Product Research

Features

Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Harness: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-HRR-CH1 installation harness greatly simplifies the installation of the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module (sold separately) in select Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen vehicles when replacing your factory radio with an iDatalink Serial Port compatible head unit (can also be used with non-iDatalink compatible head units).

  • Vehicle Compatibility: Click here for a list of compatible Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles.
  • Radio Compatibility: Click here for a list of fully compatible aftermarket head units with an iDatalink Serial Port.

Note: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-HRR-CH1 installation harness requires the purchase of the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 (sold separately).

Head Unit Connection: The HRN-HRR-CH1 supports iDatalink's Direct T-Harnesses ((sold separately) for direct connection to select iDatalink Serial Port compatible head units, replacing the wiring harness that comes with your aftermarket stereo (some hardwiring may still be required). If connecting to an aftermarket head unit that does not support an iDatalink Direct T-Harness, you'll need to cut off and remove the 20-pin black connector from the HRN-HRR-CH1 harness and splice each wire directly to the aftermarket radio's corresponding wire.

Flashing Module via Weblink Desktop: The iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 will need to be loaded with correct firmware before installation. The included USB cable plugs into your computer and allows you to "flash" the Maestro RR with the appropriate firmware to prepare it for installation. Simply download Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac) onto your computer to access the appropriate firmware. System requirements include -

  • Windows PC (10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000) or Mac OS X (Mojave [10.14], HighSierra [10.13], Sierra [10.12], El-Capitan [10.11])
  • Available USB port (version 2.0 or 3.0)
  • 4GB RAM or more
  • 200MB available space on HDD
  • Internet connection

Retained Features: The following factory features (if applicable) are retained when replacing your factory radio with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit using the Maestro RR Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-HRR-CH1 installation harness.

  • Factory Amplifier: Retains factory premium audio amplifier with turn-on, fader, and gain adjustment.
  • Steering Wheel Controls: Factory steering wheel controls are retained with two function buttons and expandable radio functions.
  • Camera Features: Retains the factory backup camera with dynamic parking guideline overlay (requires HRN-AV-CH1 adapter); aftermarket radio must be equipped with composite video backup camera input. If you add an aftermarket front and/or side cameras (sold separately) to your idatalink compatible head unit that is equipped with multiple camera inputs, the vehicle's factory auto camera switching feature is also retained.
  • EVIC Cluster Display: Retains factory EVIC cluster display with source name information and internal navigation information.

Note: When installing an aftermarket head unit without the iDatalink Serial Port, only steering wheel control, amplifier turn-on, and reverse camera (requires HRN-AV-CH1 adapter) are retained.

Extra Features: The following Extra features are added when replacing your aftermarket head unit with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-HRR-CH1 installation harness.

  • Vehicle Info: Tire Pressure Display, Battery Voltage Display, Read/Reset Engine Codes, and Door Open Status with Warning.
  • Gauges: Selectable Performance Gauges, "Track Pack" Gauges, and Read/Reset Check Engine Codes.

Outputs: The HRN-HRR-CH1 provides Navigation, Accessory Power, and Illumination Outputs to make installation simpler.

  • Navigation: Parking Brake, Reverse Light, and VSS (Vehicle Speed Sense).
  • Accessory Power Output: 12V/15A Accessory Power Output
  • Illumination Output: Illumination Output

Q
I'm installing a aftermarket radio in a 2011 jeep liberty with Infinity system is this the kit I need to turn the amp on with radio.....I bought a wiring kit and have no sound?

A
So this harness is actually just one piece of the install harness needed for your Jeep Liberty and depending on the radio you are installing and features you may want to retain, there could be another harness that we offer that may suit your needs a bit better. We have advisors who can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 that can help recommend the best harness for your goals.

Greetings Brian. Thank you for your question. This Idatalink harness needs a programmable module from Idatalink in order to complete the install. That module runs $170. www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSMRR/item.html Thats not the only option though, we have wiring adapters from PAC, and Crux that also keep the factory amplifier in your Liberty. Contact one of our advisors at 800-324-9695 to see which option is best for you.

Q
Maybe this is a silly question, but I can't seem to figure out which way to connect the green/white connectors. The diagram and instructions seem to tell you what to do based on whether or not you have a factory amplifier. Does having an aftermarket amplifier apply to this question at all? What if I do have a factory amplifier but I also have an aftermarket amplifier that I want to use instead?

I can help Bailey, and you can always call our Technical Support hotline with your order number handy to speak to an agent who would be happy to help. In your 2015 Wrangler we show you have the model with the Alpine audio system. You cannot wire in the Alpine Power pack 4-channel without bypassing your original Alpine amplifier (or wiring around it for the full-range channels if you want to keep the original subwoofer working). I would install your iLX-650 radio using the "with amp" connections to get the new radio up and running now using the factory amp. Please give our technical support department a call at 1-888-292-2575 and we can discuss how to install the power pack amplifier. We are here to help!

Q
Do I need a Maestro RR module even if my vehicle is not equipped with steering wheel controls or other features I want to retain?
michael  Oct 22, 2023
1 answer
A
We need to know your exact vehicle to confirm anything, Michael. Any iDatalink harness will need a Maestro module for function, even without steering wheel controls or other features you need to retain. Depending on your specific vehicle and radio needs, we may have alternative options that would better suit you. Please use our Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter your vehicle then when you choose your radio, we will list all the available install packages and retained features. If you have any questions or need help placing your order, do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-324-9694 and an Advisor would be happy to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Q
Does this harness come with pre-amp?
stevie  Feb 20, 2023

A
This does not, Stephen. This iDatalink HRN-HRR-CH1 is used in conjunction with the iDatalink Maestro module in the link below for aftermarket radio installation in select vehicles. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSMRR/iDatalink-Maestro-RR-Interface-Module.html

Q
Does this fit on a 2013 challenger to a pioneer unit?
twinn  Dec 03, 2022
1 answer
A
This harness is compatible with most Challengers, however this harness will not work alone and needs the iDatalink Maestro to interface with your vehicle. We need to know more about your Challenger and the model of the Pioneer you're installing before we can determine if this harness is compatible. Give us a call at 1-800-324-9695 and we'll be glad to check compatibility.
