Installed the sub in my '97 Jeep Wrangler. Works very well. Plenty of bass now. It just fit under the rear seat. I really like the remote bass control knob. Highly recommended.

good choice for tight spaces!

Has good bass for the size and price. Compact size fits behind the seat of my 24 gladiator with room to spare. Won't rattle the windows but adds good punch to a system with no sub. Highly recommend!

The little speaker that could

Just some pro's I'll share: - fantastic construction and size. I can say it comfortably fits in my tiny ford ranger cab when nothing else does - incredible sound - correct your not going to be breaking class or buddy's wont here you from down the street, but this thing adds the perfect amount of bass so you can play all music The bass - so impressed by how much it does bump, but also get the crispness Overall, this is an EASY addition to any car/truck. Punches above its weight class

Got this for my wife's Mazda CX3 hatchback. I was blown away at how good it sounds for the price! It fills out the lackluster stock sound perfectly after also upgrading the door speakers. Would not hesitate to recommend this to family and friends. I'll be getting one to put in my new F150 as well. Great product!

This sub is great for the price. In conjunction with two new front Kicker speakers, and two new soundbar Kicker speakers in my 2024 stock JL Wrangler stereo, this greatly improved my music listening enjoyment. However, you MUST be aware that you may very well require the remote power, even though the product is advertised to not require it if connected/tapped to the vehicle's existing speaker circuits. The sub would not work without the remote power wire. Cost me several hours of my life troubleshooting and a call with tech support, and then running a new wire for power. I wish Crutchfield would apply a more serious disclaimer here.

Garbage. Wont fit in a tacoma 3rd gen

This is a brick. It wont fit under any front seat and Its too small for the rear seats. Dont buy the extras none of the RCa or other gear is needed. I feel like Crutchfield is slipping. I plan to return 3 purchases.

Lots of bass and easy to install.

Pretty happy with the SO subwoofer. I went from basically no bass to all I want and more. Still playing with the settings on my receiver because I used the low level rear outputs to the sub so I'm worried that when I make adjustments to the rear I am adjusting the sub as well as the 4" x 10"s in the cab corners. I don't really have an distortion on the 4" x10"s so I think I'm alright. My 6" x 9" kickers showed up yesterday so when I get them installed I should have all the sound I'll ever need.

If you're holding back because your just not sure about a powered sub, like myself, just go for it! have to say this thing is sounding sooo much better than I anticipated! I've never heard a powered sub before and was real skeptical of them. Spent quite a bit of time reading reviews about this one. So when I got the email from Crutchfield saying this was on sale, I went for it. So happy I did! Night and day difference in sound! No, it doesn't hit like a box and amp, but it doesn't take up all the space either! Fits under passenger seat easily in my 90 Camry, and gives quite the vibration to whoever's accompanying me. Also my first purchase from Crutchfield. As an avid music fan, I'll be making more purchases from them in the future! Thank you so much for all the info your company provides too! 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

Brings the thunder!

Bought this to round out the upgrades to a stock head unit system in my 15 Mazda6 Touring (non-Bose). After replacing all six speakers with Kicker, the lack of real bass became more apparent. I opted to have this professionally installed and don't regret that decision at all. The shop neglected to check the audio settings on the head unit after the install, so my first listen was disappointing. After restoring my chosen settings, this small sub immediately redeemed itself! The sound this unit produces is truly amazing given its size, my favorite music finally has some THUNDER. Highly recommend this sub

Nice lil-sub

Nice lil-sub, I was looking for a subwoofer/amp package that would round out my sys. Paired this with a Kenwood Excelon KMM-X705, Kenwood KFC1686PS 6" in the doors and Kicker 48CSC354 6" in the B pillars of a single cab PU although this sub is not ground pounding, however for an 8" it really adds a good bump! Prefect for my liking!

Great compact subwoofer!

This is a great compact subwoofer. I was looking to add more bass and this filled that need. With the built in amp, you have the ability to dial in the sound. I also like the remote level control so you can adjust the bass level easily. This subwoofer was a great addition to my stereo in the truck.

Just installed yesterday. What little bit I listened to it, I was impressed with the quality of sound it produced. I installed it in a Jeep Wrangler and it is more than enough for the Jeep. Install took a little while, but I wasn't in a big rush and was taking my time. It was easy to install though.

