A little flat

I was looking for a solution to replacing my mid 90's Klipsch speakers. My wife does not share my passion for good audio, and REALLY does not like floor speakers. I purchased the Denon AVR-S670H to pair with these and was very disappointed in both. I packed up the receiver to return, but with holes cut in my wall for these speakers I figured I'd try my old Yamaha RX-V995 (also from the 90's) before giving up on them. I am glad I did! The bass was much better. Solid, not booming. Don't get me wrong, the old Klipsch speakers ran circles around these, but these are in wall speakers. The midrange is kind of flat and a little forward in the vocals and the highs are lacking, but as an overall in wall speaker goes, they will do. I am going to get a small sub, with my wife's blessing, to fill in the bottom end. These have tough shoes to fill as they will be used for the front left and right for home theater duty and in stereo with our record player.
Pros: Super easy, slick install. Seems well built.
Cons: Could be more well rounded, midrange seems good, but the upper and lower ends not so much
