Bluesound PULSE FLEX 2i
Eric from Indian Trail, NC on 4/1/2025
I have a set of these for my computer. I use them for the computer speakers as well as to listen to music while I am working. The 5 separate pre-sets make it easy to switch between sources throughout the day. They are definitely perfect for this application. I could also see they would work great in a kitchen or bedroom. I listen mostly at lower volumes and the sound quality is great! Not muddled.
Pros: Small clear sounding speakers
Cons: None yet

Horrible Experience
Brian from ARVADA, CO on 3/25/2025
This player is very flaky, unreliable and requires hours of maintenance. I have a total of three players that I like to use in a group but it rarely works. I've spent hours upon hours with BlueSound tech support as well as Crutchfield tech support but so far no one has been able to help me. I've had this equipment for over a year so can't return it anymore, but if I could I certainly would.

Not for me...
Paul from Redmond, OR on 2/26/2025
I was looking for something to replace my old Sonos system after their infamous app update, but the hunt continues. I found the Bluesound app to be slow and a bit wonky (but that certainly could be operator error on my part), and the sound of the Pulse Flex 2i was not as good as my old Sonos Play:1 speakers. To me, both the Bluesound and Sonos have a similar build quality. As usual, buying from Crutchfield is the only way to go: fast shipping and no hassle returns.

Great sound, small package
Alden from Bronx, NY on 10/29/2024
Bought a pair of these for my eat-in kitchen, upgrading from a pair of Bose SoundLinks, which I liked, but wanted something that could incorporate into a wi-fi multiroom system. Originally ordered the Pulse M but they were just a bit too big - these are a bit smaller and much less obtrusive, if that's important to you. They sound terrific, even in my reverb-ey non-treated kitchen space. Great at low volumes and plenty of power to get above cooking, convo and party noises when necessary. Bass is punchy without being bloomy, which was my biggest issue with the SoundLinks. Mids are nice and clear and highs are bright but not clashy or harsh. These are head and shoulders above the SoundLinks for not a whole lot more - I'm sure some of that comes down to the lossy BT codec but sound wise they really seem to be an upgrade across the board. The SoundLinks have batteries (and these have optional batteries), but for plugged in use it's a no brainer. Compared to the Pulse M, I could see how the larger speakers (and the Pulse M's ability to play stereo out of a single unit ) might be the better fit for some people, but for my purposes these are better for me - in a pair the sound is perfect and I've never needed it above 50% volume. Looking forward to getting DIRAC running on these once my Node Icon arrives.
Pros: Great sound More than enough volume for its size Unobtrusive design Wireless Ready Perfect for a stereo pair
Cons: Battery pack adds some cost to be truly wireless Bluesound ecosystem may or may not be your thing Design is a little boring, if you want something flashy

Great speaker.
Gotdon from HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA on 10/11/2024
Great satellite speaker. I purchased for bedroom. Amazing sound for such a neat pkg. Finish and quality are great. there are EQ controls but I run it flat. Control buttons can be dimmed or turned off. Many reviewers have missed these options. Nice to run with my main system in living room but also can run separate. Presets are good. Just touch a button and the unit powers up and starts streaming. Running g in mono mode as that's all I need.

Initial impression is that the sound is a bit boomy. The streaming cuts out. We otherwise have good WiFi throughout the house. Perhaps it will improve with time. Enjoying the ability to listen to music through the house. Wondering if the stepped up speaker would improve fidelity?
Pros: Portable and integrates well with other blue sound products
Cons: Sound is a bit boomy and music cuts out

Nice Sound, Very Nice Features
Mark from MERIDEN, CT on 8/9/2024
Nice Sound, Nice Features. A great amount of features and sound for the price. You can connect to your home Wi-Fi and stream Spotify, Tunein, etc. You can connect using Bluetooth. It supports/plays a flash drive with mp3 music on it (using the BLUos app). The buttons on top are great - play/pause, vol up, vol down, programmable number buttons (I use to play/select internet radio). On a related note, I bought an older Apple TV/Mac A1156 remote control for 6 dollars and easily programmed it to work the Flex 2i. One concern is there is no On/Off button. You stop play using an app or press the play/pause button. Alexa support is weak but there. Sorry but I said goodbye to my Sonos speakers.
Pros: sound, features, flash drive support, audio in jack

