Audioengine S6
Hunter from Minneapolis, MN on 5/14/2025
Sounds great so far. I paired this sub with my Audioengine A2+ for my computer audio set up. I have had the A2+ for over a year and the A6 really fills out the sound. I have been listening for two days now and I am very happy with the tight bass and clean sound from the A6. I am still playing with crossover settings and volume but I am very impressed with the sound. Impressed, not surprised. I am becoming a loyal fan of Audioengine. Great service from Crutchfield, as usual.

Audioengine S6
Crutchfield customer from New Florence, PA on 2/24/2025
It has been excellent, for its intended purpose. Which is on a small Denon desktop unit, in my bedroom. The build quality seems to be very good for the price; it has multiple inputs, separate volume and crossover controls. The small size fits the bedroom very well. It really lets the Denon sound as it should. Overall, I'm well pleased with the unit.
Pros: Good build quality. Full featured for its price point. Good performance for its compact size. Came well packaged.
Cons: None at this time.

CHRIS from MI on 12/21/2024
VERY musical and sufficiently deep for all but hip-hop bassy music. Highest praise. Sufficient for even mid-large rooms at reasonable volumes.
Pros: Great value and performance.
Cons: Not for home theatre noise / true sub explosions, etc. (NA for me...)

Very nice little subwoofer.
Derek Scott from LENOIR CITY, TN on 10/20/2024
I bought this thinking it would maybe help a little bit. I own some Spendor s20 speakers with this sub, they make the speakers sound in a way I never thought possible. I never realized what a small powered sub could do!! Incredible sound!!!

King of Apartment acceptable subwoofers
Carsten from SPOKANE, WA on 6/16/2024
I currently have a 11x10 I use for gaming. I wanted a little more thump with my Vestia's but being in an apartment leaves me stumped because typical ported subwoofers are way too much and since they are on the floor, they resonate a lot more and make your neighbors mad. I bought this since I want to keep noise complaints down but have premium sound. It sits on my desk, and does not resonate anywhere near as much as a typical sub does. I can walk outside of my bedroom, close the door and go into the living room and hear only the slightest muffling from the sound at playing volume. This speaker is perfect for those that want to have thump and help give definition in their sound without shaking your neighbors walls. Absolutely love it.
Pros: Great sound quality, less resonance since it's sealed. Build quality is good as well.
Cons: Being only a 6.5 driver, it will not play lows loud. Peaks at 40hz. But this isn't marketed as a sub that shakes the room with 28hz capability.

Small sub with a wallop!
Rex from Pierre, SD on 12/8/2023
I added this subwoofer to a Denon cd player/receiver and a pair of Polk Audo ES15 bookshelf speakers. I used this subwoofer because of its small size and I wanted to fit the system onto a bookshelf. The system sounds just great! The sub adds such a terrific depth of sound. I did have a little difficulty connecting the sub at first because of my own lack of experience using them. But a phone call to a Crutchfield Representative quickly solved my problem. Once I hooked it up correctly, it sounded just great! Big thumbs up!

A sub not a hoagie
Patrick from West Chester, PA on 11/28/2023
To be honest I have not set up my new sub but I feel at least I can state this. I love the size of the sub and the look. I had return a sub last year because living in a small apartment it was the size of a small piece of furniture and you know the saying with a small apartment with a new piece coming in an old has to leave. Looking forward to hearing how the sounds of this little guy produces.
Pros: Size and looks

Office System
Kevin from Los Angeles, CA on 10/24/2023
For a near field desk set up with Audioengine A3's, this sub works very well. They all took a bit of time to break in, but now sound great. Great set up if you're looking for an easy office system.
Pros: Good sound at a great price.
Cons: The headphone jack on the A3's has a little noise. Trying to trace the issue.

Nice subwoofer for the size and price. I added this to a bookshelf system and am satisfied with the build and sound quality. I'm using it in a small office but it could easily be used on a larger system. The standby feature seems to work well. Good customer support from Crutchfield too.
Pros: Small size, good sound quality and build, versatile
Cons: None for the price

Great little sub
Bill from Waxhaw, NC on 4/23/2023
Solidly packed, hookup to Audioengine speakers was a breeze (1 cable). Initial impression was that it is on the small side, and I always thought bigger was better when it came to bass. But after connection, I noticed it has great low end extension and detail without being "boomy." Contrary to the frequency response spec, this sub seems to roll off very steeply at 40Hz and below. So don't expect it to work miracles with songs like "Live to Tell" by Madonna, which can easily extend below that. This sub won't rattle your windows, but if you're looking to add presence and a bit of punch to your speakers for not a lot of $$$, this could do it. Automatic standby appears to work very well when not in use, which is pretty cool. All in all, a great little sub.
Pros: Nice tight lows, auto standby feature
Cons: Crossover knob only has 5 hash marks from 40-190Hz so you have to tune by ear

I have the AudioEngine HD3 speakers and this A6 subwoofer was a great addition. It's small enough for a home office or bedroom and can remain on a desk if necessary. The bass is a big plus to the speakers I purchased 2 years ago.

Tight and Clean
Ryan from NORTH BALTIMORE, OH on 2/15/2022
Omg! Can't believe the amount of clean tight bass coming out of these small bad boys! I bought two for stereo subs hooked up to the new Emotiva Basx PT1. Really loving these for all kinds of music.
Pros: Small and gobs of clean tight bass
Cons: Maybe some different finishes

Solid, Clean, Punchy Bass
John from Glen Allen, VA on 2/10/2022
Wow. Solid, clean bass out of a box not much bigger than a few books on a shelf. It took but a few minutes to set up, and I have been enjoying the sound ever since. On my modern computer desk, I just had to shift a few books on to a different shelf, and the subwoofer fit right into the mix.
Pros: Small, compact, great sound, easy setup.
Cons: None.
