Bought from a local dealer. These are beautiful speakers and sound amazing for music and using as fronts for home theater. If you don't have the space for the 702/703 models, these are perfect. They really open up at higher volumes too.

Pros: Sound, great vocals and instruments. Big sound for the size.

Bowers & Wilkins 704 S3

Purchased to complete my open living room 5.1.2 setup. (2 704S3's + HTM72 S3 + 4 In-ceilings for surrounds and heights + Martinlogan Dynamo 800x sub + Onkyo receiver). This replaced an outdated satellite speaker set. Needless to say, the sound difference is massive. Very impressed with the clarity of the towers and overall balance of the sound. I originally was going to purchase a Klipsch system. After hearing a demo of the 704 S3's in person, I couldn't unhear the sound. Did a lot of research and no matter what speaker I listened to, I kept thinking about the B&W's. Paid more than I anticipated, but I'm glad I saved up my pennies. They also look amazing. I listen to music(all genres) and watch movies equally. Also, ordering from Crutchfield was a good experience. The local store I demo'd the speakers in did not have any stock in the mocha color. And they had no date when they would receive more. Received 2 days after ordering from Crutchfield. The packaging was very impressive.

Pros: Clarity.

Cons: If you don't want to spend the money for them...don't listen to them in person. ??

sound great, visually smaller than expected, easy to set up, a bit pricy for what you get and would recommend some of the larger speakers if you have a large room and are going to spend this much $.

Pros: sound great

Cons: clean look without the cyclops on top but small size is a negative in a big room

New 704 speaker a resounding success

When one thinks of high-end, audiophile loudspeakers, Bower and Wilkins automatically comes to mind (for over 60 years) among very few brands at the top of the heap. Although not at the level of their 800 Diamond series, the 704s are a spectacular speaker at this price point. I was amazed at the razor-sharp clarity, detail and broad soundstage. My interests lie in Classical music, pop of the 60s and 70s, and home theater. I have them paired with an SVS subwoofer for Classical music that dips below 48hz and for 4k DTS:X. I'm not bass happy and use the sub just to complete the frequency response down to the threshold of hearing. Watching "Independence Day" is a real gas with the 704s and the accompanying B&W center speaker (and Klipsch surrounds). Two-channel stereo is a delight. Upon listening to Stravinsky's "Petrouchka," Ravel's "Bolero," and Beethoven's 6th Symphony, the 704s disappeared into the room: woodwinds and brass took on a brilliant warmth. Strings were powerful but not overwhelming. Some maintain the B and Ws can be too bright. I don't agree. After a modest break-in period, I felt as if I were in the concert hall. I was a music theory professor for 37 years, so my ears are fairly discriminating. I auditioned Klipsch, Focal and considered Martin Logan. For this price range, I can't imagine a better choice. If you want a balance of 2-channel stereo and home theater, you can't go wrong with the 704 s3. Bravo B&W!

Pros: All the things mentioned above. Also, they are beautiful speakers in fit and finish, exactly what one would expect from such a high-end company. I have the white speakers and can't stop looking at them.

Cons: A sub helps, but perhaps this is not a "con."