Great little speaker
James from GLEN ALLEN, VA on 7/21/2024
This a great little speaker with a big sound. I wanted this primarily because it allowed me to go mobile with my BluOS system. The presets are a nice touch giving quick access to five of my favorite stations. The speaker produces a lot of bass thumping sound so it is not great in small locations if played loud. It will fill a large family room easily.
Pros: BluOS access Great Sound Five presets

Great Sound, EZ Setup
Scott from Vinton, VA on 6/3/2024
We were early adopters of Bluesound ~7or 8 years ago. My wife was concerned because our Sonos stuff had a much more polished and proven UI, but I really wanted to go Hi-Res. Bluesound caught up with its competitors a couple years ago and I'm pleased to say the setup of this new revision of the Flex was extremely easy and it sounds even better. I'm glad that we worked through all the software bugs over the years, because the sound has always been superior.
Pros: Hi-Res, Easy Setup
Cons: No IPX rating

I seldom use the "Quick Setup Guide", but, in this case, it was a breeze. Integrated into my growing Bluesound eco-system without any help from me. Yes it is a monophonic speaker, but the sound is excellent and the unit is very small. And the power supply is integrated (no wall warts to deal with). It was playing music from my music library on my Synology NAS as soon as the firmware upgrade was completed. From the BluOS app, it looks like my other NAD devices. If this unit fits your requirements, don't hesitate to order from Crutchfield (double boxed).
Pros: Great sound. Easy setup. Is automatically integrated into the Bluesound eco-system.

It's not hiring stereo, but sounds pretty good. It seems fairly easy to to mostly, although without any specific instructions we're not sure how to use the numbers 1-5 that are lit up on top of it. Great for a kitchen or small room
Marcel from Bakersfield, CA on 1/26/2023
Very happy with the purchase. Some others noted they were unhappy with the sound quality, but I don't find that to be the case. If anything, my wife preferred the former Logitech Radio, as she stated the new one was a little too bassy. But the kids these days like the bass. I use it via BluOS and Roon. Only BluOS for the 5 preset buttons on the unit, Roon for my own digital collection & Tidal. There's a jillion streaming options available in BluOS, and the few I've tried all work OK. TuneIn and SiriusXM are the only ones that I use regularly. Tidal is via Roon for me. Setup was super easy. I wish there was a small color screen and more onboard controls (like the Logitechs used to have), but that is extremely rare these days. As far as I can tell, the alarm clock only works if you select a BluOS station or playlist, and the unit was left in BluOS the night before. You cannot alarm to a Roon station or playlist.

Lots to like, but not quite 5 star
James from Portland, OR on 11/5/2021
I bought this out of frustration with Sonos for their lousy network security protocols. I'd say Sonos's app is still top of the field, but BluOS isn't far behind. BluOS is quite responsive when the speaker is getting a strong network signal, and very quick when connected via ethernet. In comparing the sound of this unit to the Sonos Play:1 (I don't have the One or One SL to compare it to), the Sonos definitely gets the nod in sound quality. That's too bad considering the price of these speakers. I'm not saying they sound bad - the Sonos just has the edge over them sonically. I know this speaker supports MQA and other higher res formats, but my ears can't hear much of a difference between MQA and HiFi on Tidal. I'm not sure that these are capable of resolving the differences sonically - or maybe it's just my old ears that aren't. That said, it's nice to have an ecosystem that supports these newer bit levels and formats. There are always tradeoffs in life. In this case you lose some sound quality, but if you have a music library stored on a NAS you gain a great deal of security with the Bluesound products.
Pros: -Support for higher res formats and MQA -BluOS is far more secure in network connections than Sonos -Available battery pack to make it truly wireless -Built in two-way, AptX Bluetooth
Cons: -Sonos's smallest speakers have the edge sound-wise -Pricey considering the above

