Moving-coil design for high-definition sound

Vinyl lovers have long prized moving-coil cartridges for their clear, spacious sound. Compared to moving magnet designs, the Blue Point No. 3 Low's high-purity copper coils have less mass, which allows the stylus to track each record's grooves more accurately. This cartridge also boasts a nude-mounted, elliptical diamond stylus to minimize friction and wear on your treasured LPs, so you can enjoy them for a lifetime.

Note: We recommend using an MC-compatible external phono preamp with selectable or variable cartridge loading.

Q
High or low? Which is the better choice?

I had a blue point #2 ?high output and currently have a low output #3 on the way. Loved my #2 but it died. High output is more forgiving but a low output gives a little more detail. I wouldn't buy new equipment for a low output (you can run a high output with a MM input) but if your equipment can handle it go for the low output. Either way Sumiko is an excellent cartridge. Made in Japan.

Greetings DenverCrow, and thank you for your question. The better choice would depend on the equipment that you are using currently, or about to purchase. The High output acts like a MM cartridge and can be used with most phone inputs on stereo receivers, or with a MM only external phono preamp. Low output would be best for a supporting MC type input on an external preamp where the high output would not work on. Short answer, it depends on the supporting equipment.