Works, but not without issues.

For the price this is a decent sub. No fuss with wiring, but plan to use the remote wire even with speaker inputs. Mine didn't power up like it should, so I had to switch to the remote wire. For colder regions in the north, this thing doesn't play in the cold. It seems that below -5c/23f The woofer freezes, and until the interior of the vehicle warms up, you're left wondering if the unit is powered on. Overall it gets a 'meh' from me. Would not recommend.

No Instructions

I bought it and I have no knowledge on how to install it or anything for that matter. I bought speakers and a new radio with a pre wired harness, it could not have been easier to install with the instructions. This though came with zero instructions and tech support was dismissive of my inquiry on how to install " Look for a hole and run the wire", huh ? I have no idea how it sounds or if it is worth the money because I never installed it and I am returning it. I guess I have to go to the local big box store for the install of one of theirs. I'm so disappointed in Crutchfield. A customer for over 35 years, oh well.

Good under-seat sub with great customer service

Have had this in my truck for little under 5 years now. The first one that I ordered died after about three years, luckily it was still under warranty. Crutchfield didn't give me any hassle and immediately sent me a replacement! Bass is decent, you're not going to be shaking the neighboring cars' windows but it gives a punch where it's needed. Shines in country and rock music, shows some weakness in hip-hop in respect to 808's.

Loved it while it workes

Purchased in 2020. Started having problems a few months ago and just got around to calling in. Out of warranty but the tech told me there are notes that there is a known deflect with remote. Everything else I bought around that time for the same install is working great but now I'm expected to buy a whole new sub. I'd give it 5 stars while it worked but can only give one now that it's basically a doorstop

JUST RIGHT!

Th SO can only be described as "just right". I added this to my aftermarket stereo in my 89 Saab 900 convertible for one reason. I didn't want anyone to know it was there. It ticks nicely under the front seat which made installing it simple. It adds just the right amount of low end with no distortion. It has exceeded my expectations for the price.

Sounds great, Jeep finally sounds good!

purchased from crutchfield from scratch & dent, as well as a power cable kit, rca adapter & rca cables. Hooked up to wife's 2024 jeep sahara unlimited, works great. Jeep from factory had decent head unit, but no bass, just sounded tinny. This unit fit perfectly under driver seat, routed speaker cables under seats & to passenger door column cleanly (access speaker connections in passenger rear door pillar), and Power & trigger wire through grommet in firewall in driver footwell. Very happy with fit under seat, as well as the overall improvement in sound. Sub has made such a huge difference - before it was just underwhelming, no bass at all. Now drums & bass lines are crisp, and can even rattle mirrors a bit. It isn't the same as a custom box with 2 10 inch subs, but it's great for what we needed. Now we can feel the bass, Linkin Park, Eminem, Metallica, etc all finally sound like they should, before we just kept thinking - this system is terrible! Now we love it - still tinkering with the gain on the bass, it is nice to have the remote controller so we can adjust on the fly while driving.

This thing is awesome! Easily fits under the seat so it doesn't take up room in my pickup cab, but plenty of quality power when the song calls for it. It also works great turned down to just add some bottom and round out the system.

PERFECT!!!!

I will admit it took me two times to get the harnesses wired correctly... This is the best sounding subwoofer I have ever owned. There is absolutely no rattle, it is not overpowering, my wife even says it is enough! The addition of the bass selection nob was perfect. If it is just me it is at 100, when it is my whole family, and the dog, it is at 0. I can still hear the speaker. Would definitely recommend! Will recommend! I kept the sticker and put it on one of my notebooks, as a reminder to finish the project. Very Happy!

Thumping under the seat

Usually don't give out 5 starts for anything but i've had one of these under the front seat of 2 different cars and it rocks in both. Had and '03 Tacoma extra cab and it really thumped in there, but even under the front seat on a 2007 Highlander it performs nearly as well. Put the first one into the Tacoma in 2008, dunno where that truck is now. Tried a common name brand powered sub of a similar design in the Highlander first, it sounded bad and eventually blew its voice coil. Decided to lick my wounds and go back to this reliable sub. The B-8PTD is a no frills device that does the job, and the remote actually works well. This sub fit under the front passenger seats of each of these vehicles fine. Guessing it will fit under most front seats, which imo is better than taking up cargo space to add some bass.

