Big box speakers for the win!!

Brett from Boise, ID on 7/7/2025

Absolutely incredible speakers. These speakers play any type of music perfectly and need no eq changes to help balance them out. Very balanced highs and bass output and I have them pushed directly against my back wall. They work well off of any type of power source you use, but I found that they really love to be pushed to the max with wattage to really get the fullest sound out of them. Very happy with my purchase and I love the fact that the stands act as vinyl storage.

The speakers for the rest of my life!

I have always been a fan of loving clear and detailed sounding speakers and recordings (all media digital or analog). Not to put other dynamic brands down, I've owned Klipsch bookshelf speakers and towers. For a long time I have loved those speakers. When I read about the Super Lintons, I just had try them as my ears age, and based on the reviews and the looks of these incredible speakers. These are the ones I will be riding into the sunset with. Tight but present bass, clear mid range and natural fine realistic highs. These were a worthy investment for me as a music lover. All friends agree that they leave my place changed hearing the sound these mahogany beauties produce. And I am grateful for being a Crutchfield customer for several years. Thank you and please forgive the 1 con listed. I appreciate the wonderful service, assistance and support! Thank you !

Pros: All things beautiful that speakers can offer. Ear and eye sonic candy for all genres of music. Awesome investment for music lovers who embrace the classic /vintage looks of high end speakers!

Cons: The 6 ohm nominal, 3. something ohm minimal issue. What is best - high or low impedance for a proper setting of these beauties. Being confident about this would be helpful! (Got 2 different answers to this question). Thanks!

Soundtastic!

My initial impression using average gear is favorable as the bass is solid, vocals have good presence and symbols are natural.

Pros: The clarity of bass instruments and impact of percussion instruments is stellar in my very large room.

Cons: Warfdale supplied white gloves are too slippery for safe handleing of the speakers while installing the speakers on their stands.

You Cant Go Wrong With These !

Greg from BUFFALO, NY on 6/6/2025

Awesome speakers ! I started a new set up that included the McIntosh MA5300 Integrated amp and paired that with the JBL L82 Classic. It wasn't long before the neutrality of those made me switch to the Klipsch Heresy IV but the horn loaded mid and tweeter were just too bright for my taste. After spending hours researching I settled on a set of Wharfedale Super Linton, and I am SO GLAD I did. The sound that these produce is so good and works great with every type of music. The one thing that is super important is you have to give these speakers time to break in. I have never had a set of speakers that went through so many changes with every hour of use added to them. They started out weak sounding with low bass but still had better sound than most speakers. After a good 30 to 40 hours of use and pushing them a little in the higher rpm level they came to life ! These speakers are tight when new and you have to give them a minimum of 40 hours for them to start to shine. The build quality goes without saying, this is one of the nicest cabinets and finishes you could get and the matching stands make them perfect. The other pro is the fact that placement was way easier than most and they did not require being placed feet from the back wall, I have mine set at 7 inches from the back wall and toed inward slightly. This is by far the best sounding and nicest looking speaker on the market for a cab this size. Another pro, no sub required ! and that's an additional bonus.

Pros: Everything ! The sound quality, the build quality, The finish and the fantastic quality of the stands.

Cons: Not a big deal but the grills are a little hard to remove. Wharfedale states to keep the grills on for a better sound quality but the recessed grill is a little tough to remove.

As the title says the mahogany Super Lintons look beautiful and sound great. I'm running a Wiim Ultra along with a SMSL SU-1 DAC to my Pioneer VSX-LX305 using the Direct setting for two channel listening. They also shine as front speakers in the home theater setup. They've upgraded my okay sounding setup into an impressive sounding system!

First Crutchfield is awesome. Ordered these on Tuesday arrived in south Florida on Friday. I am running 2 jbl subs with my system. Marantz nr1200 and a 1976 pioneer pl570 turntable. I bought lynyrd skynerd second helping 45 rpm and saved it to be the first listen. These speakers and stands are beautiful first class all the way. The sound out of the box was just amazing. Can't wait to loosen them up. I'm super happy with this purchase

Pros: Just sound amazing

They sounded great out of the box: detailed, fast, and great sound stage. Low end felt lacking at first, but after a couple of months of breaking in the low end is coming through nicely. Also they are very easy on the eyes and the stand storage is great. Super happy with my purchase.

Great Sound

These speakers replaced a pair of Klipsch Epic CF-2's (Sold from 1994-1996 for $1,700). I have enjoyed my time with the Klipsch Epic's but I wanted something modern. I almost bought the Lintons a few times. When I saw the Super Lintons and researched the differences between the two versions, I pulled the trigger on the Super Lintons. I have had them for four days and have been running them non-stop (70+ hours on them). I wanted the MoFi SourcePoint 888s, but their 96 Lbs. each was a deal breaker. Out of the box, the Super Lintons were what I would call stiff. The sound was towards the harsh or bright side with minimal bass. However, by the third album through them, they loosened up and began showing their true colors. The bass appeared tight and controlled and the sheen on the treble disappeared. The "Wow Factor" appeared and I spent the next few hours enjoying them. The Klipsch Epic CF-2s are still fine speakers, but they cannot compete with the technological advances in speaker design since the mid-1990s. I highly recommend the Super Lintons. The Super Lintons are powered by a vintage Luxman R-115 Stereo Receiver (70 Watts) or a Marantz SR6014 (110 Watts). The Luxman drives them the best as it has a better power section than the Marantz. Both work fine as the Super Lintons are easy to drive.

