Features

Power Ratings: The Sound Ordnance M350-1 is a Class D mono subwoofer amplifier with an RMS power rating of 290 watts into 4 ohms and 350 watts into 2 ohms.

Crossovers: The built-in low-pass crossover is continuously variable from 35 to 150 Hz and the slope is 12dB per octave. Because this is a subwoofer amp, the crossover is always engaged.

Sub Sonic Filter: The frequencies that cannot be reproduced by a subwoofer waste amplifier power and can cause damage to speakers. The sub sonic filter, variable from 15 Hz to 55 Hz, removes the signal below the setting to improve the performance of the speakers by eliminating distortion.

Bass Boost: The Bass EQ (bass boost) is continuously variable from 0 to +18 dB and is centered at 45 Hz.

LED Indicators: There are two LED indicators: a green LED that illuminates when the amp is powered on, and a red LED that illuminates when the amplifier is in protect mode due to overheating or a short circuit in the speaker wire.

Wired Remote: The included wired remote allows you to control the output level of the amplifier from the front of your vehicle. The wired remote can be mounted under your dash and the supplied 16' cable, with RJ-25 phone plugs at each end, connects the remote to the amplifier. The remote's dimensions are approximately:

  • Width: 1-5/8" (2-5/8 including mounting flanges)
  • Height: 7/8"
  • Depth: 1-1/2" (2-1/8" including knob and cable)

Fan Cooled: A thermally-activated fan on the bottom of the amp helps cool the internal components.

Connections

Power Connections: The power and ground connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. (An 8-gauge amplifier wiring kit is recommended.) The remote turn-on terminal is also a set screw terminal that will accept up to 8-gauge wire. A 3mm Allen wrench is required to tighten/loosen the terminals (included).

Speaker Connections: The speaker output is a screw terminal that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire.

Signal Inputs: The amplifier has a pair of stereo RCA inputs.

Remote: Connect the included wired remote to the RJ-25 port on the amplifier.

Q
Can this amp power two Rockford Fosgate R2D2-10 Prime R2 Series 10" subwoofer with dual 2-ohm voice coils?
mike  Oct 26, 2023
1 answer
A
Absolutely Mike, and it would be a pretty solid match. With dual subwoofers, you can use the dual 2-ohm voice coils in a series/parallel wiring configuration to show 2-ohms to the Sound Ordnance m350-1 amp delivering 350-watts out of a potential 500-watts RMS maximum that the two Rockford Fosgate subwoofers can handle. This would provide great sound without overpowering the subwoofers. If you need a diagram for wiring correctly, you can use our Subwoofer wiring guide in the link below! https://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html

This Sound Ordnance mono amp could power those JBL subs. It's not a direct power match however, it's going to underdrive them. If you want look at models that are going to be a more direct match we have experts available at 800.324.9695 so please give us a call so we can find the perfect set up for you!

Q
How true is the wattage? Is it CEA-2006 compliant?
carlos  Dec 07, 2022
1 answer
A
This sweet Sound Ordnance M350-1 amp is not CEA-2006 compliant, Carlos. That being said, this is our own in-house brand and we stand by our gear! We make these specifically to provide major bang for the buck, and if you aren't satisfied you can return it within your 60-day guarantee for a full refund if you are not impressed with the performance. Personally, I think this is one of the best mono amps out for the price.

Q
How do I set this up for a single 4ohm sub? Do I just hook it in and it automatically puts out 2 or 4 ohm for whatever the sub is?
james fremont  May 06, 2022
1 answer
A
The power output on the amp is determined by the load your sub/s present. The amp is rated for 290 watts at 4-ohms. You'll wire your single voice coil 4-ohm sub like this: https://images.crutchfieldonline.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/1SVC_4-ohm_mono.jpg

Q
if I only have one RCA sub out from the receiver how do I power both channels of the amp? I plan on running a two ohm sub.
z money  Oct 26, 2021
1 answer
A
RCA Y adapters can be used to split the single RCA output so that it can work with amps that have a pair of RCA inputs. Here are the ones we offer: https://www.crutchfield.com/g_719/RCA-Cables.html?tp=1694&fa=1#&nvpair=FFType|Y-adapter

Q
Would I need a line output converter to connect this amp to my stock stereo?
dylan  Aug 15, 2021
1 answer
A
Yes you would. No radio from factory has an output for a sub. Most if not all aftermarket radios do have an output for a sub, but to answer your question, yes, you'll need a line output converter.
thomas  Aug 15, 2021
Q
Has anyone put this on an amp dyno?
joseph  Jul 23, 2021
1 answer
A
Each amp is not individually tested to know that specific models output, but they are built to output at least the RMS watts listed in the specifications.