Couldn't get it to work with speaker inputs

2020 Toyota Tacoma Non JBL System with Factory Radio. I wasn't able to get the subwoofer to work with my factory radio signal. I tried sending signal through the factory rear speakers, and through an output from a 4 channel amp through the rear speaker outputs. Not sure what caused the issue, but i returned the sub and plan to get a smaller amp to fit better in the back of my truck. The width of the sub was too wide to fit flush in the back section of my double cab.

Add some bass to your Miata

2007 MX-5 Miata Grand Touring with the Bose sound system. l've already replaced the stock head unit with a double-din unit with Apple CarPlay but the speakers are lacking in bass that will thump let alone fill in the music. If you install a standard subwoofer in the trunk you'll lose much of what little trunk space there is (and may be difficult to hear when the top is down, so an in-cabin option is called for. Also, the Miata seats have little room underneath, so I needed something that could be installed behind my seat and wouldn't take too much space. The B-8PTD has worked out perfectly! It lies horizontally behind the driver's seat, so the adjustment knobs face outward towards the drivers door and with a height of only 3 1/8", the drivers seat is only 1 click away from being as far back as possible. It sounds great and thumps my back. The wired control knob is mounted on the drivers side of the center console and provides a large amount of subwoofer volume control. If you're looking for good, solid bass and you have a limited amount of space, this sub is a fantastic option!

Fixed an F 150's crap system.

This was one of the few subs that would fit behind my 2024 F150 rear seat. At 8 inches, thin, lightweight, and relatively inexpensive, it has met my expectations. It's limited in its range and depth, but it helped correct Fords horrible Bang & Olufson 8 speaker "upgraded" system. Ford still sells $70K trucks with $2 radios - but now they stamp Bang & Ulifson on them. Pathetic.

Sounds like garbage

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I bought this to compliment my factory door speakers. I just want a little more thump and maybe some sustain a hair lower than my door speakers. While this thumps harder my factory speakers actually sound better than this. It seems to peak at around 80hz, thats the only place it sounds good. Anything above that it's very muddy sounding and falls off rapidly below that. I got this installed with speaker level inputs, had to turn the gain almost all the way up to get usable output. Then I bought the lc2i, I can run it with much lower gain thanks to the LOC but it still sounds terrible.

Think modern factory built in sub and you want be disappointed.

SO B-8PTD is better than I expected for the price. If you are looking to shake the car look elsewhere but if you are looking for something similar to the factory installed subs that come in many modern vehicles this is what you want. It adds in the lows when I am driving my Jeep Wrangler with the top off but even if I tried wouldn't annoy the neighbors. Why not 5 stars? To be honest if 5 stars is truly exceptional then throw in the wire need for install into this all in one kit.

My 2004 Jeep TJ Rubicon came from the factory with a small amplifier and subwoofer built into the console. When I purchased it in 2017 the subwoofer was not working so I replaced the speaker hoping (to no avail) that it was the problem. Later, I took the Jeep to a brick and mortar auto audio store and the technician informed me that the factory amplifier was bad. Additional bad news was that Mopar has discontinued the part and it was no longer available. He could not identify a small amplifier that would fit inside the console and power the replacement speaker and basically he gave up. I gave up my search for a couple of years until I ran across the Sound Ordinance B-8PTD, compact, powered subwoofer which I recently purchased. I installed it under the driver's seat where it fit perfectly. I also purchased the wiring kit which I highly recommend. It came with all of the wire, terminals, zip ties, fuse block, etc. and it definitely made the installation a breeze. If you use your Jeep in deep water or mud bogging, you might be wise to come up with a different mounting location. Just a thought..... The sound is very impressive and made a huge overall improvement to the sound quality of my Kenwood head unit.

I wouldn't buy this for $5. I followed all of the instructions and played with the settings extensively, and it still sounded hollow and echoed. If dollar tree made a subwoofer, this would be it. Save your time and just get the JBL Basspro Nano.

