Bluesound Hub Wireless Audio Source Adapter and Network Preamp

The HUB lets you stream vinyl and other analog and digital sources to your BluOS components and speakers.

The Bluesound HUB lets you connect digital and analog sources — even a turntable — and stream them wirelessly to other BluOS speakers and components on your home network.

What it doesn't do

The HUB isn't a standalone network streamer, and it doesn't have a DAC or even a wired audio output. It's built for one job only: letting you add virtually any vintage or modern wired sources to your streaming BluOS ecosystem.

A source preamp for your home network

The HUB connects to your home network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. There are two analog inputs, including a dedicated phono input, plus optical and coaxial digital inputs that let you connect a CD player or other sources with digital outputs.

Any source you plug in will show up in the BluOS app — no matter which player (or players) you're streaming to.

Stream your vinyl and other sources

The old-school vinyl LP has truly come full circle when you can connect your turntable to this HUB and stream it to other players in your BluOS ecosystem. Whether you use the built-in moving magnet phono input or plug your own phono preamp of choice into the line-level input, you'll get the magic warmth of vinyl, now freed up and streaming across your network.

You could use the HDMI eARC connection on the HUB to send tasty stereo TV sound to a Bluesound PULSE FLEX 2i or MINI 2i pair (sold separately) running in stereo. You can even play one analog and one digital stream simultaneously to different BluOS players.

Convenient, flexible placement options

The HUB is small enough to fit in one hand. It has four keyhole mounting slots so you can put it where you need it. Mount it on a wall close to your TV or network router or place it inconspicuously beside a beautiful turntable.

Features

Bluesound Hub: Add the Bluesound Hub to practically any non-BluOS enabled audio source and transmit your music to one or many Bluesound players, amplifiers, and speakers (all sold separately) around your home. Thanks to the Hub's line-level, Phono, digital, and HDMI inputs, audio sources like a turntable, CD player, or TV instantly become network-connected and are new sources from which your Bluesound system can play audio. A single Hub can stream one analog and one digital source simultaneously. Up to four Hubs can be added to a single Bluesound network for a total of eight streaming sources (4 analog, 4 digital).

Note: The Bluesound Hub is not a stand alone device. It requires an analog or digital audio source component, plus a Bluesound speaker, amplifier, or player (sold separately).

BluOS Wireless High-Resolution Multiroom Audio: The Bluesound Hub is part of the BluOS wireless high-resolution multiroom audio eco-system - consisting of powered speakers, soundbar speakers, amplifiers, players, and hard-drives. The BluOS wireless high-resolution multiroom audio ecosystem uses your home's wired or wireless network to connect multiple Bluesound products and play your music in perfect sync, or different music simultaneously, anywhere in your home. Using advanced technologies, BluOS can wirelessly transmit lossless music up to 24-bit/192kHz at ultra-fast speeds with no lag and zero loss in sound quality.

BluOS Controller App: The free BluOS Controller app (for Apple iOS 9.3-up, Android OS 5.0-up, Windows PC (Vista-up), and Mac OS X 10.15-up) turns your mobile device or computer into a full-featured wireless remote control for the Bluesound Hub and the BluOS wireless multiroom audio system. The BluOS Controller app on your compatible device uses your home's WiFi network to connect with Bluesound devices, so you can play all the music you love anywhere in your home for a wireless multiroom music experience.

Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Bluesound Hub requires a wired or wireless connection to your home's network router. It features a Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 jack connector for a hardwired connection and built-in 2.4/5GHz dual-band WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac for a wireless connection. The 5GHz WiFi band offers a faster and more reliable connection with fewer interruptions and dropouts. Either network connection allows you to stream your connected audio sources to other Bluesound components around your home.

  • Wired Ethernet Setup: An Ethernet wired connection to the network is simple and requires no setup. If you wish to use the wired connection, simply connect the Bluesound Hub directly to your router or home network using an Ethernet cable (sold separately).
  • Wireless WiFi Setup: A WiFi wireless connection requires setup through the BluOS app on your Apple iOS or Android device. If you are on a Windows PC (7/8/10) or Apple Mac, you'll use Bluesound's web browser based application. You'll be walked you through the set-up process step-by-step.

Notes:

  • A wireless network router will always be required for the BluOS Controller App.
  • Bluesound exclusively utilizes the 2.4GHz wireless band when connecting to a Wireless-N router.

HDMI eARC: The Bluesound Hub is equipped with a HDMI eARC (enhanced audio return channel) jack for connection to your TV's HDMI eARC or ARC input. Use the Hub with a pair of Bluesound Pulse speakers (sold separately) to upgrade your TV sound. Audio from the HDMI eARC jack can also be played back and wirelessly distributed to other Bluesound components in your home for multiroom playback.

Optical & Coaxial Digital Inputs: The Bluesound Hub is outfitted with an optical (toslink) digital input and a coaxial (RCA) digital input for the connection of a DVD, Blu-ray, or SACD player. The optical & coaxial digital inputs support up to 24-bit/192kHz stereo 2-channel PCM audio. Audio from the optical and coaxial digital inputs can be played back and wirelessly distributed to other Bluesound components in your home for multiroom playback.

Note: The optical & coaxial digital input do not support Dolby Digital, DTS, or other multichannel audio formats.

Line Level Analog Input: The Bluesound Hub feature a stereo line-level analog RCA input for connection of a CD or tape player. Audio from the level-level analog input can be played back and wirelessly distributed to other Bluesound components in your home for multiroom playback.

Phono MM Input: The Bluesound Hub offers a Phono MM input with a built-in low noise, wide-bandwidth Phono preamp for connection of a turntable with a MM (moving magnet) cartridge. Audio from the Phono MM input can be played back and wirelessly distributed to other Bluesound components in your home for multiroom playback.

Power Requirements: The Bluesound Hub features a USB-C port, plus comes with a 6.5' USB-C to USB-A cable and USB/AC power adapter to plug into an AC power outlet or surge protector (sold separately).

Mounting Options: The Bluesound Hub can be tabletop mounted and placed horizontally on stable flat surface. It can also be wall-mounted using its integrated 4-way keyhole slots (mounting screws not included). A rubber cover on the bottom of the Hub needs to be removed to access the 4-way keyhole slots.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
I am looking to send signal from my preamp out into the analog RCA inputs of the Bluesound Hub so I can connect my preamp with my Bluesound Pulse. The Hub says the RCA analog input is â??line levelâ??. My preamp out is not line level. Is this OK?

A
Greetings Neil, and thank you for your question. Preamp and line level are a bit different. Line level is what comes out of a CD, Tape, or Turntable. Its fixed, and the device with the line level in would control the output volume. The Preamp output is a variable voltage output controlled by the volume potentiometer on the preamp. Now seeing as the Hub is just a hub, not an amplifier, your preamp will either send to the hub a strong signal, or a weak one depending on the volume setting of your preamp. As far as it being okay, absolutely.
