AudioQuest Carbon
Jeff from Leesburg, VA on 11/14/2024
I purchased this cable to connect between a Bluesound Node Nano and McIntosh MDA200. The journey started with using a high quality audio RCA cable for the coax connection. The sound was thin with poor separation. So I purchased a low cost ($10) coax cable from a local big box store and the sound improved dramatically. Enter the AQ Carbon -- this cable sounds as good as the legitimate coax and probably better in some fringe critical listening. That said, the packaging, connectors, cable sheathing, are all luxury. First class. Recommend for a high-end system.

I have a McIntosh 2700 with DAC2 module. I first tried a cox cable that was about $30. I did improve sound from my CD player so I tried the Audio Quest carbon to see if there would be further improvement. I would say yes in that if did provide somewhat more tonal detail through out the audio spectrum on my B&W 803 D4s. If I had to quantify the improvement I'd rate it as 10-20%. Was it worth the price differential? Well....let's just say you'll never get 10X the improvement but it was enough for me to keep it. Personally I think the whole high end cable thing is somewhat overrated.

Sound improvement and soundstage improvement
James from MONTEREY, VA on 8/10/2024
I have been using a coax cable I purchased online. It's label read "High Performance Digital Audio Interconnect with nitrogen injected foamed polyethylene dielectric, double shielded, ultra series". The improvement in sound after replacing that cable with the AudioQuest Carbon was incredible. The review below by Joe from Ormond Beach, FL (11/17/2022) says it all. Those that say cables don't make a difference are mistaken. My system is very resolving and the improvement in sound was worth the high cost.

On Crutchfield and Cables: A Saga
Brian from Asheville, NC on 7/25/2024
Got wonderful assistance from the folks at Crutchfield, same as ever, and I've bought from them since the early 80s. The cables rock and are a vast improvement for a system rapidly being updated. Thanks to Red and Willy for both professional and good-humored help. We'll be calling again in a few weeks to continue the project. Thanks and all best!

High Quality Cable
Jerome from Brookfield, WI on 5/29/2023
Well made high quality cable. I was very impressed with the connectors and the shielding. You would have to be a very serious listener (me) to discern the difference between this cable and the $800 cable that I bought to replace it.

Noticable audible improvement
Joe from Ormond Beach, FL on 11/17/2022
Audio is more dynamic, better sound stage imaging left to right and a small increase in front to back with some CD's. While AudioQuest cables are somewhat expensive you will never get the full potential out of your system if you continue to use interconnect cables that typically are included with a device or ones that are on sale for a few bucks. Buy one from a dealer that offers free returns and give it a try.
Pros: Good overall performance for the cost.
Cons: AudioQuest has increased cost of some cable by 25%.

Tate from Southport, NC on 7/11/2022
I bought these to replace the inexpensive RCA interconnects that connected my Oppo 105 CD player to my Rotel A14 integrated amp. I noticed an immediate improvement in the sound. The Audio Quest Carbon delivers a cleaner, crisper, "airier" sound with better sound staging. I also hear little nuances in the music that I didn't hear before. A good investment.
Pros: A real improvement in sound.
Cons: They were not $12. Really....there are no cons.

One would not think that a good quality wire would make such a vast difference on my CD player. I must say its night and day. Over just a wire! This CD player has never sounded so good. Crutchfield has all of the best brand names of everything and all of their advisers are friendly and patient. Like The Monkeys say, "I'm A Believer."

I watched a video with Michael Fremer where, in regards to cables and components, several times he says "everything makes a difference". I agree with that 100% especially when it comes to cables. I know that it's the most contested issue in the world of hi-fi, but when I take all of my Audioquest out and replace it with lesser versions, I'm talking power cables and interconnects, there is definitely a difference. It's undeniable. This coaxial cable is not going to change your life or make your system sound that of systems costing such and such more dollar, but it definitely does it's part to make a difference.

Worthwhile for high-quality components
David from Beckley, WV on 11/16/2018
I was debating between the Audioquest Carbon digital coax cable and the Audioquest Vodka digital optical cable when I found a CNet article which compared the two. The article declared the Carbon as the winner due to its better clarity. Having tried both myself, I agree. Plus, the Carbon is $50 cheaper.

This AQ Carbon cable is bad to the bone. Be aware it takes a few hours of brake in time to sound it's best. I like it. I use this with a CD player.
Pros: Will make your equipment sound as good as it can
Cons: No mention of break in time for digital cable?