Awesome tech help

I had issues getting sound due to my pioneer deck. I talked to a phone tech and he was awesome in helping me troubleshoot and find a fix. This is exactly what I needed under the rear seat in my old toy Jeep. It is not going to rattle the glass, but it gives some punch to what I have.

Dead in 18 months.

Dead in 18 months. Amplifier blown according to local stereo shop. Not worth it. I have amps and speakers that are 20 years old that still work fine. Really disappointed. This was not abused either!

Very surprised! Single cab truck install/replacement. I already had 99% of the work done from a previous install, so this was plug and play. It sounds great. Does exactly what I wanted/needed. Has a good punch, decent mid, moderate low end, but it is good enough. Very pleases and may buy another!

Great purchase as long as you understand what it can do

It is what it is and does it very well, if you are thinking I need a sub and want windows to rattle this isn't at all for you. If your stock or aftermarket speakers are running off your deck or a small 25x4 amp AND you want to fill in the low end this will 100%% be for you. Just dial it in so when you crank it there is no distortion! With a 3 year warranty, tech support and at this price point it's close to a home run. I replaced a kenwood ks-11 which worked good this was better in almost every way! Just realize this is an 8 inch sub in a compact setup, don't buy it if you are looking for BOOM. Mine is installed in a 2016 wrangler under the driver seat even top down I am More than happy. I may be hesitant to put this in the trunk unless it's a hatch id want it up front I think.

2025 Chevy Trax - Good enough, brings it to life.

Didn't know what to expect from this hideaway sub...always ran traditional subs. Think of how the bass sounds in a vehicle with Bose, it's an upgraded version of that. Sounds good for the application in wife's Trax, provides good balance and upgraded sound for sure. The bass isn't a thumping bass like you'd get from your typical sub box and amp combo. I used this hideaway sub in combination with Rockford phosgate 3 way 6.5" off her factory radio (no separate amp for door speakers). I have the gain only set halfway and sub under her passenger seat, any higher and it's too overpowering. If you moved it to the back of an SUV you could crank it up a lil more but the higher the gain the less desirable it sounded to me under the passenger seat of a small SUV (bass knob helps). Fitment was perfect, a little tight with RCAs id recommend using 90 degree RCA ends into the sub as it would help if tight on space. All in all good sub/lows addition, id buy it again.

So far it has been more than I needed. I just needed something to add bass to my 2014 JKU and this has been great. Easy install along with Crutchfield's wiring kit and patch cables. For my taste I actually had to reduce the sub through my JVC head unit but that is due to preference. It's punchy and deep enough for me, definitely glad I went with this instead of a full sub and box.

Just right for my application under the back seat of a truck. Fills the lows but not going to rattle your windows, which is all I wanted. A little too tall to fit under driver or passenger seat and mounting options are limited. I ended up just installing Velcro to keep it secure to the vehicle carpeting. Sn

Fills in the bass I was missing

If you want thundering, window shaking, teeth rattling bass, then you probably already know this isn't what you need. But my system completely lacked bass and had no low end at all. I just needed something compact that would fit behind the rear seat in the truck cab and fill out that missing bottom end with some smooth lows and a little punch. This unit does exactly what I need.

With a factory set up this is a nice plus! Fills the spectrum a bit and delivers quality notes with knobs adjusted according to your system. Nice smooth lower frequency carry. Keep the gain lower and you won't regret it!

Wow, I was a little skeptical that I could get a good bass sound from an 8" woofer but the B-8TD delivered. Put it under the back seat in my Chevy Silverado and had to turn it down. Great product and easy install.

I think that this is better than nothing. But it wasn't what I was expecting. The price isn't bad, but I just wasn't impressed. I have other subwoofers this size with much better sound

OK, not much in lowest frequencies

Should have read the specifications better before purchasing. Easy to install, overall good sound quality, but low frequencies are not there. My own fault for not looking closely enough to see the bottom of the range on this unit is 40Hz. For many types of music it is very good, but not for anything with lower frequency bass. Good for the price, good for most Rock and Country music. I do notice the missing low frequencies in many songs which is enough for me to want to change to something else.

