Protect your treasured audio/video gear

Your A/V system is an expensive investment that's worth protecting. The new PowerQuest 505 from AudioQuest can be used as a bulwark against lethal power spikes and surges. This non-sacrificial surge protector also doubles as a line conditioner and provides your components with filtered, noise-free power.

Non-sacrificial power protection

It's common to find surge protectors out there that are sacrificial — they can take one big spike and safely dissipate it, but they need to be replaced afterwards. Non-sacrificial surge protectors like the PowerQuest 505 can take hits time and time again and keep defending your gear. AudioQuest made sure the '505 can withstand maximum surges of up to an impressive 6,000 volts/3,000 amps. For reference, that's the upper limit of what a home's breaker box can withstand.

Thankfully, the '505 doesn't let such powerful surges through. Once the incoming power hits 140 volts, the surge protector opens its main power relay in less than a quarter of a second, severing the electrical pathway and keeping your sensitive equipment safe from harm. Once voltages go back down to a safe level, the '505 resets the circuit and operates as normal.

Clean power filtration

Not only does the PowerQuest 505 keep your gear safe, but it also helps it perform better too. The '505 uses ultra-linear noise dissipation to keep noise from muddying your system across a wide frequency bandwidth. What that means in simple terms is that the haze of "unnoticed-until-you-notice-it" noise is gone; your TV has a clearer picture, and your audio system sounds more detailed with a quieter background.

12 outlets for connecting your equipment

Even if you have a huge system, the PowerQuest 505 has you covered. It has 12 total outlets. Eight of those are linear-filtered and are perfect for connecting source components or constant-current components like TVs, streaming sticks, DACs, and more. The remaining four outlets are high-current and are geared toward variable-current components like power amplifiers, powered subs, powered speakers, and the like.

Noise-rejecting power cable

AudioQuest built their name manufacturing excellent cables, so it's maybe no surprise that this conditioner comes with a high-quality power cable. The included detachable PQ-715 cable rejects EMI and RFI noise, and it terminates in a flat-to-wall plug that can squeeze into tight spaces.

Features

12 Optimized Outlets: AudioQuest's PowerQuest 505 (PG-505) surge-protector/line-conditioner provides a total of 12 optimized AC outlets; including 4 High-Current outlets for variable-current amplification components (such as power amps, powered speakers, A/V receivers, subwoofers, etc.) and 8 Ultra-Linear Filtered outlets for constant-current source components (such as TVs, media-streaming devices, disc players, turntables, preamplifiers, cable boxes, etc.).

  • 4 High-Current Outlets: There are four High-Current Power outlets (labeled “1” through “4”-four outlets in all). These are designed to ensure optimal performance from any power amplifier, monoblock amplifier, integrated amplifier, powered receiver, or powered subwoofer, by minimizing the AC impedance to the amplifier power supply.
  • 8 Ultra-Linear Noise-Filtering Outlets: There are 8 Ultra-Linear Noise-Filtering Outlets that have been optimized for line-level audio preamplifiers, DACs, universal players, turntables, and video products that utilize constant-current voltage amplifier circuits.

Isolated AC Power Banks: The 12 AC power outlets are isolated into 3 power banks with 4 outlets each. Each AC power bank is isolated and optimized for the connected device, enhancing the PowerQuest's ability to efficiently control the complex interactions of radio-frequency noise and other induced noises present in the AC power supplied from the utility, the noise that will be present on and in every AC cord, plus the noise that is produced within your system's components and that "backwashes" into the PowerQuest’s output circuits.

  • Bank 1: The 1-2-3-4 AC power outlets are High-Current outlets designed for amplifiers, receivers, and powered speakers.
  • Bank 2: The 5-6-7-8 AC power outlets are designed for source components with Ultra-Linear Filtering.
  • Bank 3: The 9-10-11-12 AC power outlets are also designed for source components with Ultra-Linear Filtering.

Non-Sacrificial Surge Protection: Unlike traditional surge protectors, non-sacrificial surge suppression prevents both high voltage and current from damaging your equipment, ensuring that the AudioQuest PowerQuest 505 won't fail over time. The PowerQuest can survive repeated 6000V/3000A input surges, which is the maximum that can survive a building's AC electrical panel.

Extreme Voltage Shutdown: If more than 140VAC is present on the incoming AC line for more than a quarter of a second, the circuit will instantly open a high-current relay that will disengage the AC power from all the PowerQuest AC outlets, activating the red front-panel LED “Overvoltage Protection” warning indicator. Once the event has passed, or the building wiring fault has been corrected, the circuit will automatically re-engage.

Ultra Linear Filtration: The PowerQuest 505's Ultra Linear Filtration removes more noise and distortion than most common power conditioners, dramatically improving your system's performance, by combining Differential-Mode Noise Dissipation & Common-Mod Noise Dissipation.

  • Differential-Mode Noise Dissipation: Differential-Mode filtering addresses asymmetrical noise that is already present on the utility line or "backwashed" via electronic appliances and components. Differential-Mode Noise Dissipation technology offers a 22dB reduction from 30kHz-1GHz.
  • Common-Mode Noise Dissipation: Common-Mode filtering is used to address symmetrical noise, which is typically picked up by the AC Line. Common-Mode Noise Dissipation technology offers a 22dB reduction from 30kHz-100MHz.

Detachable AC Power Cord: The PowerQuest 505 (PG-505) comes with a AudioQuest's PG-715 detachable 6.5' AC power cord (IEC 3-prong) that features a "flat-to-wall" plug. The inclusion of this Direction-Controlled AC power cable is crucial to maximizing RF-Noise dissipation.

Mounting Options: The PowerQuest 505 (PG-505) is a "component-style" surge-protector/line-conditioner that can sit on the shelf of your AV stand or cabinet. It can also be mounted in a 2U space of an equipment rack using the included rack-mount brackets.

  • Dimensions when Tabletop Mounted: 17.0625" (w) x 3.5" (h) x 15.5625" (d)
