iDatalink KIT-FOC1 Dash and Wiring Kit

Amazing kit!

The fit was surprisingly very good and looks flawless. I bought some of the extra harnesses to make it completley plug and play and install was very simple. Def would recommend spending the extra money and using this kit over some of the others I have seen online. Well worth it.
Pros: Retains all oem functions with correct accessories
Cons:

Only one problem with this the Kenwood radio can't be flush against the frame for the radio that I bought from Crutchfield for my car there is a noticeable gap the buttons on the bottom of the radio get in the way the opening in the frame is not wide enough considering I paid $400 for the plate to fit my radio I feel I should not have problems.
Pros:
Cons: $400 plate doesn't fit my radio

You have to trim some of the Ford panels to make this fit and its fiddly to get the radio aligned - the shape does not accept a Kenwood 6906S with the trim, so there is a slight gap around it. Wiring was a bit tricky - but Crutchfield tech services helped me sort it out so I could make the right connections!
Pros: Allows you to keep a lot of the standard features
Cons: Fiddly to fit, and the design does not allow you to fit the player trim for the unit I purchased.

Excellent product and fits great, I order the scratch and sent item and I can't tell if there was anything wrong with it. Fits clean and looks professional. The center pocket is a little deep and gets in the way a lot, not very useful either. If they made an option to where I could eliminate the center pocket and just replace it with plugins i would. However I highly recommend this product.
Pros: -Profession fit & look -makes the car seem more modern
Cons: -Center storage

This kit works great. Wish paid the extra money and got it in the first place.
Pros: It works.
Cons: It's a bit complicated with the software bump that one has to get it up and running. The wiring is bulky and made the trim almost impossible to install. I didnt even try. I removed the door from the tray and hot glued it to the trim. Installed a usb port in the console instead of using that tray version. Will probably install the 3.5 mm the same way. Also this kit is expensive.

If you plan to keep your SYNC, then this and the maestro are the way to go. It is very expensive though (will cost you more than your head unit). However, everything fits great and worked really well. The kit is well made and the instructions are very clear. I only took a star off because the price is cost-prohibitive to a lot of users. Also, be prepared to do a lot of soldering, so many wires to be terminated.
Pros: Fit, Finish, and Harness are all spot on and great.
Cons: Expensive, but again, does what it says and is well made.

Great product could do with some modifications!
Crutchfield customer from Ashley, OH on 6/2/2021
2018 Ford Focus
This works great to replace the radio in a ford focus, I'm not a fan of the cubby they created with the spring-loaded door and the USB, HDMI, and aux port inside. They are hard to use and access and I would have prefered that this was solid and had the ports directly on the font of the panel. This would also have made wiring easier as there would have been a large space behind the panel to conceal the iDatalink module and all its wiring.
Pros: Works and allows easy install of a double din unit into the focus.
Cons: Access to the USB ports hard and the cubby takes up space that could be used for wiring

2018 Focus ST Requires Modifications
Crutchfield customer from Redmond, WA on 3/11/2021
2018 Ford Focus
This kit was definitely not a drop in replacement in 2018 Focus ST. The dash had to be cut where the bottom meets the heater controls. Also, the wire harness and module are too bulky to fit behind the included pocket so that had to be cut to about 1/2 the depth. I used black epoxy to reattach the back once I cut a segment out of the middle. After these modifications everything fit well. So, if you're comfortable with a dremel and a bit of epoxy this kit will do the job. It's much easier to do these modifications then to try to replace the Sony deck without a kit! The wire harnesses all mated up well, the unit programmed easily, and all functions work well. I interfaced with Kenwood DDX9907XR which had the added benefit of including climate controls and vehicle info. None of this was available on the Sony head unit I was replacing. This was a very nice upgrade.
Pros: Wire harnesses were perfect match Easy programming on Windows PC
Cons: Modifications required to kit and vehicle (2018 Focus ST)

The dash kit was an "okay" fit. The pocket is definitely too deep when all wiring and the RR module are installed. I'm pretty sure it interferes with my climate control wiring as well. Doesn't hold too well with the outer edge "clips" either.

fantastic fit, way better than the metra kit that can be found at other places, a nice matte black color and no annoying orange lights, only issues I have seen are the lip for storage drawer is really sharp, need to file it down, can slice up your fingers very easily, other issue is the unlock/hazard button that was sent is extremely sensitive, also gets stuck after you press it, may just need to work it in a few times.
Pros: easy to install, and has options store phone with hidden usb/hdmi connectors
Cons: lip on storage unit is extremely sharp, and unlock/hazard button gets stuck from time to time inside unit, have to play around with it to free it.

