Product Research

Features

5 Gigabit Ethernet Ports: The Linksys SE3008 is equipped with 8 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports. You can connect up to 8 Ethernet network devices such as computers, storage, gaming devices, and printers. You can also cascade other networking devices like a switch or router to further expand your network.

Network Standards: The Linksys SE3008 switch is compliant with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3x, 802.3ab, and 802.3az standards.

Auto-Sensing: The Auto-sensing Ethernet ports adjust to maximize data flow rates for 10/100/1000 Mbps.

Quality of Service (QoS): Quality of Service (QoS) is used to set up priority and attention to specific devices, services or applications within the network through the router, so that the maximum amount of available throughput and speed can be used for better audio and video streaming.

Internet Pass-Through: If the switch is connected to a router, computers connected to the switch will have Internet access. Only routers or modems with DHCP capabilities can allow sharing of Internet connection between computers.

Power-Saving Features: Innovative features reduce power usage for unused ports and short cable runs, while an on/off switch allows you to disable LED indicator lights.

Power Requirements: The Linksys SE3008 comes with an external power supply (100-240V ~ 50/60Hz) that will need to plugged into AC wall outlet or surge protector.

Mounting Options: The Linksys SE3008 can be placed on a table top using the included self-adhesive rubber pads or mounted to the wall using its integrated keyhole slots and the included mounting screws. The rubber feet add 0.125" to the overall height of the Ethernet switch.

Q
Will this switch work for gaming ??? Or should I look for something more specific?? It should work just same??

I guess it depends on what all you're trying to do. I have my Xbox and TV and receiver and DVD player all connected into my switch with no problems. It provides better consistent speeds than wireless and my son has never had any issues playing his Xbox online with friends. Hope that helps.

Yes. As long as your internet speed from your ISP is good, this switch can handle it. I have 2 of these switches. I am very happy with it.

Q
Silly question I suppose, but... Aren't you only able to connect 7 devices to this 8-port switch, since one of the ports is connected to the modem/router??

Yes, that is correct, one port is an input from your modem/router or other switch. The other 7 are all available.
