Expensive, but worth the money

I came into the process of selecting components for our family room system with a positive bias toward NAD Masters components based on positive experience with the NAD M33 integrated amp in my home office. I standardized my streaming to the BluOS format and have a Roon Nucleus tied to this for whole-house availability of Tidal MQA and my own library. I can also stream vinyl around our home from the turntable connected to the M33. I kind of choked on the price for this unit, along with the NAD M28 7-channel amplifier that I chose to go with it, but I have to say that it was money well spent and I couldn't be happier with the performance of my system as a whole with this powerful new duo at its core. Ample cool-running power, absolute quiet background, close to zero distortion based on Purify Eigentakt technology, and the flexibility to customize the configuration and acoustics make this a superb set-up for audiophile stereo and the highest levels of surround sound performance. The build quality is apparent and it's coupled with a design that you won't want to hide in a cabinet. These (processor and amp) have been coupled with Revel Performa Be center-channel and front speakers, KEF surrounds, and a REL S510 subwoofer. The sound quality is superb straight out of the box, but once I dialed everything in with the included Dirac Live, the room came alive with sound that's compelling regardless of format, setting, or volume. Expensive, but I got what I
Pros: Outstanding performance Seamless integration with BluOS and Roon Complete control and flexibility Broad range of supported formats Modular design to enable future upgrades Clear quality in design, components, and build Dirac Live room correction
Cons: Expensive, but worth the money

Truly amazing sound; excellent value.
Crutchfield customer from Akron, OH on 8/13/2021
I bought this to replace my Theta Casablanca II (from ~2001). Once installed and calibrated for the room, the sound is amazing! I have never heard a system with such great range and control. It is an amazing experience. It is nice to have a preamp/processor that has current inputs/outputs and supports all the latest standards. I had some challenges with setup, but got most issues worked out. The included Dirac Live is super cool and I was able to make it work pretty well just going on intuition. I am reading in detail now about how it is supposed to be used and will likely recalibrate once I understand it better. This seems to be a critical part of the overall audio experience. Overall, I am really happy with this preamp/processor. It has been a challenging, but highly rewarding experience putting it into my system.
Pros: Dirac Live on board Fabulous sound Very flexible/capable unit
Cons: Display is too bright (even on dim setting) Unintuitive unboxing experience - manual is online which should have been made perfectly clear.

Querky
Crutchfield customer from Chicago, IL on 3/16/2021
I feel the documentation is somewhat lacking, even online help is quite limited. It could be because of COVID, but I send a question for over a week and still no answer. The connection for ATMOS or Height speakers are somewhat limited. I do not understand why they can not have RCA connections in addition. A strange has pop up, I have my Sony XBR-77A9G acts as Center channel, have not determine whether it is TV or Preamp yet, but the audio from the TV goes out intermittently?
Pros: I love the sound
Cons: Always have some issues or querks with this brand
