Features
Rocket 33 FR Speaker Cable: The Rocket 33 FR speaker cable combines many of AudioQuest's advanced cable and audio technologies to deliver a smooth, open sound with impressive dynamic range.
- Solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) and Long-Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors: The AudioQuest Rocket 33 FR speaker cable uses a carefully finessed combination of Long-Grain Copper (LGC) and extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC). LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries and definitively better performance. The astonishingly smooth and pure PSC further eliminates harshness and greatly increases clarity. Solid conductors prevent electrical strand-to-strand interaction, a major source of distortion. The smooth surface of AudioQuest’s conductor metals nearly eliminates harshness and greatly increases clarity compared to lesser materials.
- Double Star-Quad Geometry: The relationship between conductors defines a cable's most basic electrical values (capacitance and inductance). However, even when those variables are kept in reasonably neutral balance, the particular geometric relationship between conductors greatly affects the sound. Star-Quad geometry is not only vastly superior to conductors run in parallel, but also to the same conductors as two twisted pairs.
- Carbon Based Noise Dissipation: The Rocket 33 FR cable's negative conductors are covered with partially conductive Carbon-Loaded Polyethylene. This remarkable material reduces radio-frequency garbage being fed back into the amplifier. The sonic benefit is exactly the same reduction in "hash" and improved dimensionality that comes whenever RF interference is reduced in an audio circuit. In addition, a carbon layer damps interaction between positive and negative conductors, and an external Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System reduces external interference.
- Foamed Polyethylene Insulation: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. The Rocket 33 FR speaker cable, however, uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation on both conductors. Because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile, Foamed-PE, with its high air content, causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.
SureGrip 300 Banana Connectors: The Rocket 33 FR speaker cable employs AudioQuest's SureGrip 300 banana connectors on each end. There are two SureGrip 300 connectors on the "Amp" side and four SureGrip 300 connectors on the "Speaker" side.
- Cold-Weld Terminations: The connection between the SureGrip 300 banana plugs and conductors is made using AQ's Cold-Weld system which provides a superior connection that ensures that the structural integrity of the conductor is kept completely intact. The Cold-Weld system refers to a combination of high pressure at the point of contact and the use of copper impregnated paste. A controlled amount of pressure is used to essentially make the conductor and connector mechanically "as one" without the use of heat.
- Directional-Controlled Conductors: A fundamental aspect of AudioQuest's multifaceted Noise-Dissipation technology, Direction-Controlled Conductors assure induced noise is dissipated and drained properly. On either end of the speaker cable, the banana connectors are labeled "Speaker" or "Amp". Make sure the Rocket 33 FR speaker cable is used in this direction.
Note: The SureGrip 300 banana connectors are dull looking because there is no harsh sounding shiny nickel layer underneath the silver.
