Features
Fully Horn-Loaded: The Klipschorn AK7's three-way, Tractrix horn-loaded system delivers exceptional efficiency and sound. For the AL6, Klipsch has coupled each driver (tweeter, midrange & woofer) to a precisely measured horn and optimized it for one of three pass-bands (highs, mids, & lows). This design generates greater acoustic power with less wattage, producing crystal clear sound with minimal distortion across the frequency spectrum.
Separate Speaker Cabinets: The Klipschorn AK7 consists of two speaker cabinets; the top acoustic suspension (sealed) cabinet houses the horn-loaded tweeter and midrange driver, while the bottom acoustic suspension (sealed) cabinet houses the horn-loaded bass woofer.
- Horn-Loaded Tweeter: To optimize high-frequency performance, the Tractrix horn-loaded tweeter is paired with a patented, wide-dispersion extended phase plug which minimizes cancellations and equalizes wavelengths - providing a wider, more consistent soundstage. This also allows the Klipschorn AK7 to deliver greater clarity and coverage.
- Midrange Compressions Driver: The 3" midrange compression driver adds a full inch to the drivers used in previous Klipsch La Scala models. Its larger compression area maximizes energy so that the driver doesn't have to work as hard to increase the sound pressure to the horn's throat for greater detail and less distortion. The Tractrix horn-loaded midrange driver also features a shorter 2" throat that improves time alignment by bringing the exit point of the driver closer to the other. Plus, Mumps technology improves coverage, adding small contours to help maintain frequency response to the horn's edge.
- Low Frequency Horn Design: The Klipschorn AK7 houses a 15" fiber-composite cone woofer with a trihedral exponential folded horn. The Klipschorn's low frequency horn driver has been redesigned and is now fully enclosed. This eliminates the need for the loudspeaker to be positioned tightly in the corner of a listening room. The speaker only needs to be in the proximity of the corner to realize the horn's full performance. Additionally, the enclosed back provides positioning flexibility to angle the speaker to achieve the best stereo imaging.
Book-Matched Wood Veneers: Klipsch only uses book-matched wood veneers for the Heritage series. Each pair of Klipschorn AK7 loudspeakers is grain-matched using wood veneer panels that come from the same timber. The veneer leaves are kept in order as they are delicately sliced from the timber and precisely arranged to provide a mirror image at the splice joint - like turning the pages of a book. This gives each speaker a more aesthetically appealing and consistent appearance that is treasured more than any other cut of wood veneer. Each cabinet is carefully matched so that each speaker in the pair is practically indistinguishable from the other. The speakers move seamlessly together through the factory. Each finished product is inspected and labeled with sequential serial numbers, ensuring that each pair of speakers leave the factory as a meticulously crafted set.
Passive & Active Inputs: The Klipschorn AK7 is outfitted with both passive and active inputs, plus a passive output for flexible application. The passive & active inputs, as well as passive output are located on the back of the bottom bass-reflex woofer cabinet. The passive & active inputs, as well as passive output consist of binding-post terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana plugs (single only).
Optional Active Crossover: An optional Heritage Active Crossover tuned specifically for the Klipschorn AK7 speakers is available and sold separately. The Heritage Active Crossover aligns time and phase while boosting frequencies and balancing EQ for a flat, color-free response.
Heritage Series (Made in the USA): The Klipsch Heritage Series is built and handmade in the USA at Klipsch's manufacturing facility in Hope Arkansas. They are meticulously handcrafted and assembled using the finest quality materials, even down to the highest-grade adhesives and fasteners (no detail goes unnoticed). Each Heritage Series loudspeaker utilizes Klipsch proprietary horn-loaded technology to bring a live music listening experience into the home. All Heritage Series loudspeakers are available in a variety high-quality wood veneers. Klipsch Heritage loudspeakers are built to rock the house and stand the test of time. This is a speaker that will be handed down for generations to come.
