Dali rocks!

Thank you Crutchfield for directing me to the Dali line of speakers and helping me select the best Dali for me! I initially tried the Opticon 2 Mk2 stand mount speakers and immediately fell in love with Dali's big soundstage and generous sweet spot. The '2s' mids and highs were airy and detailed, without fatigue, but even with a pair of REL subwoofers, I was wishing for a bit more dynamics. Crutchfield let me return the '2s' and guided to the Oberon 9s for bigger dynamics. One of the '9s' was damaged in shipping, but still functional so I tried them out and found that the Oberon 9s delivered the dynamics, but their tone was a bit warmer and gave up a bit of the sweet high frequency finesse I loved in the '2s'. I happened to have a conversation with someone with Dali and they urged me to try the Opticon 8 Mk2. Crutchfield came through again, allowing me to return the '9s' for a pair of Opticon 8s. WOW. The '8s' sound like a big standpoint speaker rather than the typical floor standing speaker. They have all the clarity, detail, definition and soundstage of the smaller Opticon 2s and the added bass adds a great deal of weight without being dark or boomy. The Dali rep was 100% correct when he told me the woofer arrangement on the Opticon 8s, borrowed from Dali's flagship models, reduces room modes and makes them easy to position for the best sound. The Opticon 8s are awesome!
Pros: Over the past year or so I have tried speakers from Acoustat, KEF, Polk, Monitor Audio, Martin Logan, and others but the Dali speakers have delivered the best soundstage and largest sweet spot I have experienced in my home. Plenty of detail, air and clarity with zero fatigue. Easy to position for the best sound, Dali recommends positioning them straight ahead, not angled in. They are very forgiving on how far you position them from the front wall.
Cons: My only nitpick is although I find the 8s bass to be plentiful and deep, it's more relaxed and smooth rather than quick and punchy. I am driving the Opticon 8s with a Marantz Model 30 (200wpc @ 4O), which is on the warm side and I've seen some Dali reviewers recommended a more neutral amp. The USA distributor for Dali also handles NAD, so a powerful NAD amp might be just the ticket. FYI - I find that the Dalis sound better with at least 80-100hrs of break in.