Crutchfield gets 5-stars Bluesound Pulse FLEX 2i gets 4
Crutchfield customer from Bangor, ME on 10/19/2021
Crutchfield gets 5-stars (Thank you Colin!) and the Bluesound Pulse FLEX 2i gets 4-stars. The Bluesound PULSE FLEXT 2i was purchased as a replacement for a Logitech Slimserver 3 which is no longer functional. The FLEX 2i was easy to get up and running, found all my networked music [but not the playlists :( ], is great for connecting to streaming services, and sounds nice. While the playlist management provided by Logitech Media Server was not great it was vastly superior to BluOS. I encourage BluOS to take a look at how MediaMonkey can be used to manage playlists. If BlueSound tells me how to get BluOS to recognize my MediaMonkey playlists or fixes BluOS I would increase my rating to a 5 and will also invest in more Bluesound products.
Pros: Easy to set up Found my music files on my PC Easy to connect to streaming services Sounds great
Cons: BluOS has very poor playlist management

Bluesound & Bluos
Crutchfield customer from Sarasota, FL on 10/10/2021
These are small speakers that function exactly as I intended. They are in my bedroom and the sound using BluOS and either Tidal or Qobuz works very well. I could add the pulse sub, but have no real need at this time. These are intended for soft acoustic music quite honestly, to fall asleep by. Perfect! Much better than blurtooth speakers I was using before. I read that they never really power down, but go into a sleep mode after 15~mins. All the lights remain on display on top. I added the battery packs, but now am realizing they will get rare use. Sound is very good for speakers this size and work perfectly for my intent. I'm relatively new to the whole Bluosphere. So far it has blown me away. The results are hi fi streaming anywhere in your house.I'm on a trial with Tidal. Not sure I need all these services (Amazon, Apple, Spotify, QoBuz and Tidal. I have wide ranging tastes and have yet to not find something of interest.

Very pleased with this speaker/streamer. The streamer requires a near Wi-Fi source. Connected to my router, the signal was only -72 db. So, I added a MOCA hotspot in the same room to achieve -44 db. In the future, I plan to add another speaker and the sound-bar to replace an AVR and wired speakers. I mistakenly plugged the optical cable into the headphone jack. Thank you to Crutchfield for quickly identifying my mistake.

First impression upon picking up the box, surprised at how heavy the box was. Very impressed with the sound stage for such a small speaker. The highs are crisp and clean and the base is better than I expected. I only gave it four stars because it is a little pricey and to say the directions are lacking is a gross under statement. After emailing back and forth a technician called me and patiently walked me through the setup. They also need to provide a description for the symbols and corresponding buttons on the top of the speaker. Putting the inadequate instructions aside it is a very good sounding speaker. If I come to terms with the price I will probably purchase a second one to get stereo sound. The $600 woofer though, probably not.

Bought these to add some music to our family room where we spend most of our time. They are a nice addition to our Blue Sound ecosystem however I wish they had a little more definition when played at a lower volume such as background music when you want to enjoy your conversation with people. Perhaps I was expecting too much? In any case, when you turn them up, these little speakers can put out some pretty nice sound.
Pros: Flawless set up with existing Blue Sound system
Cons: Besides the limitations of such a little speaker in a fairly large room I'd say none.

I am using this primarily in conjunction with the excellent Bluesound Node 2i which I added to stream HR audio from my existing hardwired audiophile stereo systems. I added a pair of the Pulse Flex 2i to the kitchen area at one end of our Great Room which also includes a large audiophile system, but at the far end. When used as a fill in conjunction with the the large system, the sound stage is really impressive, creating a surprising good and satisfying listening experience across the entire space. So as a supplement to our existing system, mission accomplished! I also like that for casual listening we can easily use Airplay to put on a podcast or news from an iphone or ipad.
Pros: 1.Produces sound that manages to nicely supplement a hi-end audio system without seeming too small, unnatural or disconnected. 2. Small footprint, surprisingly high sound level. 3. Nice integration with Bluesound components and Airplay.
Cons: 1. While the volume can be impressive for their size, they sound a bit congested in the lower-midrange (but a touch of EQ in the app does help with this, as would adding a woofer). 2. When used alone, the sound stage is fair at best, so it's best to pair them. 3. They are expensive when compared to say, a Sonos One. 4. With the exception of an Airplay source they lock you in to the Bluesound ecosystem (but so would Sonos or other multi-room systems. So that's a wash).

