if these are direction controlled, do they work with earc? earc is bidirectional i believe.

They do, Robert! The directional arrows are for video signal flow, and eARC audio works very well with the AudioQuest Pearl 48 HDMI cables. I noticed a nice improvement in sound and picture quality after installing these in my own system.

Should the arrow on the cable that goes between the tv and receiver in a 5.1 system point to the receiver or the TV? I would think it should point to the receiver since the TV is generating the sound and sending it to to the receiver. However, I also have a blueray box that goes to the receiver and then from the receiver to the TV which is using the same cable to send video to the TV. How should I instal the cable?

Greetings William. Thank you for your question. For your application the arrow would point to the TV as the video stream is coming from your Bluray player and the receiver and going to the TV.

These made a very obvious difference in the audio quality. Voices are much clearer and cleaner now. These are a very worthwhile buy. Videos also appear brighter though harder to quantify.
