Ethernet is a great way to move digital media — photos, movies, and music — around your home. Unlike other types of digital data, audio requires precise timing of the signal to produce maximum musical realism. For sending digital audio from Point A to Point B, AudioQuest's Cinnamon Ethernet cable offers several advantages: high-speed, plus extremely low timing jitter and time delay (latency). You can count on bit-perfect transfer over significant distances (up to 328 feet without an active booster or repeater).

Superior engineering and construction

Cinnamon uses eight solid copper conductors, and each wire is silver-plated, which benefits high-frequency applications like audio. Signals at these frequencies travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. Because the surface of each conductor is made of high-purity silver, the cable's performance is close to that of a solid silver cable, but priced much closer to a solid copper cable. The primary reason AQ's Cinnamon cables cost more than the corresponding Forest cables is Cinnamon's thicker silver plating.

Any solid material adjacent to a conductor actually becomes part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation absorbs energy (loss), and some of this energy is stored and then later released as distortion. Solid High-Density Polyethylene Insulation ensures critical signal-pair geometry while minimizing insulation-induced phase distortion.

Solid 1.25% Silver Conductors: Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications, like Ethernet audio. RJ-45 Connectors (Directional): A gold-plated, nickel RJ-45 connector with 100% shield coverage is used on each end of the Ethernet cable. These gold-plated, nickel connectors maximize signal transfer and resist corrosion. Arrows are clearly marked on the RJ-45 connectors to ensure superior sound quality. For best results have the arrow pointing in the direction of the flow of music. For example, NAS to Router, Router to Network Player.

cat 7 ethernet cable has a larger frequency range and faster speed than cat 6 ethernet cable. more technical information available if you search it. the AudioQuest Cinnamon is also very well made. i believe this makes a big difference in quality of use. best answer i can give my friend. i am not an engineer.
