Q
Can this surge continue giving power wen the lights goes out?
sheyshey  Sep 12, 2024

A
If you are asking about it being possible for this unit to work when the Protection, EVA, and power lights no longer light up, then yes it is possible that the unit may still work. Its also possible that the unit may not be functioning properly when any of those lights no longer turn on. If you have a unit where the lights are not coming on, I recommend contacting technical support to troubleshoot the unit. Gear purchased from us comes with lifetime technical support and their toll free phone number can be found on the order invoice.

Is this a line conditioner?

Works great for me. I used to get noise in my stereo when I washed my clothes. Doesn't happen anymore. Wonderful product. I recommend it.

A
Yes, it is a limited line conditioner by providing filtering for radio frequency and electromagnetic interference. It's main function remains surge and over-voltage protection.
joseph  Mar 07, 2021
A
No, just a fancy surge protector. The Extreme Voltage Shutoff built in to this unit will shut everything down if the incoming voltage is too high or too low but it is not an actual conditioner.
timothy  Mar 06, 2021
A
No. This is a surge protector. That's all it does.

Q
Hi there, can I connect a full size refrigerator to this surge protector?

Although this is a good surge protector for electronics, I would not use it for any large appliances.
andrew j  Feb 10, 2020
A
I see no reason why it couldn't be used to protect any appliance (assuming, of course, the appliance has a standard plug).

I think so, if the refrigerator motor, which cuts on and off all day, does not trigger a sacrificial switch, supposing this device uses sacrificial switches. If it does, you can probably use up all of the device's sacrificial switches in a short amount of time, making the entire device useless, and offering no more protection. But, this device warns you if they are finally all used up, from what I can tell. So, protecting refrigerators may not work in the long run, if the cycling refrigerator motor trips the device on its own. This model has the EVS switch, which is why I bought this model. A very large surge from the outside, will be intercepted by the EVS switch, protecting not only the refrigerator, but also the surge protector itself. I am using another brand with similar features on my gas range, to protect its control board, which I was forced to install after I had to replace my older gas range, which was damaged in a nearby lighting strike. But, the surge protector sits on the kitchen counter, next to the gas range, so I can keep an eye on the protection-on indicator. I put a smaller protection device on my garage door opener, but need to upgrade to this device (I bought two) for better protection on that circuit, when I get the chance. Check with Crutchfield about the sacrificial switch part of this, but I think that they are used here. If not, that is even better.

Q
WILL THE SS-6B PRO BE COMPATIBLE IN AN OLDER HOUSE THAT STILL HAS A TWO-WIRE (NO SEPARATE GROUND WIRE) ELECTRICAL SYSTEM?
john h  Oct 13, 2019
1 answer
A
Hi John, thank you for your question. The Furman SS-6B PRO should only be connected to a 120 VAC, 60Hz, grounded electrical outlet, we would not recommend using this product in a two-wire electrical system.