Sounds great, but auto on/off didn't function for me

Installed under the passenger seat in my 2018 Crosstrek to help fill in the weak bass (even after upgrading the stock speakers). It performs well and I would have given it 5 starts except that the audio from my head unit wouldn't trigger the on/off switch when in Auto mode, and I was planning on that convenience. The first technician I spoke with didn't realize this is a common issue and sent a replacement, but after I tried the replacement the 2nd tech I spoke with said it's not uncommon. I had to run a separate wire to power the switch (from the cigarette lighter in the center console). Performs as described and now I'm hearing the full audio spectrum (and it could be pretty loud if that's what I wanted). I'm happy with how I am able to control the sound (cutoff, bass gain, phase, remote volume switch combined with the bass volume in the head unit) and it is out-of-sight under the seat. I wonder how it would compare to having installed an amp with a good equalizer instead, but those were more expensive. I love Crutchfield, their tech support, and their ability to provide instructions and kits to fit different cars. I'll be back for my next upgrade.

Simple and inexpensive way to add some bass.

It's a good little sub. I got a great deal on a scratch and dent unit. ( I didn't see a scratch or dent on it ) I listen to hard rock so I don't need to turn it up very much, it depends on the song or the band. Some have more bass than others. So I really like the remote level adjuster knob. It sits right next to me so I can raise or lower the level as needed. Just a heads up, if you are tapping into your speakers instead of rca cables. You will need to go ahead and connect a switched hot wire to the remote connector even though they say it's not necessary. It certainly was for me.

Better than expected for a compact 8

I really wasn't expecting much, just a little more bass than the speakers in my truck could produce. This small 8 does a great job of that. My stereo has a jvc head unit and front speakers with some off brand in the back. It has brought it to life. Will replace the rearspeakers soon to match the front but I now have the bass I was missing. Notvrattle you're teeth loud but I don't crank it much at my age.

High hopes...

Unfortunately, my new S/O sub only works sporadically. It was professionally installed and I've maxed out the gain (to increase signal input supposedly) to see if that helps and still no luck. It seems to come back on when I turn the stereo off and on again after the truck's been running awhile, but it doesn't come on after a cold start (even though the power indicator light on the SW is on). I will be going back to the stereo shop when I get the chance to see what they can do, but I'm not optimistic considering there were several reviewers which said they had a similar experience. Too bad, because when it was running it really livened up the whole audio experience.

Great option for those on a budget

I purchased this subwoofer for my 2002 Saturn SL2 to enhance the low end on my stock sound system. This subwoofer has a lot more power than i expected it would! It provided a much-needed thump, and it was easy to install with my aftermarket head unit. For my application i installed it under the driver's seat as i wanted to maintain trunk space. Keep in mind if you are installing this in a 3rd gen Saturn s-series car specifically under the front seat it is an extremely tight fit. Other than that, i am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for more bass! Just What I Needed!

Puts out a really good amount of bass for such a small footprint. I put it under the drivers seat in my 2016 4Runner and it was just what I needed to round out my Rockford Fosgate speaker replacements. The difference between the factory setup and my system now is night and day. Very easy install if you know what you're doing. Took about an hour to get everything going.

This was a home run for my application. I have a Jensen head unit and 100W amp with two 6x9 triaxial speakers and two 6 inch mid range. The system was working properly but the performance in my 1970s sports car was mediocre due to relatively loud cabin noise in the old car. This subwoofer/amp combo really woke up the sound. Also super easy to install. For this application and for the money, this was the missing piece to give me a great system on a budget. If you want the really high performance competition stuff, this probably isn't the right choice.

Great Sound for Budget

I was a bit apprehensive when deciding to include a powered subwoofer for my 2011 F150. My F150 is a base model XLT with factory radio. I had already upgraded all four speakers with Infinity Reference speakers from Crutchfield. I am happy with this subwoofer. Bass is not vibrating and there is enough bass pop. I installed with factory radio and used a high low converter. Great sound!

Great snall sub

I installed this in my 1992 F-150 standard cab. It is mounted vertically behind the seat. I am 60:years old and I don't want a huge amount of bass just good tight bass with some punch. This unit has all that. I like the controller which works very well and it clicks when you adjust the knob which makes it easier to find tune the bass. I am buying another today.
