Crisp and clear entertainment
David from Redmond, WA on 9/11/2024
Clean, crisp dialog makes these front left and right speakers perfect for my home workout studio. Accompanied by the B&W matching center speaker, speech intelligibility is guaranteed for my entertainment. My workouts zoom by while I listen to great music watch movies, and hear instructions.
Pros: outstanding midrange and treble fits perfectly in my studio loft efficient speakers
Cons: requires subwoofer for boost in the bass

Beatiful but touchy
Virginia from Boise, ID on 8/16/2024
The construction of these speakers is wonderful. The workmanship is apparent in all aspects, including the B&W stands I mounted them on. I have almost reached the break-in period recommended by B&W (15 hours). The speakers are precise. They send you what was sent to them. The bass can really sound boomy, so low filter goes on right away. Placement, and use of the 2-level foam plugs is going to be necessary to tone that down. The tweeter is very nice - not brassy, just smooth, and again, precise. No background noise, or built-in-tone, from these speakers. So if you're expecting something different, choose another speaker. Mids need some playing with but can be achieved with finesse - keep in mind you are purchasing two-way, not three-way speakers. I really like the speaker/stand set up, and the sound is about what I was expecting, except the bass that takes over.

Bowers & Wilkins 706 S3
Danny from Asheville, NC on 7/26/2024
Set up on a bookshelf connected to Marantz M1. Wonderful combination providing a clear, yet warm sound. Tested it immediately with the Ray Brown Trio's Summer Wind, played from the CD on music hall player, but linked to the M1 using optical cable. The clarity of the instruments is brilliant. Had tried B&W with NAD amp before, but gave a rather shrill sound. The Marantz combo leaves the crisp sound, but adds warmth to it. Can highly recommend

Marantz Great Receiver
Andrew from Congers, NY on 12/8/2023
Great speakers a nice clear sound. the music feels alive and you can hear a lot of details in all the music. I listen to R&B, Jazz, rock, classic, and folk. I would have given these speakers a 5 star but they lack the deep bass I was looking for. I added my subwoofer to them using my Marantz PM 607 receiver WOW there it was the sound I was looking for and hear. I did not need to use the bass knob on my receiver. I did add part of the form to the back of the speakers which'd help with the mid range.
Pros: great speakers that have a nice clear sound and nice mid range.
Cons: could use deeper bass. ok as is.

Bowers & Wilkins 706 S3

My last speakers were B&W bookshelves from ~2000 and it was time for an upgrade. These sound great in our 12x30 apartment living room paired with an SVS subwoofer and a new Rotel integrated amp. Excellent soundstage and definition in the midrange especially. I hear nuances in the music I never heard before. Couldn't justify $1200 more for the 705S3 nor did my partner like the look of the tweeter on top - and from what I have read, a minimal improvement. I also love Crutchfield's 60 day return policy - I had first tried KEFs but much prefer these!
Pros: Great midrange clarity and soundstage. Excellent build and finish quality.
Cons: None at this point. Some may want the black grain finish as an option
