Overview: The Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Generation) can help lower your heating and cooling costs by simply learning your schedule and living habits. You can install it yourself, or have it professionally installed. The Nest Learning Thermostat programs itself in a few days to create a personalized schedule, based on the temperature changes you've made, and when you've made them. The thermostat is ENERGY STAR®-certified for its energy-saving features. When connected to your home's Wi-Fi network, you can control it with your smartphone or tablet, or with your voice using Google Home or other Matter-enabled apps and voice assistants. The thermostat comes with one Nest Temperature Sensor that monitors the temperature in another room. The thermostat comes in multiple colors: Polished Silver (this unit), Polished Obsidian, or Polished Gold.

Design: The easy-to-use Nest Learning Thermostat has a large, programmable, borderless liquid crystal display, 60% larger than the 3rd generation model. To change the temperature, simply turn the display. Touch the display to change the mode, turn on the fan, view the sensors, or enter the settings menu. The 2.7" circular LCD display has a resolution of 600 x 600 pixels with a mirrored glass lens. Typically, the display shows the Target Temperature in large numerals, and the current indoor temp and mode in small icons and numerals. When you make adjustments, the screen changes, showing more helpful information.

Dynamic Farsight: When you are across the room, Dynamic Farsight shows you useful information in large, easy-to-read characters or icons. In the Google Home app, you can choose from several designs, including the temperature, weather, clock, and more. When you are standing near the thermostat, the display provides more helpful information, such as the humidity or outdoor air quality in smaller fonts.

Operating Modes: The thermostat has four different temperature settings:

• Comfort: This mode lets you set comfortable temperatures for the times when you're at home and awake.
• Sleep: The Sleep mode helps you to save money and energy while comfortably sleeping.
• Eco: When you are away from home, the Eco mode helps you to save money and energy by not fully heating or cooling an unoccupied home.
• Custom: If you prefer, you can create custom schedules with your own preset temperatures.

Installation: The Nest Learning Thermostat works with most 24-volt heating and cooling systems, including gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump, and radiant. It can control Heating (1, 2, and 3 stages), Cooling (1 and 2 stages), Heat Pump with auxiliary and emergency heat, Fan, Power, Humidifier and Dehumidifer, and Ventilation. Replacing your system's thermostat with Nest requires connecting up to six small-gauge wires by color code, or labeled by function with the supplied labels. The thermostat comes with a base plate for connecting your HVAC system's wires. The base has spring-loaded tabs for connecting the wires and a built-in level for proper installation with the included hardware. An oval trim plate is included to cover cosmetic imperfections from your old thermostat. If you're not comfortable with installing it yourself, you can have it professionally installed by a Google Nest Pro in your area.

Sensors: The Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Generation) is equipped with internal sensors that can affect the way it controls your heating and cooling system. It contains a Soli sensor that detects motion, proximity, and the presence of nearby objects. It enables the thermostat to detect whether or not anyone is at home to activate the Auto-Away features. Temperature sensors in the thermostat keep track of your home's temperature, and how quickly it changes. It can also adjust itself if the thermostat is subjected to direct sunlight so it will read and set the correct temperature. The thermostat also uses ambient light sensors to adjust the brightness of the display. A built-in humidity sensor can help manage a whole-home humidifier or dehumidifier.

Temperature Sensors: Included with the Nest Learning Thermostat is a Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd generation). The sensor can be placed in a room away from the thermostat to let you choose where the thermostat measures the temperature in your home. Up to six Temperature Sensors can be added to the Learning Thermostat to help regulate the temperature in the rooms where you spend the most time. The Nest Learning Thermostat (4th generation) is compatible with both the 2nd generation and the 1st generation Temperature Sensors.

Connectivity: The Nest Learning Thermostat connects to your home's Wi-Fi network (802.11n - 2.4 GHz/5 GHz) where it can be accessed remotely by laptop, smartphone, or tablet from anywhere with an Internet connection. You will need to download the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet (iOS 16.1+, Android version varies per device), and set up an account, in order to securely access and control the Nest Learning Thermostat. The thermostat automatically receives software updates, when available. You can also manage multiple Nest products in your home with your Google Home account.

Natural Heating/Cooling: The Nest Learning Thermostat can save energy by letting your home cool down or warm up naturally by pulling in outside air. In the winter, the thermostat will use less energy by letting the sun warm your home. In summer, the thermostat can pull in cool morning or evening air, allowing less use of the air conditioner. It can also bring in fresh air when the air quality is the highest, and recirculate the inside air when the outside air quality is poor.

System Health Monitor: The thermostat helps you maintain your HVAC system by constantly monitoring its operating efficiency. It can alert you of potential issues you may be unaware of, such as temperature fluctuations or premature shutting down. This allows you to catch and fix problems early before they become more costly.
