsive, it is pretty fast, and pretty full-featured for the money. The powerstack amp makes it really easy to install but makes for lots of wires pushed behind the unit.be careful to manage the space behind dash. But the sound quality from the amp is excellent.
Pros: great value, fast interface, very responsive touch screen, excellent sound performance
Cons: powerstack amp config adds additional cabling stuffed into dash

Alpine iLX-407 and 4-channel Amp Package
Chad from Simpsonville , KY on 8/2/2022

The ilx-407 was exactly what I was looking for. The previous owner of my truck hacked the wiring harness to pieces installing a small amp. The ilx-407 with the accompanying amp replaced the stock head unit and the aftermarket amp with a small footprint leaving room for all of the maestro wiring harness to retain the steering wheel controls. Definitely would buy again.
