This is a simple device and I use it exclusively so that I can play vinyl on my blusound speakers in other rooms

Won't operate

Have been unable to activate machine despite hours of back and forth with BlueSound staff. Either I'm really stupid or they're unable to communicate a simple solution. Or the machine simply doesn't work. But no one's suggested that yet

Works just as expected. Allowed me to connect a turntable and CD player to my Bluesound multi room eco-system. Now I can play vinyl and cd's as another streaming source. Also allows me greater flexibility for placement of my turntable and CD player. Sounds great - only issue is that I do have to increase the volume on my playback systems when I select the sources connected via this hub.

BlueSound Hub works well, except ...

This product lets me provide TV sound to other BlueSound Node 2i's in my home network without running wires. This function could be performed by yet another Node, but the Hub costs roughly half of what a Node costs. The Hub also has a built in phono preamp, but I have no need for this at the moment. Setup was simple and went smoothly. The TV sound is provided to the Hub via optical/Toslink connection. Operationally, it works fine, with one important issue: Lag. For streaming music, lag isn't an issue, but for TV sound synchronized with picture, it matters. My receiving Node 2i in the same room as the TV normally feeds a Cambridge DAC Magic d/a converter and Cambridge integrated amp. With this arrangement, the lag is around 0.1 sec and noticeable. I checked with BlueSound online help, and a portion of this lag, that between Hub and Node 2i, cannot be reduced. Their suggestion to minimize the lag is to not use the external DAC, but to derive the audio instead from the Node 2i's own DAC. I tried this, and indeed, the lag is cut by more than half which is far less noticeable. I now have both the Cambridge DAC output and the Node 2i output available to the Cambridge amp. I personally prefer the sound quality of the Cambridge DAC, but for moments when I want to watch TV, it's easy to switch and thereby reduce the lag. Again, for just sharing music, like a cassette player or phono player the lag isn't at all a factor.

Pros: Relatively inexpensive compared to Node, Simple to set up, easy to access via BluOS app. Music streaming is effortless.

Cons: There is a lag (0.05 sec or less) that might present a sync issue (picture and sound) if the Hub is to be used, say, to transmit TV sound wirelessly across a room.