Like the speaker, but the battery is a pain. It has no more than 4hrs playing. What is really bad it that its like seems to be no more than 12 months, as I just went through my second one in about two years and only use it outside for about 7 month a year. And the batteries are not cheap IF you can find one. That adds insult to injury. I can come up w/ $80 for a new battery but there are not to be found!

I already own the BlueSound Vault 2i, as I wanted a place to rip and store a fairly large CD collection. I could stream, but some of my favorite CDs were one-offs that are unavailable on any streaming platform. For the record, I do stream as well, and it does that well too. I had a set of Boston Acoustic outdoor speaker on my back porch, as my wife and I love to enjoy dinners there with music to enjoy. The BA speakers are pretty good, and I really wasn't concerned about replacing them. But we are moving to a new home, and I began to explore a BlueSound speaker to compliment the Vault. It had the added benefit of being able to change the volume or pause (I had to go inside and use the remote closer to the stereo equipment up to now). I wondered which model speaker would work best, and spoke to a Crutchfield advisor about my needs. He told me the Flex 2i would suffice for what I'd use it for. That's refreshing, as most advisors elsewhere would push you to buy the more expensive models. Anyway, I received the Flex 2i today, and set it up alone and with the Vault. VERY impressed! Really good sound from a. small speaker. It has enough power to get as loud as I'd ever need. If I ever need more sound, I can always buy another Flex to fill in any gaps. I may consider the battery packs to allow placement options. Totally satisfied customer.
Pros: Ease of setup Great sound
Cons: None so far.

Pleasantly surprised with the sound quality. Low volume playback punchy without booming. Seems a bit thin in the mid-range but so is my hearing. High quality look and feel. Set up was a bit frustrating at first on an existing Blusound app as it seemed to find every wireless network in the neighborhood except mine. This kept up until installing the Blusound app on another device that immediately went after an update. Soon as that update started it then showed up as updating on the original device / app. I've been using the app for 16 months or so with a NAD receiver so am somewhat familiar with it. Even with that it took a bit to sort out how to navigate the app and figure out the hand off between players. It's all working now and I'm quite happy with it.
Pros: Overall very high quality. Good sound.
Cons: App can be frustrating til sorted out.

The Bluesound Pulse Flex 2i exceeds expectations. By a lot. Sonic quality is very good. I keep the one unit on my garage workbench, and port it to the backyard patio when my wife and I are relaxing back there. Originally purchased with the idea that I would first assess it before deciding on either permanent placement or portable,i.e., later purchasing either the wall mount or battery pack. After one day I decided to purchase the battery pack and go portable. Battery pack is currently scarce, so we've been porting the unit between garage and patio plugging it in. Best sound is in my garage but a a distance from the unit - sound significantly improves compared to sitting at my workbench, which puts me within about three feet. I'm so impressed with this product that I'm going to purchase a second unit, and then use both in stereo. I'm especially looking forward to their performance in the backyard taking advantage of freedom of placement. Presuming I can obtain two battery packs. Overall very happy with this product. Well done Bluesound, well done.
Pros: Sonic Quality, Portability, Ease of Use, Size, Functionality
Cons: Optional Battery Pack is Scarce - Hard to Find

Got a pair of these and was very disappointed as I miss-read that they were Airplay2 capable. Turns out they were ready but no software update yet. Crutchfield talked me into waiting it out, thanks for that. If you can work through the Non intuitive setup these sound incredible. The Pulse Flex 2i live up to the hype audio experts give them. Now they haver the update for Airplay 2 they are part of my wider whole home wireless speaker setup, and surpass the quality of the Sonus/ Homepod competition in other rooms. Once you use the app a few times it makes more sense and totally worth the effort to learn. 4 stars for the extra work to use them, 5 stars for quality of product and sound.