Pros: Super build quality for the speaker and stands. Once broken in, the sound is excellent.

Cons: It would have been nice to have magnetic grills.

Simply put....WOW! These speakers are my first foray back into HiFi stereo in over 15 years. The packaging was impressive for both the stands and the loudspeakers! Crutchfield double boxed these units and shipped them as soon as they came into stock! The craftmanship of the speakers is like fine furniture and they sound amazing!! Very easy to listen to, I find myself playing more music while doing other tasks in my music room. I am currently running these off a tube preamp and crown power amp that are in my recording rack. next will be to choose a good integrated power amp to run these on. I am VERY happy with my choice!

Great pair of speakers. Very happy with my purchase. This was an upgrade to my Focal Chora 806 bookshelf speakers. They did need a little time for break-in to fully open up. Soundstage is wide. Mids are exceptional. Bass is good enough where I am debating whether I need a sub in my small listening room (10'x12'). The stands are a must have. Together with the speakers they look great!.

Wharfedale Super Linton - Great Look, Great Quality, Great Sound

Al from TEMPLE, TX on 2/22/2025

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I was lucky enough to do an A-B comparison for the Super and Regular Linton Heritage series. My review is based on my preference to vintage audio gear. I listen to everything from classic rock to Sinatra. You will hear a difference after about 150 to 200 hours of break in. Even though both speakers are considered "neutral", I found the mid-range and high frequency sonics to be more forward and revealing in the Super Linton - probably due to the upgraded crossover components. There is a slight bass role off by design in the Super Linton - which enables the speaker to be placed much closer to the wall. A sub is not warranted for my musical taste. You will love listening to music where drums are the center of attention. I prefer a warmer richer sound, so I removed the spiked feet. I placed the stands on black steel furniture legs. Soundstage and imaging were excellent with both speakers. The Super Linton is about 3dB more efficient (more volume with less wattage). Dynamic range was also excellent. Both speakers will cover all genres of music very well. I do listen to loud music. The soft dome tweeters, allow for long periods of listening without fatigue associated with horn drivers. The Super Linton possesses that vintage look, and the quality of materials and build quality is amazing. The Super Linton works well with lower wattage amps, but I would recommend 70wpc or more. The Linton is a legacy speaker that will stay in your family for years

Pros: Exceptional quality, look, and sound

Cons: For some, the bass roll off vs the Regular Linton

SWEET SOUND

Verified employee review (What's this?)

Wow!! These are truly sweet sounding speakers, even better than I imagined. The bass is great. I can't see a need for a subwoofer. They sound fantastic right out of the box. I'm anxious to see how some hours played on them will only make em sweeter. They also look fantastic. I got the mahogany. I originally ordered the Wharfedale Linton Heritage (non Super) and they were on back order, well that date came and went in January without another date to be expected. So I reluctantly popped an extra $1,000 and got these within 3 days. I'm so very glad i did:) Don't hesitate. Crutchfield's customer service was awesome. Shipping was on time. Thanks for all who helped me!

Pros: The sound. Look great.

Great clarity and really good soundstage in a neutral /natural presentation. When compared to my Klipsch Heresy IV I find the Super Linton's to be more enjoyable to listen to at moderate levels for a longer period. I'm playing both speakers through a Yamaha R-N800a which seems like a very good match to my ears. I also have a 1971 restored Sansui 7000 that I regularly use with the Klipsch Heresy's to great enjoyment but have not hooked the Wharfedale's up to as yet. I enjoy my vinyl more with the Sansui over the Yamaha as the music feels warmer this way. I've only had the Wharfedale's for a week and have not had the time to hook them up to the Sansui and my turntable which are on a different floor in the house. At the time of this writing I'm still breaking in the Linton's and expect they will sound even better than they do already as time goes by. The Wharfedale Super Linton's easily rate 5 stars in my opinion as does my experience buying them from Crutchfield. Super fast shipping and fair pricing. Oh, the stands are fantastic and no assembly required.

Words can't describe how excellent the Super Linton speakers are in every faucet of musical enjoyment. I've been continually searching for the perfect sound from the perfect set of speakers since the 1970's, and I have had some outstanding speakers over the years. The Wharfedale Super Linton have to be experienced to accurately describe the feeling of total musical satisfaction...words just don't do justice to these speakers, but my non verbal smile says it all. Seriously, you have to hear the music coming from these bad boys to appreciate the vibe.

Low bass could be better but overall sound is very good. Only had a week and listened to for about 8 hours total. Maybe after break in period bass will be better. I was hesitant on buying a speaker with a 8 inch woofer but reviews were good. I know a 10 or even 12 inch woofer would produce Deeper bass but I'm still satisfied with my purchase. If you're looking for a nice retro style speaker these are them. I'm 66 years old so how much more time do I have to listen to my old 70's rock before I say it's too much. lol!
