Aura's are musical

System: Oppo 105 source Parasound P7 pre Schiit Loki Max Equalizer Hafler 9500 amp Aura 4's Velodyne DD 15 sub Room 35 x 30x 11 Hard surfaced, no treatments Speakers 8' apart 12' listening distance Past tower speakers I have owned: Infinity Renaissance 90- too detailed, not musical. Jbl 250 Ti - I liked the big sound, played loud good for rock. Bass loose. Revel Salon 1 - too reserved, needed more life. Jbl HDI 3800 - Did not like the horn, shy on bass. I looked at these with question for quite awhile. Not much for reviews, the Aura is between the bottom and the flagship for Wharfdale. My feeling is it's a lot more "flagship". I play mostly cd for music and use the Aura's for home theatre also. Some notes on what I notice after a month of listening- * A nice split between detail and musical , the speakers seem to work for good recordings great, and rock from the 60's and 70's well enough. That was a critical thing for me to not sound like crap on older, lesser recordings. They passed. * I am not a fan of tinny sharp highs. On all well recorded music, they sound true. No EQ required. Great high end.If there is something not right in a recording, the fabulous Schiit equalizer does a great rescue and makes it much more musical. * Plays loud with composure, in a large room. My experiences with Crutchfield have always been stress free. That is so valuable with buying sound unheard. Chappy @ Crutchfield d