Q
Does the remote knob control the gain level or the bass eq level?
michael  Dec 26, 2020
3 answers
A
I adjust how much bass gain I want, through my truck all from adjusting the knob. you can turn bass completely off or all the way up just by turning the knob after setting your amp.
justin  Dec 29, 2020
A
It controls the Gain. I would not recommend this amp to push a subwoofer larger than an 8". I returned mine because of the lack of power!
chip  Dec 29, 2020
A
yes it does, also depending on what kind of battery you have for your car you should buy an extra one and hook the amp/aux to that instead, trust me.
evan  Dec 29, 2020
Q
How do you use the subsonic filter? I want to shut it off, so turning it which way would accomplish this?
michael  Dec 25, 2020
1 answer
A
The subsonic filter cannot be turned off. The next best option is to set the filter to the lowest setting which is 15Hz and requires that the dial be turned counter clockwise as far as it will go.

Q
I own two JL Audio 10in. 10w0v3-4 and they are 300RMF @ 4ohms each. Can this Amp run my Subs at 4ohms ?If so, can I run both or just one of them?
bret  Dec 13, 2020
3 answers
A
Yes this Amp Rocks man..You will be amazed How Much power this little guy puts out..But Dont take it from Me It Speaks for itself..You wont be Disappointed...I love it..
armando  Dec 24, 2020
A
This amp would be ideal if you were only running 1 sub on the amp. The Sound Ordnance M350-1 outputs 290 watts rms at 4 ohms and a single JL Audio 10w0v3-4 sub can handle a total of 300 watts rms at 4 ohms. If you tried to run both subs in parallel at 2 ohms on this amp, they would only receive 350 watts rms split between both subs (175 watts rms each) when they really need closer to 600 watts rms total to perform the most efficiently. Two of the JL Audio 10w0v3-4 wired in parallel to 2 ohms on this amp would be a bit underpowered, potentially causing them to distort. An amp running at 600 watts rms at 2 ohms would be the best solution to wire the subs in parallel. If you need help finding the right amp, give us a call at 1-800-324-9695!
allison  Dec 23, 2020 (Staff)
A
This amp can run 4 or 2 ohms with no problem. You can connect them in parallel to make it 2 ohms and produce more power.

Q
does it work with a b-17?
trevor  Dec 09, 2020
1 answer
A
This amp is a close to being a perfect match. It outputs 40 watts more than the subs should get but is close enough to still work well as long as you avoid anything close to top volume levels.

Q
Will this work with the b- 24 sub box?
henry  Oct 22, 2020

A
Yes, my son loves it.

Q
Why is this only rated @ 350 with 2x30 amp fuses? Shouldn't this amp be more around 500 watts??
jay  Jul 21, 2020
4 answers
A
Even though i dont think its listed most companies double the output power for peak so this would be 350w rms and 700w peak at 2ohms. When measuring for a fuse you have to factor in the most power a product will be able to pull. In this case 700w divided by 14.4v would give you roughly 48.61amps plus some for crossover n preamp. Hope this helps.
bryan  Aug 10, 2020
A
Hi Jay. I own this amp and it works awesome running a single 10" sub. With electricity, watts are determined by the amps and volts, not the other way around. The two fuses is for redundancy purposes so I will explain the math using one 30 amp fuse. Amps x volts = watts. In this case, 30 amp fuse x 12 volts = 360 watts. That means it is fused to match the amperage rating of 350 watts at one channel. Hope this helps you.
justin  Aug 05, 2020
A
Jay J...forgot to add that was a PUNCH 12 P2. older model
lance  Aug 05, 2020
A
Jay J...you would be correct in that thinking if you did the math. 60A X 14.4V = 864 watts at 100% efficiency, but I think the avg is 80% so even at that math it would be rated at 691 watts. Im not sure if it is putting out over 600 watts at 1 ohms, but I know it is putting out more than 400 watts, as I killed a Rockford P2 dual 4 ohms on it. and the gains were set using a SMD DD1+ and crossover set with CC1+.
lance  Aug 05, 2020
Q
how would remote turn on work with this amp?
sean  Jul 03, 2020
3 answers
A
The remote turn on needs to b connected to a switched 12v wire for it to turn on. If you have an aftermarket radio there is a blue wire for this reason. If its factory radio you can easily find a wire in the car that turns on and off when the key is turned to accessory.
bryan  Jul 05, 2020
A
If you're referring to the remote line, it hooks up like any other amp
cody  Jul 03, 2020
A
Have to run remote wire from amp to head unit and connect to head unit remote wire. Usually blue. If connecting to factory radio you need to get a high/low adapter with a trigger to power amp

