Vail Amp: The Vail Amp turns the Amazon Echo Dot (2nd generation) into an in-wall high-performance audio source. The small fully contained amplified assembly firmly holds the Echo Dot (2nd gen) in an attractive wall dock that allows for accurate voice intelligibility and convenient light switch level access to the Dot's surface controls. Its high-power amplifier can be connected to up to two pairs of any in-ceiling, in-wall, or cabinet speakers. The Vail Amp becomes your in-wall volume control keypad, voice control, and streaming music source.

High-Performance Digital Amplifier: The Vail Amp is equipped with a 30 watt x 2 channel Class D amplifier capable of powering two pair of 8-ohm loudspeakers or one pair of 4-ohm loudspeakers. There is a switch on the front of the Vail Amp that can be set to 8- or 4-ohm. The Vail Amp utilizes four screw-down terminals that will accept 16- or 18-AWG bare wire (will not accept pin-connectors, spade-lugs, or banana plugs).

Analog Inputs & Sub Out: The Vail Amp features a male stereo minijack (3.5mm) connector which plugs into your Echo Dot (2nd generation). The included Wall Plate has an stereo RCA input and mono-RCA subwoofer output. The stereo RCA input allows you to connect a secondary audio source to the Vail Amp (your second audio source must have a variable audio output; the Vail Amp was not intended for audio sources with fixed audio outputs). The subwoofer output provides a convenient location to connect any powered subwoofer for added bass.

Note: A 6.5' CAT-5 cable is provided that plugs in between the Vail Amp and the Wall Plate in order to transmit the audio from the analog inputs and sub output between the two in-wall components.

In-Wall Installation: Both the the Vail Amp and included Wall Plate will require you to cutout a hole in your wall (mounting templates are provided). The Vail Amp requires a circular cutout with a diameter of 4.5" and mounting depth of 3.25". The Wall Plate will require a rectangular cutout measuring 1.25" (w) x 2.8125" (h) x 2.25" (d), and mounts to a single-gain box (sold separately). The outer dimensions of the Vail Amp with its paintable trim cover installed measures 5.3125" (w) x 5.3125" (h) x 0.25" (d). The outer dimensions of the Wall Plate measures 2.8125" (w) x 4.5625" (h) x 0.6875" (w).

Note: When mounting the Vail Amp and Wall Plate, keep in mind the length of the included cables. The power/ground cable and CAT-5 cable that run through the wall can be extended up to 300' to mount the Vail Amp and Wall Plate further apart. The 24V power supply has a fixed 39" DC cord, so you'll need to make sure the Wall Plate is mounted near an electrical outlet.

24V Power Supply: The Vail Amp comes with a 24V power supply. The power supply plugs into an AC wall outlet or surge protector (sold separately) and features an attached 39" DC cord that will plug into the "Power" port on front of the Wall Plate. The included 6.5' power/ground harness runs through the wall and plugs in between the Vail Amp and Wall Plate to supply power to the high-performance digital amplifier and your connected Echo Dot (2nd gen). The Vail Amp features a male microUSB connector that plugs into your Echo Dot (2nd gen) for power.

Certification means Atrium speakers can effortlessly withstand the outdoors, and hold up in extreme temperatures and precipitation.

Polk Patented Technologies: Patented Dynamic Balance and Klippel Optimization technologies ensure the perfect material performance, eliminating driver and tweeter "artifacts" for more realistic sound reproduction at high and low volume levels.

• Dynamic Balance: A Polk perfected method of analyzing a speaker's microscopic behavior with laser Interferometry. Polk engineers can tune out unwanted resonance and distortion with the right combination of materials, geometry and construction techniques. This brings you pure, distortion-free sound.
• Klippel Optimization: By using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the woofer's motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension bringing you the best possible performance even at extreme listening levels.

Woofers: Each speaker features a 4 1/2" (11.43cm) long-throw mineral-filled polypropylene cone driver for clean midrange and deep, accurate bass. For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 3/4" (19mm) anodized aluminum dome tweeter with rubber surround and neodymium magnet for better power handling and smoother response.

Rugged Enclosure Design: The durable, mineral-filled polypropylene cabinet design, with molded-in bracing, sounds like a real speaker (not "an outdoor speaker"), and survives years of seasonal changes, for great sound, no matter what the weather. The rugged, mineral-filled polypropylene enclosure features a rustproof aluminum grille, rustproof aluminum bracket, and stainless steel/brass hardware.

Note: The speakers are available in a black or white finish. The enclosure is also paintable.

Broad Coverage Baffle Design: The sculpted front, steeply-angled baffle design and rounded enclosure minimize diffraction (sound reflecting off of hard edges) for more open and lifelike imaging.

5-way Binding Posts: The Atrium 4 has a pair of gold-plated 5-way binding posts that will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, single- and dual-banana plugs.

Speed-Locking Mounting System: The included rustproof aluminum brackets allow multiple mounting options and are quick-and-easy to install. The Atrium 4 can be mounted either horizontally or vertically and aimed to deliver the best possible sound in a variety of situations The integrated brackets provide full 180-degree rotation (when mounted vertically or horizontally. The mounting brackets even allow the speaker to be mounted snugly in a corner or under an eve (at a downward 45-degree angle). You can remove the bracket and use the speaker's built-in stability feet, if you simply want to place the speaker on a table or shelf.