Great concept, okay execution
Kohl from Tempe, AZ on 7/11/2019

This is arguably the best choice for a focus when replacing the radio. While its not perfect, its far better than the Sosche or Metra kits when it comes to looks. The finish matches the factory look and feel and it doesn't rattle around or squeak, despite its loose fit. After hours trying to get this to attach to the climate control panel correctly, I found that you need to put your shifter in L, pull the climate panel up and out, slide the radio over the clips, bend it up until the center tab "clicks", finally slide the full assembly back into place, and push in the clips. The fit is decent overall, but it does have some noticeable gaps around the edges. I couldn't get the top tabs to fully engage, so I held it all in place while I tightened the two T25 screws. The pocket is a nice feature, it can be hard to fish your hand in and get your phone or cable out, as it is narrow. The USB ports are far enough back that you can plug your phone in, and still close the door. I decided after a few days to just run my radio USB cable to the center console port and patch the factory USB port (which only works for charging) to the pocket. If you're wanting to retain your factory SiriusXM antenna, you can use a Curry Code K to SMB adapter, the factory satellite antenna is the yellow plug. If you have no intentions of putting your factory radio back in, you can also just remove the plastic clip housing around the factory antenna lead, and it will work in an SMB port on a SiriusXM tuner.
Pros: Looks Professional, matches finish; Doesn't squeak or rattle
Cons: Tabs do not all engage; Vents fit loosely; Easy to scratch/mark during install; Small Gaps

2018 Ford Focus Hatchback SE

2018 Ford Focus
This fit in my 2018 Ford Focus Hatchback SE, with the small LCD screen, non-Sony with 4 speakers. The hardest part of this job is getting the first plastic piece off with the air bag light. It is all in the angle of attack in getting that bad boy off. Once you get that first piece off this retro fit is a piece of cake. The two top plastic clips were hard to fully engage and the bottom right clip did not snap in for me on finally assembly. A bit of a wonky fit for me. Steering wheel controls function and the car info is a nice added touch. I can now see the actual PSI of my tires at all times not just when they're low by the idiot light. I would recommend this kit.

Gets expensive fast
Crutchfield customer from Longview, WA on 5/6/2019
2017 Ford Focus
Two things stop this kit from getting 5 stars. First is the kit is incomplete. You have to buy antenna adapters, SiriusXM module and a DDR something or other to interface between the car and new double dim. Plan on spending an additional $250 to complete you install. Second thing is the spring loaded dirt that hides a cubby hole and usb plugs hangs up. Not the biggest problem but annoying.
Pros: Great finish. Looks good. Seems to be good quality. Crutchfield support is awesome.
Cons: Additional products needed, doubling cost.

This kit fits great in my Ford Focus. I showed the guy I bought it from and he was surprised it wasn't factory. The only ting I had to tweak, my phone still could bluetooth connect with my car and I just had to 'forget' that device so my phone would only connect with the stereo. The instructions were easy and I got it installed in a couple hours.

Ugly and unwieldy, bit better than the other options
James from Fairborn, OH on 1/9/2019
2015 Ford Focus
Plastic is a good matte, though incredibly cheap feeling. I had issues with the stock air vents staying clipped into the new shroud, and when installing some of the clips designed to clip into the stock dash just didn't want to clip at all. Luckily there are screws to hold it down, but you need to hold in position while tighening. When using with a 2015 up, you have to change the bottom area to properly fit the airbag light and cover the climate control screws, and on my kit, the plastic piece that clip on the new bottom just would not come off, so I had to do some creative re-assembly to get it to line up. Finally, due to there being just not enough room, the radio can't sit back very far, so it's kinda ugly. The poker is a nice addition with the integrated connections.
Pros: New pocket with integrated connections is nice, overall good fit, better than other option.
Cons: Bad plastic, bad clips, ugly, very ugly

The kit was very easy to install. It made swapping out the factory unit with an aftermarket head unit a breeze.
Pros: Great fit Easy install Clear Directions Included both types of emergency flasher switch (with and w/o door lock) The USB ports and hidden compartment was a nice feature
Cons: The door to the hidden compartment is a little awkward to open The USB ports are recessed back to far to making it uncomfortable to plug and unplug a cable. I just bought an extra cable and leave it plugged in all the time. Easy fix.

Great product
Andre from St. Louis, MO on 9/13/2018

This dash kit is way better than the scosche dash kit. As a product it's worth 5 stars. The reason for four is due to the instructions being very unclear at times. For instance the factory bezel you remove before taking out your factory radio controls is replaced by the bezel that comes with the dash kit. However you're instructed to attach the bezel to dash kit but you must disconnect it similar to how you first remove the factory radio. Additionally the hdmi and USB ports are not plug and play like the instal video or instructions indicate. You must have either a kenwoud that has a dual connector for these USB ports to work. Or you must get 2 female usb to female usb cord to connect these inputs to your aftermarket radio. I'm using this dash kit with the pioneer 4400 nex with wireless CarPlay.
Pros: Looks great. Extra connection options.
Cons: Instructions could be vastly more detailed saving time and energy.
