Features
1.125" D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) Tweeter: The Lumina V floorstanding loudspeaker features Sonus faber's iconic D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter with a 1.125" hand-coated soft silk diaphragm and Sonus faber's exclusive visco-elastically baffle decoupling for exceptional high frequency reproduction.
Triple Cellulose Pulp Cone Drivers: The Sonus faber Lumina V floorstanding speaker houses one 6" midrange driver and two 6.5" bass drivers with custom-made cellulose pulp cones blended with other natural fibers, robust rubber surrounds, and specially-designed, ultra-free compression baskets for a natural sound that is both dynamic and linear with high clarity midrange frequencies and deep, accurate bass notes.
Hybrid IFF Crossover with Para-Cross Topology: The Lumina V floorstanding speaker employs Sonus faber's new 3-way Hybrid IFF Crossover with Para-cross topology - a "semi-balanced" crossover design circuitry, where some components (capacitors and inductors/coils) are placed on the negative rail of the circuit. The benefits of combining Interactive Fusion Filtering (IFF) and Para-cross topology into the speaker's crossover network include a reduction in the drivers' back EMF (Electro Motive Force), allowing them to operate in an organic and optimal way, while lowering crossover sensitivity to radio frequencies and further improving overall sound definition.
Note: The Lumina V Amator boasts an upgraded crossover network at 2850Hz (a 250Hz improvement over the Lumina V), elevating the overall listening experience.
Multi-Layer Wood Enclosure: The Lumina V floorstanding speaker uses a multi-layer wood cabinet with a real-wood veneer that is available in a Walnut, Wenge, or Red finish. The included cloth grille magnetically attaches to the front of the speaker.
- Lute Shape Mid-Hi Internal Chamber: Inside the speaker cabinet is an internal mid-high chamber designed with Sonus faber's iconic lute shape, This dedicated internal chamber for the tweeter and midrange driver is able to maximize the structural rigidity and the acoustic performance of the midrange, while simultaneously reducing standing waves that can lead to distortion.
- Bass Reflex Port System: The cabinet is a bass reflex design with a down-firing port for greater extension in low frequencies and reduction of distortion. The down-firing port also allows for more placement options, allowing you to even place the speaker closer to a back wall.
Dual Nickel-Plated Binding Post Terminals: The Lumina V has two sets of nickel-plated binding posts connected by jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers (make sure to remove the jumpers in this scenario). The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire (up to 10AWG). The nickel-plated binding post terminals provide excellence signal transfer and resistance to corrosion.
- Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier (the upper set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers).
- Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your separate amplifiers have identical gain to preserve the speaker's voicing balance.
Note: If you decide to bi-wire or bi-amp, you must remove the jumpers between the terminal posts (failure to do this could result in damage to your amplifier and loudspeakers).
Mounting & Placement Options: The Lumina V floorstanding loudspeaker is perfect for stereo listening, but is also ideal for use as front or rear channels in a home theater setup. The Sonus faber Lumina V features With the protective discs underneath the attached spike feet the speaker measures 41.3125" tall. With only the spike feet attached the speaker measures 41.25" tall.
- You should position a pair of speakers so they form an equilateral triangle with one another and the main seated listening position.
- The two floorstanding loudspeakers should be at least 6' apart from each other.
- The pair of speakers can be "toed-in" and angled inward to aim the sound at the main listening area for a better stereo soundstage.
- It is recommended to position the speakers away from the corners of the room, and at a distance of at least 3.3125' from the back wall.
Note: The Lumina V floorstanding speaker should always be used with the spike feet installed to accommodate the down-firing port optimum sound, as well as maximum stability. The protective discs should always be used on hard-surface floors to protect against dents and scratches.
Lumina Collection: The Lumina collection pays tribute to Sonus faber's historic heritage and are made in Italy. The Lumina series boasts the core values of Sonus faber with the use of its iconic materials - including synthetic leather, natural composition of drivers, and real multilayer wood cabinets. The Lumina line-up consists of two floorstanding loudspeakers (Lumina III/Lumina V), two bookshelf loudspeakers (Lumina I/Lumina II), and a center-channel speaker (Lumina CI). The Lumina collection delivers uncompromised sound performance that is perfect for a two-channel stereo setup or a multi-channel home theater system.
Optional Subwoofer: Add on a Sonus faber Gravis series powered subwoofer (Gravis I/Gravis II) for an even more immersive listening experience with bigger, deeper, and more impactful bass.