Q
Will this amp work as a replacement for my 03 mustang gt so I will be able to use aftermarket front door speakers?
kyle  Apr 08, 2020
2 answers
A
This is a mono-amp, meaning 1 channel. If you are talking about a Left / Right speaker setup, this would only produce sound for one channel. Typically this would be used for subwoofers either by a Sub out from the head unit or splicing into the Right and Left channel and plugging that into the amp, the output would be 1 channel.
michael  Apr 20, 2020
A
No this is a single channel sub woofer amp. You need a 2 or 4 channel amp
michael  Apr 20, 2020
Q
With the amp having only one set of outputs, how would you bridge to get 4 ohms?
christina  Oct 28, 2019
1 answer
A
You can not bridge that amp. The subwoofer(s) will dictate the impedance. You will either need to connect a single voice coil 4 ohm sub or something you can wire in series to 4 ohms. You can find a good chart in this article about all the different subwoofer impedance combinations: https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c290/learn/how-to-match-subwoofers-and-amplifiers.html
casey  Nov 11, 2019 (Staff)
Q
With the amp having only one set of outputs, how would you bridge to get 4 ohms?
christina  Oct 28, 2019
3 answers
A
I do not know of a way to bridged this amp into 4 ohms load. You could however connect a 4ohm sub but the output will only be 290 W. You will get 350 W with a 2 ohm sub!
jorge  Nov 08, 2019
A
The amp doesn't 'bridge' An amplifier outputs power based on the impedance ( or resistive load) presented to it. If you put a 2-ohm load on the amp, you can get 350 watts RMS, if you put a 4-ohm load on the amp you can get 290 watts RMS from the amp. To get 4-ohm power ratings, you need a 4 ohm sub.
thomas  Nov 08, 2019 (Staff)
A
The beat I figure is that the amp switches to 4ohms from internal circuitry. I have a sub with the capability of switching between either 2 or 4 ohms. The change in load requirements should make the amp switch to the proper impedance.
orelvis  Nov 07, 2019
Q
I already own this amp paired with the B-17 sub, my question is can I get the exact same amp/sub setup and daisy chain the amps together to push each B-17? Thanks!
walter  Mar 10, 2019
3 answers
A
But you can power a second b-17 if you wanted to or have the room for it
bryan  May 13, 2020
A
I am by no means an audio installer or genius. But my first guess would be to say absolutely no. Using two amps to power one speaker either in series or parallel is a big no no.
michael  Mar 19, 2019
A
I have 2 m-350's pushing 2 seperate subs but they are not chained together as there is no master/slave switch and there is no hole for RCA out. You will not be able to "daisy chain" the amps but you can still happily pick up the same amp and sub and wire it into the system, the only thing to make sure of is that you upgrade the fuse on the positive connections feeding the system, your battery will experience more amperage draw due to having a second amp and could heat the wire to a destructive level if it is too skinny or too short to handle the extra current your drawing. Best of luck! If i havent answered your question properly and you are still unsure of yourself cruthfeild will most likley contact you soon regarding my failed attempts :)

How loud is the cooling fan?
bill  Mar 24, 2018
4 answers
A
you do not hear it
perry  Apr 03, 2018
A
Not even noticeable when you have music playing. Powered up with no music I would compare it to a CPU fan, maybe a bit louder, but nothing intrusive and it's certainly nothing worry about when considering the product unless you're sensitive to a fan humming.
kyle  Apr 03, 2018
A
I have never heard the fan at all. I have it installed in the stock location of the 3000GT which is on a bracket underneath the front passenger seat. All of the material around it would deaden any noise it might create otherwise.
david  Apr 03, 2018

