Awesome Speaker

Monitor Audio Silver series is awesome. I have Silver 3006g and Silver 5007g. They both serve up great imaging, sound stage, depth and clean tight bass. The 500s do it a bit more than the 300s. Bought the 500Ss with the current reduction in price, I don't think there is a better value/performance package out there at the moment. But, if all you care about is thumping bass these may not be for you..

Pros: Imaging, clarity, tight bass, size

Cons: They don't make my coffee for me in the AM

Very Nice Speakers

Bought these with a new Yamaha A-S1200 integrated amp. They sound great with that amp, though I must say I did not listen to others. They work just fine with 90 / 75 watts (two 8 ohm in //) x 2 . I don't crank it up but they can get loud enough for me. Breaking them in now and will bi-wire em. Funny story, I was listening to the Hollies "Long cool women..." and around 1 min, they sounded raspy like there was definitely something wrong, next day that song can on on my assistant device and sure enough it's the song that sounds like a loose connection. So these speakers will speak with all that is "there". Did not use the stands, put some of those felt pads on the bottoms, looks great on our hard wood floor.

I bought these speakers to replace the very good and over achieving SVS Prime Towers and I am not disappointed at all. The Monitor Audio speakers are the most musical speakers I have ever owned and that includes a pair of Dunlavy SCIV's I bought in the late 90's for $5000. They do everything well and sound good with all types of music. The most stunning thing about them is the clarity in all frequency ranges. The highs are smooth and liquid. The lows are powerful and well defined. They just allow music to sound like music. If you are thinking about spending in this price range or even 2 to 3 times as much, you should consider them. As a bonus, they look great in the gloss black finish. My system consists of an NAD M66 and M23. The speakers are bi-wired with Audioquest Rocket 33 cables terminated with banana plugs. I use the balanced connections between the M66 and M23.

Quite a few online reviewers were right when they compared these speakers to others costing 6-7K. I've owned them since last November. I'm using them with high-end tube, solid state gear, and a great digital and analog front end. Not only that, but I've owned a many classic speakers over the years, but these stand out as special. They are way more resolving and detailed than any other $3550 loudspeaker I've heard lately. The Silver500's also have thunderous bass that maintains Its composure, and sounds like real instruments being played. If the source projects a wide sound stage. The Silver 500 will reproduce It

Great Speakers! I was already familiar with the Monitor Audio line having been a dealer for them in the early 2000's and they are still my favorite choice for speakers.

I am a life-long audio appreciation-ist. My Dad taught me that. I have worked at an audio-video store and have subscribed to audio-video magazines for years. I know good sound and good video, and how to put together a best for least system. However, there are no dealers within many miles of where I live to be able to hear good quality speakers. I have researched, read a critiqued well over a year, finally narrowing things down to the best bang for the buck system. Read the reviews, you will know. I took a chance on these without hearing them, and with unrealistic expectations bought them knowing that Crutchfield would provide a return safety net. They will never get these speakers back. I bought these along with the center and rears. I smile and laugh whenever I listen to them. I had high quality floor standers from the 90"s. These have opened up another dimension. The sound stage is front, back, sides and around huge. I find myself checking to make sure the surrounds are not on. The bass is tight and true. The highs sound realistic and engaging and the mid's pull you in with a realism that is engaging and pure. The air around the instruments blossums. I listen to rock, hard rock, metal, jazz and some orchestral. Movies never sounded more engaging. Money can't buy happiness, but these speakers were bought with the hope of something more. They do not dissapoint. I have joy when ever I sit down and listen.

Pros: Sit back, smile and laugh good.

Cons: Not enough time to listen more.

I decided to try out these speakers because of positive reviews in Stereophile and Hifi News and wow were they right. The speakers have a coherence from the bass to the midrange to the treble which I find very pleasing. I appreciate Crutchfield's policies such as free shipping and a 60 day try out period. I also called Crutchfield before I ordered these speaker, regarding whether they would be a good fit for my listening area and with my other gear. All in all a great speaker system and a great buying experience.

I got those speakers 5 days ago and started listening. So, they don't be finished the aging at all. But I soon noticed that these speakers have a wide sound stage, wonderful low sound and a very sweet high sound. I was listening music through B&W 705 signature, and I couldn't feel relaxing with them. But those new speakers make me relaxing. I really like Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G.

I don't buy speakers very often. Previous speakers, which I still use are Paradigm monitor 9 ver 7 and the B&W 704 circa 2006. I haven't auditioned Monitor audio speakers for awhile, and I am surprised how good these sound compared to those I heard years ago. The first thing that stands out is the bass. I would say for two channel listening, a sub is not required. I am breaking them in at the moment and initially they were a little bright, but they have started to sound a little less fatiguing as more hours are played. For jazz, rock and soft rock these sound outstanding. For some of the newer synthesized dance type music selections it can be hit and miss. This is where the bright, fatigue sound comes into play, but as mentioned earlier they do sound better as more hours are put on the speakers. It's been awhile since I purchased a speaker, and enjoyed listening to albums all over again. I would say these are keepers at the moment. They also look great.

Very misleading on the size of the woofer. Actual is 6 1/4" size plus the rest is the rim. Very disappointed!
