Serious Enclosures!

I ordered these Klipsch Speaker Enclosure Units a couple of weeks ago to accommodate some Klipsch CDT-5650-C II in ceiling speakers I also purchased, both on the advice of other great reviews I read here on Crutchfield, and with having other Klipsch Speakers which have treated me well and produce beautiful sound throughout the years I knew I couldn't go wrong. Although I have not installed theses enclosures or the speakers yet, I can honestly say that Klipsch products Never disappoint and are Always Well Built Products! These enclosures are the first time I've ever purchased, but upon pulling them out of their boxes, they immediately impress with just how well they are constructed! They're actually better than I imagined them to be, and look to be very easy to install between my 16" oc ceiling joists. Both these enclosures and my speakers were very well factory packaged for shipping and once again Crutchfield continued to also impress with their Super Fast Order Processing and literally 2-Day Delivery!!! I'm Very Happy with my purchase through Crutchfield as I believe the Price Point for both the enclosures + speakers are very competitive in the marketplace and I know Klipsch will once again not disappoint!! Can't wait to hear how these enclosures enhance the sound of my speakers.
Pros: Heavy Duty Construction, yet lightweight for their size and with them being made of steel. Nicely insulated enclosure interiors. Pre-drilled holes on edges for installation screws into your joist. Two nice punch out openings with One Speaker Wire Opening Attachment Clamp provided which is also a nice touch.
Cons: None....these babies are a great choice if you're looking to enclose your speakers in between ceiling joists and/or wall joists either in exposed open construction or prior to drywall being installed.

Speaker cans!

Fully functional, attach to the joists with screws. Holds speakers. I painted mine black. Please ignore the temporary lighting fixtures in the pictures.

Cons: Only 8.47" Had to modify to fit a 8.5" speaker

Beefy and as described. As others have mentioned they're made for 16" on center construction so if you have 24" joists like I do, you'll have to brace them.

Overall this product is great. I ordered six of these and three of them came with the corner(s) bent or dented. Not a super big deal as drywall goes over it but still.

Put these up in a new construction and the sheet rock installer cut a perfect hole for my Klipsch 2650 in ceiling speakers. I'll update on the sound after the build is complete.

Klipsch ME-650-C met/exceeded my expectations. Very strongly built and well finished. The insulation inside is installed more neatly than the product photograph indicates. Packaging appears good as product arrived with no damage/deformation.

Great product for pre-construction. They will not fit a 24" span as it describes in the product description, you will need to add blocking. They are very well constructed and I would buy them again.

Excellent product and quality!! Instillation was very simple and they look outstanding. Included mud ring makes dry wall installation very simple.
Pros: Installation was fast and simple and has two options for knockout locations and comes with mudring for easy drywall installation.

Makes speaker installation so much easier. I installed them before having the basement ceilings blown in with insulation. No cutting drywall after and no insulation falling out.

I found this product before someone on a forum suggested a much cheaper alternative, basically a sock that covers the back of the speaker. If cheap is what you are looking for, seek out that product. If you want a very well made, very well thought box to contain and protect ceiling speakers, one filled with insulation, one easy to install and which a Klipsch speaker fits perfectly, you want this product. Well worth the asking price, and I bought 4.

worth the money

Great Item, worth the money. I installed them in my celling that had 20" on center rafters, I had to add 2 x 4's across the rafters for the boxes to fit but that was easy. Once the sheet rock was installed they looked and worked great!
Pros: Easy to install, keeps the blown in insulation off the speakers, sounds great.
Cons: None, unless you just don't want to spend the money.