Q
What gauge wire would you recommend for running from the amp to the speaker?
thomas  Feb 11, 2018
2 answers
A
16ga is fine for up to 100watts and 2ohm X12FT(length of run) and 4ohm X24ft, in low voltage applications more wire strands is better, that is a wire with 40 strands is better than a wire with 20 strands.
anthony  Feb 19, 2018
A
I'm using 16g speaker wire which may be overkill
michael  Feb 12, 2018
Q
What is the max gauge power wire this will accept?
donald  Feb 06, 2017

A
The Sound Ordnance M350-1 uses set screw terminals for the power and ground connections which accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. I hope that helps!

Q
Does the amp use the L or R input RCA to transmit to the sub? I dont want to wire both channels.. whats the mono channel? normally its left.
shane  Nov 07, 2016
1 answer
A
Whichever channel you send from your head unit is the channel it will process. So for instance my head unit has a left right and sub RCA channel. I use the sub channel to this amp because it is powering my sub. Your head unit will have the Front channel, rear channel, and/or sub channel. If you only have front and rear, then use the rear channel and set your cross over appropriately and you'll be good to go.
wasey  Nov 07, 2016
Q
Where/how would you set the INPUT LEVEL on the amp when the receiver (KDC-X799) has its own level adjustment (-15/+15)?
jason  Aug 15, 2016
2 answers
A
Agreed with setting the sub out to zero but make sure all settings are set to zero or flat before setting the gains on any amplifiers. That includes any bass, treble, equalizer, and even level out settings. Once the gain/s are set then you can do your adjustments.
bryan  May 13, 2020
A
I would set the Kenwood to 0DB on that negative 15 to positive 15 adjustment then set your amplifier gains I believe that will give you the least distortion
dan  Aug 17, 2016
Q
Is the remote required for operation?
jason  Aug 15, 2016
4 answers
A
Nope. It's optional.
anthony  Aug 18, 2016
A
I don't believe you need to have the remote hooked up to use the amp you would just have to set the amplifier gain from wherever the amplifier is mounted instead of next to you or your seat.
dan  Aug 17, 2016
A
No
charles  Aug 16, 2016
A
I honestly can't say if it's required as I haven't run mine without it. I will say that I do use the remote more than I thought I would. Radio, satellite radio and streaming all have different audio levels, so as I change between them, I regularly adjust the remote to change the impact of the subwoofer. Sorry I couldn't answer your question directly.

You can run 2 subs but they together need to be compatible with the specs of this amp. So if you run two 4 ohm subs in series that'd give you your 2 ohms overall. Also the two subs could only be 175 watts rms max a piece (to accommodate the 350 watt output of the amp)

Q
Is this amp a good match for a 30 watt, 8 ohm sub?
maria  May 08, 2016
2 answers
A
It can be used to run a 30w 8ohm sub. Two ways to do it the first being doing it by ear. Basically listening for distortion. The second is using a multimeter which if you dont have one can be picked up for a low price. There are a ton of vids on youtube on how to do this but looking for a output voltage of 15.49v from the speaker outs.

Q
Would this amplifier be too much power for a JL Audio 8" W3V3-4 if the gain was set properly? JL Audio recommends 250 watts or less RMS for that driver but the options are limited to either 150 watts RMS or over 250 watts RMS at 4 ohm's and these are all rated at 14.4 volts and most charging systems are 13.8 volts so 14.4 is unrealistic. I have 160 watts RMS now and feel I need at least 200 watts RMS. Price, size, and power consumption is a consideration.
john  Apr 25, 2016
2 answers
A
Yes, with the gain set properly /lower. This is a good match. When selecting/matching speakers to amplifiers. You want to supply close to but not more than the the upper RMS rating of the speaker. For example a speaker with a operating range of 5-60watts RMS, you want to supply 45-60 watts for the best performance.
anthony  Apr 03, 2018
A
The Sound Ordnance 350-1 says it puts out 290 watts @ 4 ohms so you're probably safe using it for your subwoofer.
