Bowers & Wilkins DB4S

Great addition to my vintage B&W CDM 9NTs mains in a stereo format. The bass also doubles as a LFE input to my home theater, improving the 9.1 sound. The sub was easy to set up using the App, 10 minutes after unboxing.

Wood finish will not match the new "Mocha" finish.
Thomas from Hialeah, FL on 5/15/2024
I thought this would pair well with my mocha B&W 705 S3's but the wood is different. A little disappointed on how it looks. The sound is exceptional.
Pros: Great sound, easy setup.
Cons: Does not match the current line-up of B&W 700 series finishes.

Excellent subwoofer for a reasonable price
Guest from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on 1/14/2024
Wonderful addition to the 703 S3 speakers. Easy to set up with the app. Fit and finish are excellent and it complements the tower speakers very well providing a rich audio experience. I bought all three speakers recently from Crutchfield along with a Marantz 40n integrated streaming amplifier.
Pros: Deep wonderful bass for listening to jazz. Pairs very nicely with the 703 S3 tower speakers.
Cons: Packaging was damaged.

Really adds depth and warmth to the sound. Was using a Marantz receiver and two B&W tower speakers before the subwoofer arrived. Sound was good, but a lot of emphasis on the high frequencies. The subwoofer does a great job of adding in the lows without overwhelming the highs.
Pros: Completes the sound, not overwhelming
Cons: Setup could be easier

XLR or RCA only
Horace from Douglasville, GA on 8/22/2022
Sound is great. The only thing is, I couldn't use the XLR because it required 2 cables. My AV Processor only has two outputs for XLR. One for left and right. Therefore, I could not use XLR and fact is, I wanted to use XLR only. If I read this is the documentation, didn't understand it. I was disappointed when I realized it doing setup. Subs sound great but I connected only one. Looks are very easy on the eyes too. The setup app is very, very easy to use. That's the one thing I did like about the setup process. Returned to swap for sub that has only one connection for XLR.
Pros: Sound is high end to say the least. What I expected from B&W. Sound is exceptionally good.
Cons: Requires two XLR cables.

I am very happy with this subwoofer. I expected it to sound great with tv and movies and I was surprised at the noticeable difference it makes listening to two channel stereo. It adds depth and spaciousness to classical, jazz, blues and folk. I experimented a little and decided on a crossover of 50 Hz to my B&W 704 speakers. I use my system more for music than movies and so I questioned the need for a sub. The space we have for a sub is limited and we didn't want something that overpowered our room either visually or sonically. I had measured and still was unsure how it would actually look. I was worried that it would be too large and after many conversations with Crutchfield advisor Jenny I finally decided to spend the extra on this sub and I am so happy that I did. Thank you Crutchfield and Jenny!
Pros: great with music

Just What I Wanted
Bert from Galveston, TX on 4/27/2022
I am very happy with this speaker. I bought it to provide a bit of low end boost to my old B&W 804N's that I bought back in the mid-aughts. And it does exactly that in a very transparent way. I don't even notice it until I play something with a punchy low end. It handles big drums and deep bass chords cleanly and is a great match for the little Nautiluses.

DB4S SubWoofer Pair
Crutchfield customer from Sequim, WA on 11/9/2020
Very pleased with the addition to my SoundLab electrostatic speakers. Found the use of the iPhone application to be reasonably direct and functional. I found it necessary to power and adjust one Subwoofer at a time . The resulting sound is full and has depth for my classical library and vocals from Paul Simon to Jennifer Warnes. Very happy!
Pros: Checks all my boxes
Cons: None

Love it. Put together with B&W speakers and NAD C368 purchased from Crutchfield too. My speakers are 16-year-old B&W 602s which still sounds as good as the day I purchased them. You will be pleased if you are looking for a high performing 10" sub.
Pros: Tight base and response well.
Cons: Finish is so shinny. Outshines everything else in my office. See pic from my office :)

Dissatisfaction = none. Delivers exactly what you need for your home surround sound system. In-app adjustments are a huge plus.
Pros: In-app adjustments. Delivers quality lows, as promised. Gorgeous to look at.
Cons: Not compact, if some of you are thinking it is.

I love this subwoofer!! Not only is it real powerful but it also goes real low! At first I was skeptical about a single 10" sub reaching 10 hz without the aid of a passive radiator or a port, but I ended up eating my hat on this one. It really exceeded my expectations on sound quality and power. I know the only way to control it is through an app but l had no trouble with it. Another thing great about this sub is it's physical size. It fits really well in my room and the magnetic grill is a nice feature. This sub would fit pretty well in a corner or under a table and because of the app control you wouldn't need to worry about crawling behind it to turn the volume up and down. As for it's physical appearance it is one handsome sub! I got to hand it to B&W! They hit the winning home run at the world sires with this sub! I am going to save up for a pair of B&W tower speakers next.
Pros: Power, size, appearance, sound quality, build quality and in my opinion the app control.
Cons: No cons for me. Other people might not like the fact that it can only be controlled by the app

Awesome sound paired with Denon 4500h receiver and B&W 703 S2 towers and B&W 1000 watt powered sub. The low voices in movies come out clear as day even at low volume. The entire set up rocks our huge family room just like at the theater. Very deep clear base and rattles the wall behind it.
Pros: Very deep base
Cons: Very pricey The app controlled auto tuning Didn't activate any base. Once I changed the settings manually this beast came to life.
